I'm going to start with 4 guys with zero stats, zero passions and zero traits.
But a very OP mod list and house rules that led them add passions after leveling up for long enough, steal traits from promising prisoners (and pay thousands, or tens of thousands of silver to do so). Crazy custom xenotypes, magic, gear, bionics, augmentations to turn them into the ultimate survivors and one-of-a-kind custom-made death-machines.

And then, I'll win the game using all endings.

using this for my sheet ice naked brutality run makes me want to kill myself so congrats the mod is working as intended

Yea, that is what i thought, if you don't want to get soft lock, either disable tribal faction or use rimmsqol to unlock the thinking spot
Alternatively, you can download "research reinvented stepping stones" which allow for a similar start with no softlock

Figured it out. I had the Tribal Faction on, but I wasn't USING the tribal start and was confused initially. Basically this mod sent me into the tribal start even without starting as the tribal start. Apologies!

Or any mod that locks the research bench behind an actual research, thus soft-locking your progress.

This mod does not change vanilla research bench, it's probably another mod you have added, maybe stepping stone, medieval overhaul or vanilla faction expended tribals

So, maybe I am confused... I added this as a mod to start with zero research completed, but I also don't seem to have a research bench to get started. Am I doing something wrong or misunderstanding something?

Looks like it works as if, so I added the 1.5 tags. If you find any bugs, I'll ask DimonSever000 if he can patch them.

I don't mind that, I play with single-pawn no-research survival runs with a ton of mods including primitive suite. I did test, and it works perfectly... finally.

Yes, it does remove the forced research from ideology.
It also sadly broke the "Start with technology already researched" scenario part
