I love this concept, but unfortunately, valve will probably not add it :( .

Definitely like the reduced clip size, 6-9 "bullets" seems like a good trade off, though I think a reduction in damage is a must since even at maximum fall off (and considering 5 "bullets" needed to ignite someone) that'd be 40 damage + afterburn. Add in a 79 damage every half second from a Sun-on-a-Stick and you could be picking off light classes without having to use your noisy shotguns. At maximum ramp up you'd be dealing 110 damage + afterburn, 3 ticks of after burn and a single swing of the SoaS and you've taken out a Soldier from full health (22*5 + 4*12 + 79 = 201).

Is it more effort than just 2 meat shots? Sure, but you know how vocal some players can about about strats that predate on light classes, no matter how convoluted. Regardless, I still would like to see the weapon in the game, and tweaking can always be done in post... as long as they don't "tweak" it like they did my beautiful Bison.

I really like the idea of allowing more classes having access fire damage, and the effect of needing X amount of hits to be able to actually light people on fire would help so you can't just light people on fire from across the map.

My headcanon for why this weapon would be a silly yet fitting addition to TF2 would be the Scout trying to build his own pistol with stuff he has lying around, doing a terrible job at it and showing it off to the Engineer—in a mechanic sense since both use pistols—super proud of his terrible weapon and the Engie would find it cute and end up fixing it so it could actually work.

Not sure how I feel about the other proposed stats, but you also wouldn't want to add too many crazy stats—like "infinite ammo" like the laser weapons, cooldown meters, number of shots needed to inflict burn being reduced by distance, no reload necessary if standing next to a dispenser, etc—to a secondary weapon.

I don't see a downside to this. It's easy to implement, so it'll hardly take Eric any time or effort. The stats seem pretty balanced; needing to hit several consecutive shots is only realistic at close range, so it won't fuck over Snipers (not that anyone other than Sniper mains would care). The price of the CAPPER won't drop, if anything it'll increase temporarily.

video is genuinely genius. finally someone understands the TF team's abilities and works within them. love it! and as a pyro main, LET OTHERS ENJOY THE FLAME!

what you guys think about making hair trigger paintable? i dont feel that in needs grids for paints. but its a thing that should be behind the mind.

This is just a straight upgrade over stock, 3 less bullets on a 12 magazine isn't that big of a deal, and the good stats offset the downside too much

if this gets added on the game people would never touch the stock pistol again

Also it's a terrible ideia to add afterburn to a hitscan weapon like the pistol, it would be a nightmare to play against it as a sniper

pyro flares you have the chance to get away of the projectile, you can't really do it with hitscan, so fighting a engi or a scout using this weapon would be a constant dice roll, and a really unfun one

I really want this weapon and the balance changes you suggested in the video in tf2 right now it will definitely solve a few problems I noticed with the game for some time and this is such a genius way to go around with it! My only suggestion and this is a nitpick but the model just looked slightly too glossy in the game, maybe turn the shine down a bit to be on par with the shininess of the other laser weapons.

this would be a great addition, praying for a variant of it that makes a loud, annoying hairdryer noise the more you hold m1

having seen the gun in the gameplay, i'd personally like to see a (style maybe?) version without the gloss/shiny exterior."
imo it doesn't fit the rest of the guns and the front picture, MANN CO. is the company to give the merc the cheapest possible weapons they can after all

A very interesting yet simple way to add more variety to the Scout, and more importantly Engineer's secondary slots.
The only issue I see with the Hair Trigger is the synergy with the Sun on a Stick, having Scout be able to ignite the enemies himself would be scary, but considering meatshots do more damage than a Sun on a Stick crit anyways, I feel like it's a fun alternative to the typical Scout at best. (which is a good thing!)
Oh, and as for Engineer, I suppose it would make it easier to track Spies, if you, y'know, can't aim your shotgun or whatever.
Overall, fun weapon! Would love to see it in the game.

I would love to mess with this in game, road to 1k Hair Trigger Kills here I come!
Stogie 28. apr. 2023 kl. 9:55
The balance idea tied to this weapon is frankly brilliant. It would greatly benefit the game.
Serpentine Muse 27. apr. 2023 kl. 16:19
The design is so clever and fun; I'd love to see it implemented!
Sauleline 27. apr. 2023 kl. 16:18
engineer should not have another secondary /j

Setting stuff on fire is a favorite of mine, and most games could use more of it.
Pinewabble 27. apr. 2023 kl. 12:58
The warning label feels bit out of place imo, but other than that really nice!

this would be such a cool weapon. It would give people a reason to use the sun-on-a-stick
