For people who still have this mod on their playsets, I have a new mod which aims to reintroduce the content from the suggestions list on top of the landscape that Paradox sculpted in King of Kings and Winds of change. Not everything I built has been incorporated into it yet, but I hope to add what is appropriate over time. Feel free to check it out and I hope you enjoy it!

@RMS Oceanic I really love your mod series to expand ERE sensibly without artificial debuffs like what 1.36 KoK did. Do you plan to update your mod series to 1.37, and if at all possible either help make it compatible with Europa Expanded or make a standalone mission tree to pair with your mods?

Also, I found a very detailed video on the messy politics in the Aegean that you could use as the basis for a new entry in your series: (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qS0v1BLPb28)

Please let me know what you think. Europa Expanded (which absorbed Flavor Universalis's remnants) already has several of these monuments (I remember the White Tower the Lighthouse of Alexandria specifically).

i think the new update with greco-georgian culture may have broken the mod.

Just so people who enjoy this mod are aware, I unfortunately am not in a position to update it for 1.36. While I don't think these conflict with the content we've seen so far, I'm in the process of updating my computer. Once I'm established and have experienced what 1.36 has to offer I'll see what can remain as future suggestions.

@Vojvoda Racic from a Gameplay Perspective it's an incentive to accept Cappadocian culture, it turns the province into an unlikely powerhouse, hence the combination of the monument providing modifiers and the bonus providing flat bonuses, so they synergise. From an althist perspective I see it as the caves providing extra space for even simple workshops, while some of the difficulties of working there lead to innovations that the surface residents can also use.

Malakapi - production eff? Im curious what kind of production they had in those caves? Defense or attrition or something similar would make sense, but production and taxes...

So far, I can confirm that the Union Revolt hasn't given me problems so far (and I play these mods along EE and several others of the former Expanded Family). And yes, the Theodosian Walls double up, so I won't recommend it.
Pr0bablySauc3 10. juli 2023 kl. 12:50
thanks :)
RMS Oceanic  [ophavsmand] 10. juli 2023 kl. 12:42
@Pr0bablySauc3 These mods are purely coded with Vanilla in mind, though so far I'm not aware of any major significant clashes. The one exception is I think EE has its own version of the Theodosian Walls and I'm not sure which one would apply or whether you double up. The Union Revolt might double up with EE's own pseudo-disaster and might add additional irritation.
Pr0bablySauc3 10. juli 2023 kl. 9:14
Is this (and the other mods in this collection) compatible with Europa Expanded?
RMS Oceanic  [ophavsmand] 10. juli 2023 kl. 6:51
@Autocrator that big should be fixed.
Autocrator 21. juni 2023 kl. 9:36
I upgraded the Theodosian walls to tier 2 and it now only applies to Constantinople. I think tier 1 affects all provinces though.
RMS Oceanic  [ophavsmand] 20. juni 2023 kl. 5:14
@Autocrator whoops, looks like I forgot to make it local. I'll likely be tweaking this mod again when my next new project comes out, so I'll fix it then.
Autocrator 17. juni 2023 kl. 13:40
disregard my comment. Is it intentional for it to affect all provinces?
Autocrator 17. juni 2023 kl. 13:35
I don't know if it's a mod conflict or not, but the Theodosian Walls province modifiers affect all provinces in Byzantine, not just Constantinople.

@G.S.Pixinine Upgrading the Forum will clear the column modifier immediately.
G.S.Pixinine 8. juni 2023 kl. 20:22
I've gotten the Column of Phocas event, how do I get the Forum event to clear it without just tearing it down?
RMS Oceanic  [ophavsmand] 1. juni 2023 kl. 11:09
@s9nn9s once you control Alexandria it should be clearer.
s9nn9s 30. maj 2023 kl. 18:18
with only this mod on, Lighthouse of Alexandria is not on the map
is lighthouse created by decision or triggered when byzantium conquered that region?
RMS Oceanic  [ophavsmand] 27. maj 2023 kl. 8:38
@"Huey Long" I don't touch religion in that way in this mod, I definitely haven't added Iconoclasm anywhere.
Huey Long 26. maj 2023 kl. 14:04
does this mod also make it so iconoclasts start to rise up and change religion in provinces? and if so how do you stop them
Ckasaron 24. maj 2023 kl. 12:32
Alright man, thank you for the clarification.
RMS Oceanic  [ophavsmand] 23. maj 2023 kl. 8:23
@Astragon the monuments I make up wholecloth are their own distinctly named file, so hopefully they shouldn't clash unless Europa Expanded also does the Lighthouse of Alexandria or Theodosian Walls or what have you. My balance tweaks to Vanilla monuments are a modified version of the vanilla great projects file, so if Europa Expanded uses that file, there could be a clash.
Ckasaron 22. maj 2023 kl. 10:56
@RMS Oceanic Is this mod perhaps compatible with any other mods that add monuments or no? Europa Expanded adds a metric fuckton of new monuments, including all the ones originally from Flavor Universalis after that mod's dev was hired by PDX.

Ideally yes I would want to use all of your mods together with Europa Expanded.

This mod, along with the others in your Byzantium Collection, are really shaping up to add some great flavour. Keep up the good work!

@Chihiro Cyrille I'm not sure at this point. I'm not aware of any truly Byzantine monuments in Rome, and while I could add the Colusseum and Pantheon that's more about capital R Rome than Byzantium, which would be its own focus. Speaking of focus, I guess the Column of Phocas may be a funny gag monument that starts with negative modifiers and you have to upgrade it to clean the taint of his (mis)rule.

If folks are concerned my monuments are too powerful, feel free to suggest how I might rein them in a little.
Chihiro Cyrille 17. maj 2023 kl. 15:46
This, will you add Byzantine Monuments to the City of Rome?
MK Black 17. maj 2023 kl. 15:34
Nice mod! The stats are a bit inflated, but I like that you included decisions for the monuments. It definitely adds to the flavor.
Shadow 17. maj 2023 kl. 10:19
thanks for putting this together. really enjoying the byzantium collection. keep it up

A note on naming: Cappadocia is famous for its underground cities, so naturally making a monument representing them was a fun idea. There were several cities worth representing this way, but I ultimately settled on Derinkuyu for the simple expedient that it is the largest known to us. As an abstraction this monument represents all the underground cities. And instead of Derinkuyu, I went with its Cappadocian Greek name of Malakopi, as it was still a living city used by them all the way to the 1920s, so it felt right to use the name they would have known it by, and it leans into the mechanics I built surrounding it. My historical research could be wrong however, so if you have suggestions or corrections in this area, I welcome them.
