Is selecting an icon easier now that mods can use Lua?

You say in the FAQ that you could potentially easily select the desired icon using DFHack but don't want to remove the ability for players who don't use DFHack to use the mod. Have you considered making two versions of the mod?

@Stormfeather If I recall correctly, it needs to be loaded after the base game entries. It's been a couple of years since I looked into this, though.

@Mumbolian I just tested this, still works for me. Make sure it's below the vanilla mods in the load order, and check whether any other mods conflict with this.

Really hoping they add something similar in vanilla. Roman numerals are so easily confusing when you started getting multiple I's, II's, III's, IV's, etc.

@Raven there is no way to add more than 8 icons. Maybe with dfhack, but I'm not going to make that a requirement of this mod.

Shayle, that isn't possible in the base game. It might be possible with DFHack, but if so someone else will have to make that mod :)

This may be a stupid question, but is there a way to add your icons AND still have the others? I have about 16 differing "jobs" and having similar icons messes me up lol. If not, its no biggie. Ill use this anyway since its so much better than just numbers.

Thank you for the mod! I found it dumb that only some work details have an image in vanilla. This mod perfectly does away with that issue

Hey Trainzack earlier I asked about how to change the icons and you mentioned just to change the images. Where are the images located, do they have specific file names or extensions? Sorry if I'm being dumb I just can't seem to hunt them down...

Nope. We don't have access to the code, all we can do is asset replacement.

Instead of pulling different icons from the game, is there a way to make it so that the icons change colour after the initial loop? If there's already a base V (yellow), it makes it red? If there's already a yellow and red, it makes it blue? Does that make any sense, and is that even remotely possible within the game code?

@Ron I don't plan on changing the 8 included with this mod, and currently we can't add more. But, if you want a different set of icons you are free to modify this mod to have whatever icons you want. You can even publish it so long as you follow the license terms.

this is pretty cool if you could make more icons that would be sick like a jug for pottery, maybe a ring with no gem for gem setting

@Sparky I thought a skeleton would be good an distinct from the rest I chose. "Pulling Levers" is just an example, you can assign it to any work detail.

using the major parent job as a reference would please everybody, I think. for example you have engraving but there's already one in default, a trumpet or bones doesnt map to anything logicaly.

since there's a limit on the number of icons atm, can the icons reflect the parent job type? makes it easier to map them to sub category

How do I remove this mod again on an active save, is it possible to delete the files without problems?
(ps its a nice mod but it needs more icons and ways to organize, its more confusing now with the limited amount of icons even though i understand you can't change this atm)

In lieu of being able to manually select the icon, could I politely request a few more icons for the various jobs? Finding it tough to associate the few images included here with the many job requirements.

But love the idea of this and appreciate the mod :)

It would be cool if we could use the base icons for jobs too like the box for hauling, pickaxe for mining, etc on new jobs.
