The base form already provides 9 defense for 1, which is a pretty good chunk - and yet scales 3 times with any dex! With the amount of dex the Silent has avaible, it just gets out of hand so easily.
The upgrade in return is not really needed anymore. 3 block are nice and all, but as long as you have a decent dex generation (brace, footwork, the new form), you generally do not require it.
My proposal would be to change it to:
- 4 block 2 times unupgraded
- 4 block 3 times upgraded
As such, the upgrade has the same stats as the current version, and is now more important when going for a dex build. Meanwhile the unupgraded version looses 1 defense, but mostly the scaling itself.
Survival Pack, Sidestep both justified nerfs. Thumbs up.
Hack and Slash is definitely more interesting of a card than it was before - we shall see how potentially breakable it is.
The Throwing Stars nerf seems unnecessary, but given that it's a damage common, I'm fine with this being a little below par.
The Blight (upgrade) nerf also seems unnecessary, especially because the card is already niche by design (and thus one is already disincentivized from upgrading it) - recommend reverting the upgrade to 16 poison.
The Destroyer nerf was quite overzealous (as I believe Frenzied Stab was already the superior of the two 'downside' damage commons), and basically kills the card. Dagger Throw exchanges 1 damage for a drawn card, and is thus massively superior, Destroyer absolutely does not hold a candle to it now. Recommend bumping its damage up by 1.
One tiny error I noticed is that the "Apply" on the Blight card has a capiatlized "A" when I'm pretty sure it shouldn't.
The biggest change I made was to "Hack and Slash", which I have revamped completely. It was definitely wildly overpowered before, and I experimented with using some smaller numbers, but ultimately I wasn't quite happy with the overall design; mainly, it felt a little too similar to Storm of Steel. In the end, I changed it to a 0-cost, low-damage attack that returns to your hand from your discard pile whenever you discard a card (so similar to Flurry of Blows/Weave, but with discard). I haven't tested it out too much yet, so please feel free to leave your feedback on the revamped Hack and Slash (as well as the other changes).
I would just knock survival pack down to a flat 2 draw and have the upgrade retain tbh.
- Blight : Situationally very strong as a kickstart to poison decks. Dig as is!
- Sleight of Hand : Anti-Wraith Form tech! Full seriousness, like Demon Form, I suspect this would much be too slow for most fights, but that isn't a knock against it, as DF is a perfectly legitimate design. Would need to see in practice.
Once again, major props for gorgeous art and on some clever, elegant designs.
- Survival Package : While also niche, 3 draw for 0 is going to be very, very strong in the right deck. Quite probably too strong with the right setup (e.g. Tingsha infinites, heavy poison combos, etc).
- [/b] Hack and Slash : Wild, and should probably go down to, say, 6 damage per card discarded. Nonetheless, I do wonder if another mass discard is needed for Silent, however (Storm of Steel, Unload and Calculated Gamble exist), though I'd love to see Storm/Unload get another support card of sorts, e.g. another card with an effect on discard.
Re: balance, most of these are a little above curve and could use some down-tuning. I have yet to play with any of them, but on first blush:
- Brace : Flip on Flex is fun. I agree that in order for this to be worthwhile, it needed better base numbers than its strength counterpart. Dig as is!
- Destroyer & Frenzied Stab : Generally speaking, I wonder a little about how much value a generic damage common has for the class. I think there might be some validity to jake's comment below about combining the two cards, e.g. 13 damage, discard a card, gain 1 frail.
- Throwing Stars : Interesting flip on Bowling Bash. The increased damage seems justified, given the random targets. Not convinced this one earns its keep either, but perhaps more interesting, mechanically, than Destroyer or Frenzied Stab.
1.Sidestep is very strong. At 9 block for 1 energy (and 6 block while frail) it is just crazy good. Either it should be rare, or get nerfed, probably to 4x2.
2. Hack and slash is absolutely bonkers for 1 energy. It would probably be better balanced as an X cost card, Discard X Cards, deal X*8 damage. As written it enables some truly silly play without much effort to build into it.
3. Throwing stars seems to not fit thematically. It would be cool if it did something that better synergized with the ninja relics or shivs.
Again, it's a great pack and I don't want to come across as if I'm dragging it, just some thoughts you can take or leave.
Hack and Slash is absolutely wild for a damage uncommon by the way.
