Its annoying and frustrating when custom maps are poorly designed and dont work after a certain point.
I've got secret idea for that OR map like that: give player rocket launcher on stage when we're running away from the darkness but that launcher gotta be on some fan below crushable floor - makes it inaccessable on our way to mask and makes it intense to pick up on our way back. Maybe even add Sam comment like "I smell some serious firepower around here" like in Jaguar Valley near secret minigun
I would add it in my own map in future, that's only one thing left - learn the editor
Everything is fair. Lack of secrets (+ unfinished scripting mechanics), problems with optimization and simplified fights - all the result of rush before contest deadline. Since the optimization problems appeared after lighting and texturing, I would not have had enough time to redesign the architecture, so I began to simplify gameplay. Secrets were planned, but I just didn't have time. Now, after so many years, I didn't change anything significantly.
I deliberately chose gloomy music, because map was planned to be mystical, disturbing and frightening. But this is didn't work out to its fullest.
Thanks for the high rating!
It's important for me to know that it was mostly a good experience.
Overall, almost 8/10. Nice work! Enjoyed as much as previous submission
1. Athmosphere is good, but lacks of any combat music (I may suggest that it's has to be in this way but still), I would add "Bridge" OST (XBOX levels, second part of Citadel) - would fit pretty good. The darkness is just good for athmosphere and mystery. Overall, 8/10 at this category
2. Optimization - interiors working good, but open areas are hard to play due it's optimization, but keeping in mind fact that battles not that long (it's good) it's doesn't bother too much. 6/10 at this category
3. Battle scenarios - quite nice, nothing to say that much, the only one I would wish is to add at least Minor Biomechs to some areas, for example they would fit very good in cave. Also would be nice to have much more enemies in the end to make it more "epic" if you wish :) 8/10 at this category
4. Plot - nice and simple, keeps your motivation to explore "the place". 8/10 at this category
