@Stillman Morstred regarding difficulty, you are kinda expected to go there with base heroes who already have meta traits, all upgrades for their level bracket and top tier ancestor trinkets (since your enemies will have circus trinkets "equipped"). If you win some fights, you will be able to recruit heroes with modified skills who can equip said trinkets. You also get circus-specific trinkets so you should plan ahead and build your gladiator team just for circus fights. Keep in mind that you are absolutely able to equal your power against bots, and you also have deathblow resistance and speed you can increase (bots can't have DB resist naither they get speed from any of their trinkets/skills). And if you find it's still too unfair, you can just go to mod files and lower enemy stats/damage

well im glad your design philosophy shines through, ive decided to return today since my save cant function without your mod anymore, so ill see it through and give a more nuanced opinion after i spend more time. i really think that this version doesnt really capture what ppl liked about butcher's circus, especially with there being more serious consequences. DONT GET ME WRONG! i dont believe that the victories should be handed to us for the relics/trinkets you can get. i honestly dont think those should even be used in vanilla darkest dungeons outside of the circus because of how op they are. but... considering the difficulty its kinda like getting an ancestor item so, i understand what you're doing with this. :canio:

@Stillman Morstred happy to hear someone finds these fights difficult. As for trinkets, there is no way to make them not get lost on defeat, only trophies always return to your inventory.

honestly i absolutely was excited to play but had absolutely no idea it would eat all my best trinkets and take it to the crows nest... this mod has kinda made me wanna quit darkest dungeons, i was hoping id basically just play butchers circus but with bots. the fights are extremely leveraged against you and you dont even get the ability to use the butchers circus versions of skills.

Not only you'd get leveled in too fast due to match length, but also you are likely to have characters specifically made for arena activity at specific bracket, forced leveling up would likely mean losing them

I was wandering why SBC not showing up despite many attempt to reduce mods to check for incompatibility. Turned out when I open up town event json file it's set for 100% but 0 for roll back meaning that if the user using a bunch of other heroes mods that utilizing the early days of the hamlet (primary CN heroes mods that have highest priorities), SBC will get skipped completely until I changed the rate for it to pop up the first novice introduction. Is there any reason why you made it so there is zero roll back chance?

Great idea for a mod, but many new players don't enable dlcs on first playthrough. Can we have a version of this for just the base game? Would be amazing. Why are crimson court and color of madness mandatory?

PS: Game has been updated this year. Hopefully mod still works despite the updates.

Your arena is interesting, but its icon covers the area of Pet Cemetery.
Unfortunately, I couldn't find a mod in the Workshop to handle their compatibility.

The enemy team despite being in the level 1 butcher's circus battle appears to have very high health and combat skills level, their highway man did like 18 dmg with a normal duelist's advance (not a crit) and their vestal healed around 20 health with just a regular heal,also not a crit.This makes fighting them with a team of hero's level 1,2 or even level 3 very challenging,is this supposed to be this way,or could you make the enemies less powerful in the earlier battles.

@¡Jnuuy! as mentioned several times, don't use multiple mods that touch daze effect. If you use other mods and are worried about copatibility use lite version, I cannot guarantee for this mod to work along any other mods

The game glitched when the enemy Flagellant used Redeem and Dazed themselves, the fight wouldn't continue and I couldn't do anything to fix it, I basically lost the save file because of that. Did this happen to anyone else?

@Sexy Automaton in Maid Outfit afaik sold trinkets arecount as gone, so they can re-appear as rewards. Trinkets lost in fight still exist because they can be reobtained in crow fight

"Only one of each trinket can exist in your campaign" Does this mean you can only have one trinket once ever, or that you can only have one max? So, if I sell a trinket, can I re-earn it later, or is it gone gone?

Hello @Lewd Wig you are likely using other mod that changes daze effect
You can try disabling other mods and see if that helps, or swapping this mod with lite version and hope it works
I think there was also steam launcher command to start your game from last hamlet save

Hi, i have a problem where i softlock my game.
Ennemy Helion killed my hero and now the game is freezed, no heroes want to start their turns. Is there a way to be able to flee the quest ? So i can continue my save :/.

@LA MUERTE that's base game issue, there can only be one modded music at a time, so only thing you can do is to try and change mod order.

I am not aware of any hero riposte in the game that's able to stun. If you are using other mods... well there will be conflicts you have to resolve on your own.

There is no way to set up this event to reward specific heroes, all available to the player have a chance to show up

If you are using other mods I suggest lite version, it doesnt have daze on enemies, gladiator heroes and trinkets locke to them

Also, is there a way to make it so only vanilla heroes are choosable after completing a butcher quest? It's hard to get use out of class specific circus trinkets when a majority of the classes showing up are modded for me.

There seems to be a bug where if the enemy Jester uses finale on someone that has a riposte that can stun. The enemy Jester will be both stunned and dazed, softlocking the game by not being able to finish his turn. The only way around it seems to be removing the daze effect from finale in the mod files. Kinda niche, but that was 30 minutes of searching that had to be done.

Hello @DoctorParacelsus, ringmaster trinkets can only be used by gladiators (hero variant recruitable after winning fight in arena) - except flag and shieldbreaker, as they are from paid DLC. If you want trinkets for base game heroes go for lite version of this mod

I, for whatever reason, am completely unable to equip class-specific ringmaster trinkets onto their respective classes.
At first i thought it was a prestige thing, like i needed a certain amount of points collected to use the items, but i already tested that, and it wasn't the case.
I already checked to see if i had any incompatible mods, and i did not. so i disabled this mod, and now it works.
is this a bug, or is it intended and i am just missing something?

Hi @Jerry Jakob good to hear you liked it :)
Quirks were added as response to DD spamming heroes with random quirks after every match (mostly negative ones). There is no way for quests to NOT reward player with these, so I added circus-themed ones as guaranteed "reward" to at least partially remedy the issue.
If you want them gone tho, you'd need to enter the mod files and inside monster folder, in every instance of enemy at the bottom there should be line that rewards party that kills this monster with specific quirk. If you remove these you should no longer get gladiator quirks, instead you will be getting base game ones. I can't give you specific name atm but look for something like .battle_reward: gladiator_quirk or similar

Easiest way would be to take all .xml files in the mod (search for "circus.string_table" in steam folder, there are 10 files in total in this location) and in each you'd have to change
<language id="english"> to <language id="your language">
then run localization .bat (its more complaicated process than that, I cannot explain it in detail and your best bet would be to look for more info in official modding guide on steam
