@The Cutest Elemental~ I hope that solves your egg painting problem as well.
The second run we DID get a Restaurant Type card. Not sure what happened the first run.
It's cool that you're looking to revisit the mod! I'm looking forward to it. Thanks for all your work!
- For the Chocolate Eggs, it's unclear that you need to combine two halves into a full egg. It looks like you simply grab an egg from the tray, but when you try to color it, nothing happens. It took a while before we found out by chance that we needed to combine two egg halves into an egg before we could color them.
- For the Hot Cross Buns, it's unclear that you need to drop an entire stick of butter on it. Grabbing butter from the cabinet with a Hot Cross Bun in your hand doesn't work. It's also possible to portion the Butter, which is not what you want, either. (Though it would make sense to use a portion of butter rather than an entire butter stick).
However, we did have a few balance concerns that make Easter maps with Easter Eggs much more difficult than other maps. "Customers can order up to three times" is pretty big, especially in combination with "Customers can change their order".
It's all fine and dandy when all you're serving are chocolate eggs, but it's fairly easy to pick up a Starter and a Dessert, and then you can have Customers ordering up to 9 times. That's still not a big deal if you have enough tables to seat everyone, but the moment you don't, it becomes almost purely RNG whether you can make it through the day or not.
If you get lucky, and the first groups only request one starter and one main, it's fairly easy to survive the day, but if you get unlucky, and the first groups request three starters, three mains and three desserts, there's nothing you can do, you're doomed!
In addition, would it be possible for Easter maps to start with a regular bin, like Turbo maps? With the amount of Egg Shells that need to be thrown out, starting with a bigger bin would be a tad more forgiving.
Overall, I've played Easter Map + Eggs a few times, and it was fun, but it quickly becomes excruciatingly hard once you pick up starters and/or desserts. Unless you play a huge kitchen and loads of tables, it makes the game kind of impossible.
Thank you for the in depth review on the mod! I plan to revisit this mod in the near future to get it ready for next Easter, so I will have all your points in my list!
- You start with Yellow Dye, but it's only used in combination with Purple Dye, which is locked behind a card. Perhaps it makes more sense to make the card for Yellow and Purple Dye together, so you don't have a useless counter until then? This would also mean that in the tutorial section in the HQ you can actually walk into and out of the kitchen.
- When we didn't have the Easter Egg food enabled (playing Pork on Country, for example), we kept getting Easter Egg Baskets on the Blueprint Desks quite often. It would be nice if those only appeared if you got the Big Egg card.
- The Easter Egg Recipe appears as a Card midrun when running other food. It would be nice if the Easter Egg Recipe can only appear as a Card on Autumn/Lake, like how the Vanilla Base Recipes and most other Modded Base Recipes work.
1) There's no Restaurant type card, like Formal or Exclusive. Is that on purpose? Could be another mod bugging out.
2) We got a lot of other recipes, including mains, sides and starters. I think it would be more fun if it was like the Coffee Shop or Bakery, where you only really get that stuff. However, the first main we got was Egg Tart. Could it be that mod's fault?
Thanks for letting me know about the breakage, I'll have a look into what caused it.
(you can't see any rooms, but you can call up the menu with esc).
it will be fixed on the next KL update.
