I felt like a glowing brain genius when I solved it, great work felt like a proper portal challenge
bullfrog 25 Jan, 2021 @ 3:21am
Yep, looks like the second way was intended - thumbs up.
bullfrog 24 Jan, 2021 @ 3:39am
Perhaps this is it: intended solution ?
bullfrog 24 Jan, 2021 @ 3:23am
I assume this is unintended, so time to try and find the intended.

very nice little brainteaser, fun too
Rlski  [author] 17 Aug, 2014 @ 3:15pm
It will be fixed, thanks for pointing this out.

Clip brushes on glass so I can't walk on the frames to the other side
Rlski  [author] 17 Aug, 2014 @ 6:40am
Glad that you liked it dcook !

@pa1ntmaster : Thanks for this feedback, it's really important for me to improve :)
dcook 15 Aug, 2014 @ 4:44am
Very nice job. Didn't take me all that long, but very clever. My fav kind of map.. no fancy jumping about or 2 second timers... just requires some thought. :-) I llok fwd to more maps from you. ;-)

@Riski, thank you for your interest and willingness to improve :p2cube: here's what I found incoherent:
:p2orange: Underground-themed music, but more importantly...
:p2blue: ...you're using a clean-themed soundscape in what appears to be a decayed-themed environment. For more information, check out section 3b of this guide.

Pretty much anything else I found other users also found.

For a first hammer map, well done lad.
The puzzle was top notch, it was small, look simple and confusing at the same time and it took some time to figure out, eventhough the answer was easy to spot.
The design is was very good, had detial where it was necessary and had plain look in places where it blends in.

Didn't saw any cons, ether there wasn't any or they blended so that you can't see them.
Well done and good luck.

Rlski  [author] 3 Aug, 2014 @ 2:02am
@Goat : It's actually a 3-parts fizzler, but i'll just re-work it. Thanks !
@ pa1ntmaster : I'm interested in what is incoherent, in order to improve it next time i'll use this theme.
★TC2 2 Aug, 2014 @ 7:12pm
Yah i give up
Shane 2 Aug, 2014 @ 6:40pm
If I can make one more complaint. Make each section of the fizzler its own, (so it would be 3 parts). I cannot stress how good of a puzzle this is as well. Great job/
The Sojourner 2 Aug, 2014 @ 2:57pm
Not exactly polished and coherent, but at the same time it's not bad for a first Hammer map. The puzzle is pretty good too.
vallibus 2 Aug, 2014 @ 3:17am
Very nice. It took me a while to figure out the solution. When I did, I had to smile (after saying, "Doh"!)
cee goo twelve 31 Jul, 2014 @ 7:11pm
Very interesting map. Requires you to think differently
Rlski  [author] 31 Jul, 2014 @ 12:15pm
Thanks everyone for your kind words and your constructive advices ! There will be a (last ?) update of the map soon, when I’ll have both time and motivation to polish it. I’ll might be looking for beta-testers for my next puzzles to help me find exploits/unintended solutions before release. If you’re interested just let me know or add me on Steam !

Nice map!
Kibate 29 Jul, 2014 @ 11:53am
@Teamspen: The problem with the fizzler staying on forever is that players could then send the cube to the funnel from the other side of the platform, but the point was of this puzzle that the player is suppose to be on the side of the exit while doing that
Gemarakup 29 Jul, 2014 @ 1:15am
Nice map.
TeamSpen210 29 Jul, 2014 @ 1:00am
Nice chamber and puzzle! A couple of small suggestions:
- Add a "props_backstage\vacum_flange_a.mdl" model on top of the cubedropper, this makes the top attach a bit better to tubing.
-Your fizzler textures are slightly wrong - see the larger fizzlers section on the VDC .
- When the cube hits the button I'd suggest making the funnel stay on forever so players can walk to the exit at their own pace. Send the button CancelPress then Lock, and send the Check input to the indicator_panel (this will change it into an active check sign).
pianoman35 28 Jul, 2014 @ 7:11pm
That was a tough one, took a while to figure out! Thanks!

aka outside the map
portal bump 28 Jul, 2014 @ 9:51am
I saw that using the white surfaces in the beggining room, you could see the bts area from there.
Porakdak 28 Jul, 2014 @ 6:05am
This was a nice little short puzzle that wasn't too hard, but still made me think what I should do. Great work!
racknae 27 Jul, 2014 @ 5:40pm
Pretty well done puzzle. My only real complaint is that moving around the laser emitter is a tad bit precarious. It's also a bit difficult to see and shoot at the portal surfaces on the starting side from the other side.

Looking for feedback on my latest map:

Possible to just toss the box into the funnel and skip the fun part! :O

For future reference - it's usually possible to throw things up to ~256 units straight up, and thrown boxes can enter a funnel up to 3 units up because of their size.
Konke 27 Jul, 2014 @ 10:57am
Clever puzzle. The design of the white walls directly towards the emancipitation grid is tricky and misleading. Took me a while to figure out that was not the correct wall to direct the laser at. However in this case I think it was well placed. Great visuals. I see you put down some effort into this map. I missed some sound effects from the dripping water. Short and fun, thumbs up!
Jade BGE 27 Jul, 2014 @ 10:55am
Real good. Thank you.
not-paradiser 27 Jul, 2014 @ 8:39am
ah yeah, after changing the position of a portal,I did it.Thanks for teaching me a logic lesson ~!
aqmlyn 27 Jul, 2014 @ 7:39am
...it was THAT?!
BIGGEST FACEPALM EVER lol
Chris 27 Jul, 2014 @ 6:48am
This almost literally brings tears to my eyes. You have no idea how refreshing this puzzle was. I haven't seen a GOOD puzzle in weeks. And I still haven't, as this was a GREAT puzzle. Seriously. The only flaw I noticed was a misalligned texture under the laser catcher that deactivates the fizzler. Wonderful asthetics, great puzzle, altogether this was an amazing map. Thank you for learning Hammer before posting a map.
Rlski  [author] 27 Jul, 2014 @ 6:48am
You're on the last step csalrin, when you'll find it you'll see how easy it was ;)

If you do really want the solution, Equinox made a playthrough few hours ago. I'm linking it to the main post. Thanks to him !
aqmlyn 27 Jul, 2014 @ 5:31am
Omg...I have no idea how to do this. Awesome map!

In case you're wondering where I'm stuck, I'm trying to figure out how to get the cube in the funnel while on the other side of the map.

on the fizzler textures, select both sides with the texture tool and click "fit" so they look nice and clean. Nice puzzle.
