After the first wave, commons stop spawning, only occasional specials, though if its nav mesh related I do have a mod that edits nav meshes so maybe its that

In what way?
The navmesh should not allow the playing field to be clearable, so they should keep spawning.

idk why or how. the textures are all packed into the vpk.
Are you running on low graphic settings? maybe the textures themselves are borked on low settings.

No idea why or how that could happen. the textures are shipped with the map and after 5.8k current subscribers, you're the first to mention this.

Are you perhaps running too many things at once so the game just fails to load assets? Cause the screen of the pc, for example, is the same model with different skins. It loads one, but not the other. that's really odd.

You will simply get stopped, like an invisible wall.
I had it to set to kill the player, but since smokers liked dragging you through the entrance hallway a lot, it was too difficult. So I removed that.
