While technically a mod, it feels more like a full-fledged DLC, offering a fresh perspective on Half-Life: Alyx.
It features incredibly unique mechanics, direction, and new ideas that make it feel like it's on a whole different level compared to most other mods.
However,
the lack of guidance (in many cases, there's no explanation at all) and a section where you have to throw grenades something that can take less than a minute with luck can drag on for over 40 minutes if you hit lag, highlight some major flaws.
There are several other drawbacks as well.
For example:
You often don’t even realize you’re in a puzzle due to the absence of instructions.
You may get stuck or frustrated due to seemingly unfair design.
English-speaking players might especially find it difficult to get through without external help.
"SKILL ISSUE" me all you want, but Jeff isn't even scary so much as a tedious chore.
There are many places where the objectives are unclear, bugs everywhere (items that disappear, resin that also vanishes, weapons that won't reload), but the worst part is the "parkour" phases where you have to move from point A to point B to progress, especially when you're playing with a Quest 2 and often lose tracking of the controller. Constant crashes and mobs getting stuck in walls or textures, making them impossible to kill (yes, I'm talking about you, electric dog in the generator room, stuck in front of the Combine console and impossible to DPS because it needs to get to the top of the console) AND PLZ fix the music volume, the music is to strong
It took me 3 or 4 hours to finish the mod, and honestly, I wouldn't recommend it at all.
- First playthough: fell through the intro train and died.
- 2nd playthrough: The lever just popped into my hands without having to go through the pipes. Couldn't pick it up.
- 3rd playthrough: can't get through vending machine open after putting in the coins. Literally software locked.
I disabled all mods except for this one. Horrible!
