My faction base density is stuck as 15 permanently after turning it on, i can only fix it by disabling it, loading the game, then reenabling it

I have managed to resolve the issue. I'm not entirely sure what the cause was, but I realised that you had updated the mod well before the issue occurred, so it had to be something else even though it happened with only this mod active. I ended up have to unsubscribe to all my mods (I had over 2000 mods subbed, most of them not in use.
After spending the day resubbing to what I actually use, I've loaded it up and the issue is gone.

I noticed as well that I was getting errors regarding mods, even with nothing active, so if you do have a lot of subbed mods, it may be worth culling the way outdated and unused mods to prevent possible issues.

I am having an error with the mod, which I am not sure is related to the other issues that some are having.
Every time I go to generate a world map, I always encounter errors spawning the majority of factions. I get multiple errors of "Failed to find faction base tile for (insert faction name)"
It is definitely due to this mod as even if I only load this mod, I get the error.
The only other oddity I have noticed in general, is that every map I've generated seems to have separation from the main land mass from the north and south poles (In essense, the map generates, though the poles are mostly disconnected from the mainland every time, which usually doesnt happen) though this happens even with no mods running.
I have verified cache and such and still have the issue. I will add the error logs into the bug reports, as it doesn't give me the option to upload them.

This mod causes existing saves to show just one single faction after adding new ones, the world map doesn't show any of the new factions and it just vomits 0800 00 1066 red error messages per nano second, i have no idea what happened here or why its started doing this but its starting to get frustrating to play with this mod when adding new factions

@Potato0 You wouldn't happen to be running VRE Android Faction, would you? Because that's the same experience I had until I removed it.

I'm having an error at world creation, the world creation UI doesn't show, if i click generate, it generates the world again, if i do back, it softlocks me in another menu eventually after i go back enough times. Does anyone know what it can be? I'm trying to single out the incompat, but game takes a long while to load to do that on a decent speed.

For people having issues, your situation might be the same as mine. The problem was load order. On autosort, the options on world creation didn't show up.

I had to set the mod to be directly below the game DLCs for it to show up

@PvtGrumpy ok found the solution for me, for some reason RimSort puts faction control in a weird spot, but after using in game auto sort it worked just fine.

Mod doesn't show up in the mod settings list, nor in the world creation menu. Not sure if that's an issue others are having or just me.

Does this mod make it so you are only raided/trading with nearby factions? I didn't know if such a mod existed but my playthrough seems to be doing exactly this (which is perfect btw), I was just wondering if it was this mod causing it or perhaps a different mod like Dynamic Diplomacy

The world gen has suddenly started failing to populate with factions and I have narrowed it down to this mod, and the mod is now missing from mod options. Has there been an update?

Dunno if the mod just updated or not since I noticed a new trader fix with odyssey, but worldgen with this (As of 7/24/2025) isn't working properly with Odyssey. Orbit layer is failing to spawn, and crashes on the gravship scenario. It's merging the asteroid layer with the planet layer. It was working fine just about a week ago so I think it's a recent issue.

I'm a bit confused on what the population override values equate to in terms of settlements. Is the min/max values 1:1, so if I put in 15 for min and 20 for max, will that mean every faction will have somewhere between that many settlements in total? If not can you please tell me how to make it so I have like 20 to 30 settlements for every faction.

Have a bunch of mods (and all DLC) and this was causing my game to have an error on trying to generate a map. Disabling this allows me to play my game. I tried to post the log but it's too big.

@walrusMan, if you're talking about not all factions are spawning, then its the VRE- Android mod that is conflicting with another mod.

Alright I don't think it's actually this mod. It's some kinda bug, probably a mod conflict. Very confused by it, but other people have had similar problems online it seems looking it up. No idea what could possibly be conflicting

even with everything turned off, all the faction density toggles and distance and such, I'm getting very few settlements per planet.

I seem to be getting very low settlement density with this on, only a few on the entire planet. Thing is, on the previous version before the orbital fix it was working with these same settings. It seems like something might be broken? No matter what I do there are barely any settlements on the planet

UPDATE!
Bug is fixed!
New saves should work directly.

People with old saves please:
1. Load your world
2. Open the mod options
3. Press the Fix Odyssey Bug

I'm sorry for any inconveniences.

Damn man I finally got a mod to make factions spawn in a less nonsensical way around the surface, and it breaks Odyssey. Hope OP is able to get it fixed up soon enough. Maybe I can just turn off orbital traders for now, not sure how much that'll reduce Odyssey's content.

I've got a dirty fix.

It looks like if you change <tile> xxx,0 </tile> to <tile> xxx,1 </tile> in your save file it will move a settlement straight up into the orbit layer.
Search for "SpaceSettlement" to locate the mistakenly-grounded orbital platforms.

If, like me, you have only 1 space platform then you can still fix your save it's just more annoying. What I did was:
- Generated a new save with proper space stations.
- Changed the <faction> of these new stations to match my broken save.
- Changed the <ID> to 12 new world object IDs that didn't exist in my save yet.
- Copied the 12 new space stations into the correct place in my old save file.
- Prayed they didn't overlap with existing asteroids because I did not bother checking.

I'm not responsible for what happens to your save, you better back it up before you open it in a text editor like VS Code or NP++.

Ah so it was this mod making my Trader's Guild Bases not spawn, was scratching my head for a few hours wondering till i realized the Button for the Mod wasn't there and kinda gave me a good hint maybe this was the cause since its not giving me any errors in the console :T

I'll get Odyssey asap, had multiple broken appliances past month (I swear why do they always come in threes) so I need to budget right now but that should be fixed by the end of this month.

Just wanted to add onto what others have been saying. Yeah, I tested it and it appears that Faction Control does indeed currently cause Orbital Trade Stations to spawn on the planet instead of in orbit.

This is very mysterious. I found that the same three factions I mentioned only reported an error at 100%, and this problem only occurred after the principal density was not zero. But today I found that this error disappeared. I did nothing. Yesterday I tried many methods but none of them worked.
