mod is now very outdated, sadly
shane_357 12 Jul, 2023 @ 6:40pm
Is this still functional?

@Faigen all mods work with achievements. Paradox removed all checks for getting them.
Faigen 11 Dec, 2022 @ 3:02pm
Does it works with achivments?
IMMoon1 8 Dec, 2022 @ 2:22am
@YY the mod doesnt change the size of battles, it more just removes the randomness that is too much in vanilla. the battles are so small because the infrastructure at the front is low, so the total battle size in both vanilla and the mod is just small

HI, this mod does not seem to operate normally. Even though both sides have accumulated 100k+troops at the front, most of the combat troops are between 7k and 20k. I tried to play without using mod, and found that there was no obvious change in the number of troops in the battle

thanks

Updated the mod for 1.1. It should now also work better with other mods and need less updating. I also reduced the additional battlesize from 25% to 20%, because a change by paradox appears to buff larger armies a bit.
@captain5555555555 The mod should set the battlesize to the average battlesize for even armies. So as long as there are equal amount of troops for both sides half the battles should be larger, half the battles should be smaller.

The mod needs to be updated. a lot of my battles seem smaller now so im not sure if it is still working as intended
pingu  [author] 26 Nov, 2022 @ 4:26pm
@ Sssenpaiii Try this one
Smiley 22 Nov, 2022 @ 9:13am
Thank you for the response, i will defnitely try this mod out and see how it plays out.
pingu  [author] 22 Nov, 2022 @ 6:45am
@Smiley I haven't tested China vs Britian, but the cap to +100% extra size is there specifically for this reason. I'm not sure about the tech diference between china and britain, but I think it's rather large. So if the opium wars start before china catches up in technology, britain should win even more reliable because there is no more randomness.
Smiley 21 Nov, 2022 @ 11:03pm
Hey,
I really love the idea of this mod, just one question based on the example you gave with 4v1 and 2v1. Is it still possible to win battle if you are quite technolagicaly advanced, for example will Britian still be able to easily beat China in the opium wars, cause they are outnumbered quite heavily?
Sabateur 18 Nov, 2022 @ 7:33pm
Thank fuck, I got so sick and tired of stacking up 2x+ men on a line just to see "Oh, this battle here? 4 regiments versus 15."
LYNX 15 Nov, 2022 @ 4:05pm
This is one of the best mods for the game.
Jakfut 12 Nov, 2022 @ 6:56am
As you pointed out before, yes it is probably a good idea to have larger battles, if a lot of units are on one side (or both), even if infra doesnt allow for that.

At least until PDX fixes front lines, so you can have more than 1 Battle per front, or multible fronts. Its just not fun when trying to push into russian, and then you only get a 10vs10 battle that takes weeks along the entire front
Renfa Arviette (arv) 11 Nov, 2022 @ 2:29am
doesnt that depend on your law kaiki? like proffesional army conscripts just being better, but mass mobilization conscripts being kinda shit?
☭Ⓐʳᵗ🅡🅣´꒳`ᰔᩚ 9 Nov, 2022 @ 3:11pm
I'll be honest, I can't find anything, do you think it would be desirable for you to include it in this mod?
☭Ⓐʳᵗ🅡🅣´꒳`ᰔᩚ 9 Nov, 2022 @ 3:05pm
Thanks, may you know of a mod that fixes it with minimal changes? Most of the ones I see fixes them also change a billion bijillion things
pingu  [author] 9 Nov, 2022 @ 1:23pm
@KAIKI DESHU no
☭Ⓐʳᵗ🅡🅣´꒳`ᰔᩚ 9 Nov, 2022 @ 1:10pm
Does this mod fixes the Conscripts VS Professional troops bug, where conscripts were 1.3 times better (inverts or makes them equal)
pingu  [author] 6 Nov, 2022 @ 10:04am
@Norym I tried to stay somewhat close to the values Paradox chose.

@kenyer The base battlesize is 5+infrastructure/2 of the state the battle is in. That's then reduced depending on the terrain. So if the fight happens in a european capital with hundreds of infrastructure, you get large battles but if you fight in the middle of nowhere on a mountain the fights are really small. I didn't really change that part, but it might be an idea to increase the battlesize depending on units at the front, even if you don't outnumber the enemy.
kenyer 6 Nov, 2022 @ 7:24am
This seem to work great on larger frontlines, but when the front size exceeds around 300 vs 300 all I see are sub-10 vs 10 battles, in multiple wars. Is there an issue with the calculation at those levels or I'm just being unlucky?
Norr 4 Nov, 2022 @ 5:07am
if you reduce both, wouldn't it be better just to set defend to 0 and attacker at say 20%?
pingu  [author] 2 Nov, 2022 @ 9:52am
Yes
Blackthorn 2 Nov, 2022 @ 8:34am
Mod should still work as intended after the 1.0.4 patch that just dropped, right?
Jokoff Schön 31 Oct, 2022 @ 2:11pm
hm after i installed this, the AI seem to just Back down on all my wars, before making it dificult to take more than one state per 10 years.
kind of annoying.

captain5555555555 30 Oct, 2022 @ 10:01pm
Which files did you moddify? I am interested in making my own combat mod and would be changing many of the same values you did. A few helpful pointers to a fellow modder would be appreciated!
Jaime Wolf 30 Oct, 2022 @ 3:53pm
This would be more balanced if the attacker took additional casualties when using the battlesize +25% per 100% battalions over bonus. For each % bonus up to 100%, they should take 1% more casualties.
hzy 29 Oct, 2022 @ 6:42pm
thank
pingu  [author] 29 Oct, 2022 @ 8:46am
@黄子元 I created a version that allows all battalions to fight. It's obviously not balanced at all https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2881533912

@Imp0815 I'm not sure if that is possible. But sounds like an interesting idea.
Imp0815 29 Oct, 2022 @ 3:54am
If you can add a heavy defenders advantage with machine guns and negat that effect as soon as tanks arrive.
hzy 29 Oct, 2022 @ 1:25am
Whether this mod can be realized, such as 3000 battalions on the battle line, and thousands of battalions fighting at the same time
hzy 29 Oct, 2022 @ 1:24am
请问这个mod,是否可以实现,比如战线上3000个营,有上千个营同时交战的情况
Andy's Take 28 Oct, 2022 @ 4:29pm
Just tested this mod - it's great. Got a much more realistic sense of who would win and not - the larget army often got the most men in battle, yet who won ultimate came down to men+stats, meaning it's not simply one way or the other. Awesome stuff.
TiNan 28 Oct, 2022 @ 9:02am
enough,thank you
pingu  [author] 28 Oct, 2022 @ 8:50am
Not all your troops will fight, because that would kill too many people. But if you outnumber the enemy in total troops you will send more troops into battle and win the battles faster and more reliable and not lose battles on fronts where you have 200 vs 10 troops.
TiNan 28 Oct, 2022 @ 8:34am
so it's a good mod
TiNan 28 Oct, 2022 @ 8:34am
Then he did avoid a battle in which only 10 troops of 200 troops fought against the 30 troops on the opposite side, and the remaining 190 troops were madly stealing my logistics, right?
pingu  [author] 28 Oct, 2022 @ 8:29am
Not completely, but it will make larger armies use more of their troops in a battle. There is still a limit of how many troops can be used in a battle, that is influenced by infrastructure and terrain but if you have more troops than your enemy at a front you can exceed this limit by up to 100%.
TiNan 28 Oct, 2022 @ 8:01am
Will this stop my troops from watching their allies rout by fighting more with less?
