@everybody Mod is now updated for 1.7.3, and also vineyards can use fertillizer.

I've made an update to this mod which improves some of the problems of the original and adds support for vineyards:

@wuy3 This mod is fully compatible with 1.2. Nothing has changed in regards to production method defines between the updates. If you take a gander at the modded files, you will see that the mod is coded to be as low impact as possible. It will conflict with mods or updates that change production methods of plantations, but other than that the mod should be update compatible.

Idea is good but balancing is bad. It causes the AI to overuse fertilizers. On my current Qing game im exporting over 50k fertilizers in 1883. I cant use fertilizers on my own plantations because its has gotten cheaper to just build more plantations due to limited sulfur, oil, iron and coal to produce fertilizers

I believe this needs to be updated for 1.1 as it uses localization, and 1.1 base locale files were heavily updated.

This breaks the fertilizer price because AI will use a lot more fertilizer.
I agree that the Fertilizer input is too high, i simply cannot get enough sulfur to supply all the chemical plants i would need.

Maybe this would also be solved by doing what 10ebbor10 suggested below.

So, while the profit is not all that different, there's a huge difference in additional revenue. (aka, your farms increase production dramatically). We can see the same thing for all the others. Simple fertilizer all causes them to triple production of base goods, which is far stronger than grain, which only increases production by 2/3.

I think the problem is that when you set up the conversion tables, you took the base production of grain to be 30 (90 - 60 consumed by fruit/wine consumption) instead of 90. You shouldn't do it that way, you should just use the raw production of a pure grain farm.

In that case, fertilizer for dye would look like a much more reasonable :
- No fert : 25
- Enriched : 42 (down from 75)
- Fert : 75 (down from 100)
- Chem Fert : 116,7 (down from 125)

Don't forget to adjust fertilizer consumption to match. The consumption ratio seems to be fine already.

@Maplover The effect for fertilizer is quite strong, because while it's similar to grain in some aspects, it deviates in other important aspects.

A lvl 1 Grain Farm employs 5000 people to produce 30 units of grain, worth 20 pounds each.
A lvl 1 Tea Plantation employs 5000 people to produce 20 units of tea, worth 50 pounds each

With fertilizer, a grain farm produces 20 units of grain extra, at the cost of 5 units of fertilizer (worth 30).
So that's a net gain of 400 pound in revenue and 250 pounds in profit.

With fertilizer, a tea plantation produces 40 units of tea extra, at the cost of 50 units of fertilizer.
So that's a net gain of 2000 pounds in revenue and 500 pounds in profit.
