Also I think Cumbria should be de Jure part of Lancaster as not only is it culturally North Western (I'd know, I'm North Western) but historically was associated with the Kingdom of Rheged. The history in the Lacaster title shows the historical Kings of Rheged as being Dukes of Lancaster, tying Lancasters identity with the Cumbrians.
Truth be told there was likely more Cumbrians inhabiting even the county of Lancaster by 867, as historically there's not much evidence the Anglo-Saxons actually settled the region much (though they did rule it).
According to Historia Brittonum, Oswiu of Northumbria married Rhiainfellt, the granddaughter of Rhun, son of the legendary Urien of Rheged. This justifies the usurpation of Rheged through marrying into their bloodline.
The lack of Anglo-Saxon settlement in the North-West suggests the people living in Lancashire were just Anglo elites, Briton natives & Norse settlers from Dublin.

Brilliant! Great that it works with the East Asia expansion as well :3 if I may suggest something for the next update, could you put the Kingdoms of Kent, East Anglia and Essex in there? these still did exist at startdate and wouldn't be destroyed until Aethelred's historical death in 871.

@Akatosharine - have you activated the decision? when you start the game you need to use the right hand side panel to activate the split.

ahh... could you make that note about enacting the decision after starting a new game as any country, more prominent? :)

I think it's Essex on your map... Why is that not splitting England at all in 1066?
Let me see 867 - yes it's missing Bedford Duchy from the Kingdom and hence from the empire title too. And it's during testing just this mod.

For some reason, when using bookmarks (not sure if any bookmarks) to start the game a lot earlier (like the year 10), i have some unlanded duchies in England around London/Kent... I think it's just whole Bedford Duchy missing. so the kingdom of England looks as if it had a whole in there, that duchy is simply unassigned to any kingdom.
It doesn't happen this way when starting in say 1066 - i haven't tested it much yet.

Shouldn't york be actual capital of Nothumbria also this should be map only for 867, anyways greta work at dividing mercian duchy.
