@Chocolate [AN] - you're not gonna believe this, but there isn't an easy way to tell whether a character is recruiting units. If that happens, there's a very real possibility that character's army could wind up with > 20 units, a problem that repeatedly plagued my Sisters of Averland mod. Maybe the function would be better named might_have_unit_slot_open

Hi glorious creator of Gary. I was just browsing through your code and I found this function:
has_unit_slot_open (char_obj)
A comment says it doesn't determine whether a character is recuiting or not. Does that mean some bug occurs if you have 17 units and you're recruiting 3? Do you get 21 units in an army or does Gary overwrite a unit?

@crcr! - not a legendary hero and not an ROR. If you own The Warden and The Paunch DLC, recruit an archmage (any lore) and wait a few turns.

@LordOmlette Just a small suggestion, why not make Gary even more awesome by allowing him to benefit from HE techs and redline abilities? I believe the way to do that would be with the unit_set_to_unit_junctions_tables (which you do have), and classify the various iterations of Gary as various HE type units instead?

I think what this would do is, say you classify the Solar Engine version of Gary as a hef_boltthrower, then HE techs and abilities which impact Bolt Throwers (such as giving them more ammo) would also affect Gary. Classify him as a hef_dragon and he would benefit from abilities and techs that boost dragons.

Immediately remembered Turin calling them Gary. Lol.
