Hi bro, I’d like to kindly request something:

In Uboat, when the captain dies and we promote an officer to captain, they wear a special suit uniform. If you're curious, it looks like:

1. The man next to the mission car
2. The one from whom we recruit crew members

This uniform exists in-game but is hidden and only wearable by the captain under certain conditions. I want to make it available to all officers, and if possible, the entire crew.

I'm not a modder, but I’ve done research that might help—please don’t take this as ego.

I believe if we replace an existing outfit (like “jacket-05”) with this special uniform, it could solve the issue easily.

If you can create and upload this mod to the Workshop, I’d be very happy. A few friends of mine also want this uniform, and I’d love for others to enjoy it too. Thanks in advance!

Seems the Script for the Randomize on the lookup table stopped working, would be neat if you could look into it. I'm not sure if you still have all the Names or Appearences of the Commanders from UBE, I've recently started most of the Campaigns to see who they were and how they looked and how to put them in the game so that would be great to have the historic version working again

Nice. Last time I tried ube (6months ago) I got a fair amount of stuttering, was gonna wait til you had it out of beta. But maybe I’ll give it another go now. Ta dude

I'll make a historical variant and Link it back to this mod so you can choose. Also, if you use UBE you always get the historical data within your game.

A lot of these skippers arent villians but decorated military veterans of germanys navy, who served after the war.

Wow so the rest of us that downloaded this Mod for the specific reason to have Historically accurate captains assigned to their boats are now screwed because of 1 azzhole!

Heresy. Everyone knows that Klaus Graf commanded every single sub during ww2, most of them at the same time. Denying that fact by bringing up random fictional names is simply heresy. /s

the mod will undergo an adjustment as the intent of "this" mod isn't to provide exact historical context.

the intent was to provide unique skipper templates to all of the campaigns. the naming of said skippers was done more so out of habit in how I build UBE data.

this feature in UBE will retain the historical skipper names - as it is intended to expose as much of history as possible, like a repository of information in game.

A patch will be created remove the historical names in this mod and some re-branding will be done as well.

I can't say as I understand where you are coming from, Nephilim. You are literally playing a game based on a historical war that featured heroes and villains on both sides. Regardless even of that, you are, in this game, role playing one of those "OG Nazi villains"... and you are complaining that someone has made it MORE TRUE to the original war by putting the correct name of that boat's skipper with that ship?

This is a matter of historical accuracy, nothing more. Burying something because it was bad is not what I would consider a good idea - the names should continue to live on if for no other reason than to serve as a reminder.

If it offends you so much, perhaps you should just not use it?

you also still have the ability to rename the officer (it is just a default)

I could if you really want provide a non-historical naming variant for this mod (so instead of <historical name> it could be Bob Ross)

no, this mod just provides a random character template to the character setup for each campaign - i have no idea what they look like, and do not intend to recreate their likeness.

the name, I just looked up on uboat.net as reference to whom they should be for a given uboat & date.

Wait, does Historical Captains actually mean they are resurrecting the names and images of the OG Nazi villains from WW2? seems like they should keep them in the ignominy they deserve

This is more aof a component of UBE where the campaigns are built around actual ww2 data. So it was fitting to have this capability to preset the character during the setup.

It was a nice small feature that could be used standalone with vanilla.

I enjoy each campaigns presentation being unique.
