I dont have the turtle rod yet to check if they do the same thing.
And both effects time out after a few minutes, if you stay looking at the pool. its not fixed for the life of the pool. It definitely seems like actual info, allowing you to target fishing rares or turtles, and not just a visualisation.
The vanilla pools sometimes have the fish turn blue, at which point it seems like rare fish are much more common.
Theres also some pools that get green bubbles, which i think indicates turtles are present.
This mods change to the circle with fish count, seems to completely lose this info, unless im overlooking how its shown
