The black map issue can be fixed by reverting to update 1.13, instead of 1.14 like the mod says. it appears the map mod this mod uses for its base map does not function on 1.14 or later

Game repeatedly desynced in 1914 and we were unable to finish the session. Research is unimportant and slow. Industry barely changes and mobilization system is subpar to normal gameplay.

The civilian factory output's too low and that's good for balance but, it really makes it quite boring since no one can really catch up to those who have an industrial advantage
