Unfortunately pretty much right after I built all these addons, Geometa changed the way electrics work for stationary editor objects which basically makes it all broken. I'd fix it if there wasnt the looming threat of yet another ghost update or major update changing something and breaking it all again.
Every individual item needs to be updated manually then re-placed one by one in the editor. Its a long process.
As for fixing it yourself, as long as you credit appropriately go right ahead :)
This means I need to fundamentally rebuild all of my assets, connect up electricity and so on which im just not prepared to do. For months i've been loosing faith in Geometa, more so now since I've heard their claims at avoiding engine changes in the name of not breaking contraptions and yet here they are, breaking things in the name of engine changes.
Geometa flip flop's too much..
Also as a balance, the huge fuel tank does not come equipped with a pump, shouldn't be a problem for ships with their own pumps. It just provides so much fuel right out the gate I thought it best to leave it without a pump.
Im pretty sure an industrious player would be quick to bring their own portable pumps or fit their vessels with pumps.
So to answer the overall question, The sockets and hose mounts are for transit, not direct service, use them to connect to your infrastructure on the island.
In order to fuel and power my ship over at the dock, I had to use the fuel/power pylons to string a series of cables and hoses out to the ship.
