I dont think I could code something like that, sadly. Im not even sure if that would be possible at all, but its an interesting mechanic.
The bonus I currently have for the Era IV tech is also quite powerful, comparable in power to the old 8-unit armies, I believe.
In Era IV, your dust, industry and strategics are all reaching quite high values, so you get good use out of that accessoiry slot. Dust-Tier accessoiries for your units are also quite powerful(Especially the Health Boost one, imo) and if you got the strategics, there are many interesting accessoiries that otherwise get rarely used in them.
So in short: I belive the way I designed the upgrades in this mod is most fun. You quickly get to the "fun" army size and an extra accessoiry adds an additional layer of customization and power to your units.
Some Quest armies can still be 7+ size, but there are very few that are so big.
Never seen the normal roaming armies have 7+ Units.
Other factions - be they AI or Player - cannot have more than 6 units maximum, as they have the same limiting Tech as you do. Well, Necrophages can have bigger armies, but that's because they are Necrophages.
