Overrated and boring. I play literally every custom story, and this is the one I refuse to finish. I encountered many bugs, and I don't care how good the story is, I am not playing those 3 hours again. Not much happened. I reached the first unique looking area in the whole custom story, which was the clock tower.

I simply don't understand how this custom story is so beloved, with how BORING it is for the first 3 hours. Did I mention you have to follow a walkthrough as well? The puzzles are so complicated and the map is so maze-like, you will 90% have to watch a tutorial for every other puzzle.

0/10. I would give it a chance if people didnt overhype it so much. It makes me so mad when I have such an unpopular opinion. Also the first monster sucks too.

I would prefer Destiny Rebellion, Followed By Death, Dark Case, literally anything besides this mod. I have replayed the beginning many times and it just feels too generic. I always get lost even on my 3rd attempt.

Great game.
I was able to skip part of the game - in Chapter 6 in Basement where you have the orb pedestals, I put one piece in each of the 3, and then found the lever to start the machine, which I pulled left and then right, it automatically progressed the game to the cutscene, even though the tutorial says I was meant to collect the 3 rods, and the fourth pedestal, and put them in place to start the machine.

Having replayed the mod until the end and not encountering another annoying softlock, overall it was a good experience... except at the very end.

The game decided to screw me over by first having the dog hoodie thing stand right in front of the door I was supposed to run out of. I had to rely on a neat box trick so it couldn't see me. And the other thing was when I was taking the orb back to Samuel, I suppose for the dev it's fun to make the shadow slowly kill you as you run out of laudanum and fail before the sequence can finish, but not for me.

All in all, not a bad custom story, but suffers heavily from glitches and bugs.

Someone can't make a way to get all the documents and tinderboxes?which is laid out on the table in 1 room and gives the challenge in the same way.

Cool custom story, can't finish it though, I can't use the hammer and chipper a second time on the pipe in chapter 3, was I supposed to light the candle first? I can't seem to trigger the explosion it was supposed to happen.

After two more tries, the game finally saved. Odd, but I'll take it. Thanks, in any case!

Not sure what might've caused this unless you accidentally didn't save when you thought you did. I just tested it and it saved just fine, and I was able to load my game again. I even exited the game completely and reloaded the custom story just to make sure.

Upon exiting the game and saving, it did not create a save file, destroying all my progress. Is this a known bug, or...?

yup, one of the reasons I didn't played dark room ... I don't want to replace any of my game files just for one custom story, regardless of how much nostalgia it delivers ...

I tried, but unfortunately Dark Room is technically a full conversion. Because of that, it doesn't fully work through the workshop. It's mostly functional, I'd just rather not upload it if it doesn't fully work.
