For bretonnia and empire you just need colored horse of empire (as specified this include too bretonians do it better) tested in game now and all work as intended .

OK, perfect. Got it. This mod here doesn't matter as it doesn't do anything related to changing horses.

For more Bretonnian horse variety, use the 2 mods
'Bretonnians Do It Better' + 'Faction Unit Cards III' (not this one)

And for Empire horse variety AND Bretonnian horse variety (included in Empire mod), use the 2 mods
'Colored Horses of the Empire' + 'Faction Unit Cards III' (not this one)

Hope that was all correct now. Now that version 5.0 dropped, let's also try this with 5.0 and we can report back here if/how it works for us, people! And thanks again brother <3

You Need only bretonnias do It Better and unit cards so unit have different unit cards for each subfaction

Hey @ForTheEmperor, thank you for the quick reply. Sadly, I did not understand. I understand you hope they change Bretonnia so you can redo it. You'd like to make a better mod.

1.) Does this mod do anything in current version 4.2.3 - can I run this mod in a campaign?

2.) Will I get more different-looking horses (more "horse variety") for my cavalry troops if I run a campaign in 4.2.3 with

+ Faction Unit Cards III?

Oh, by the way - I should have clarified: What I'm after is the horse variety for Bretonnia and/or the Empire. I want to know if those still work (they require this mod). The specific lord colour changes done by this mod here are nice but not essential for me. But making horses across vanilla cavalry units feature more types of horses, in different "mixtures".... I loved that!

Doesn't RPFM tell you all the changes that might have to be done? There are the free "schema" updates for the app, I believe. I really don'r think this has anything to do with any DLCs.... Plus I thought all the Bretonnia relevant ones free anyway (FLC), @ForTheEmperor?

Whatever the case: It would be <3 lovely if anybody could clarify if this works even with current 4.2.3 - I lack the technical capabilities to tell, I'm afraid <3 It also doesn't have to be perfect, but should "playable" and halfway "safe" to use in a bigger mod campaign ;)

Lord dont require anythig else. Is just a work of database, overwrite vanilla setting that assign random colors to lords/paladins. Mod simple assign this to rebels factions, so game use faction colors instead of radom colors for lors/paladins. Bretonnia do it better/empire horse just tell game to use primary/secondary colors swich (so artois white/red have lords whithe red or red/white)

I think there is an issue, because the horse / rider colors doesn't march at all... x)

The color is also tied directly to what mount you are using as well as color for the paladins change depending on the mount

Personally I think the Paladins color change is something related to the colors used for the tors and mantle on the helmets. AS it was Red and yellow before. I have no clue what they did that screwed up the colors to be the same for all factions. I do appreciate that you were able to fix it for the battles at least.

on that cannot make anything i have just canged the unit colors, disabling the radom colors and just fix a combo o colors for each faction, faction tables are untouched. Usually this fix problems, but for how ca make game, they take colors from another thing not related to tables. this is all

Further because of how CA screwed up the colors of Bretonnia lords and paladins the changes I mentioned are the same across all the factions.

I'm not arguing what you've done. I'm stating that what ever was done changed something for the campaign map lords and paladins.

Lords always appeared as Red and Black on the Campaign map and details page. Always. Paladins Colors were always faction colors on the campaign map and details page. The lord with this mod active while playing Couronne is now light Blue and white and the Paladin is Red and Yellow. That is what im saying. While it fixes lords and paladins in battles it has not in the campaign map and details page.

Not, isent the problem. I have disable the vanilla table that fix for lords and paladins a set of 10 radom colors for lords and paladins. In this way in skirmish,Battle lords/pala use only the colors i fix in my table. In campaign map instead game use the colors i have disable. As i tell, Ca know problem and they Will fix in One of next patchs. (One Will Be before end of year and another in the First half of 2023 ). At last the only other thing can make Is create a custom mount for each of lords , as other bretonnia mods, but this can create compatibily problems.

We'll see .... I've only reported it on the steam back in 2.0, on SEGA and on the total war forum.

The mods definitely not working on the campaign map though In fact it actually changed the Paladins and the Lords colors on campaign map to different then faction colors but also different then normal vanilla.

Everything is working fine. No issues with anything. The only thing thats weird is how the lords & paladins still retain the vanilla colors on campaign map. But everything is working fine. I even tried to make a separate mod that I only edited the unit colors and it still gave me the same results. It’s probably a vanilla bug.

Boh, if work in Battle/skirmish must work everywhere so realy dont know. Try with shazbot for see if there Is any conflit with others mods. Horse pattern work?

Hmm I’m not sure. I don’t know if there’s a separate table that focuses on campaign unit colors. But I don’t think the faction table would be the cause though.

Must see what faction Is. Mixu lords are differents, i set Just set generic lords and paladins. For compatibility i dont touch faction table, can be for that?

I’m not sure if it’s just me but on the campaign map, I for some weird reason still have my lords & paladins with the vanilla colors. But on battle map, the colors work as intended.

No, corored horse emoire include bretonnia do it better, so o use brotonnia mod o use empire (that have too empire horse)
About shiedls as i tell, shield colors/heraldic is linked to horse/knight colors by a script , changing mount script dont work anymore, need make a patch for shields, remove background and add a mask for have something with just background that change according to horse and knight and is too possible create a set of shields taht change according to subfaction. But both this solution make mod incompatible with all others (need edit variants tables, so hust if have enought request can make this). I have already realize this in w2 so is just a long and boring work of conversion from w2 to w3 (texture names/formats are totaly differents)

Is there a particular load order between your mod and "Colored horse Empire (+Bretonnians do it better)" ?

Because I tried both, and in any case shield (only the shield) colors are always random...

yes, o use bretonnia horse o use colored horse empire . i have realize a separate mod for bretonnia for who dont want too empire mod. Shazabot work fine

I noticed in Shazbot's launcher that there's a notification that when activated, this mod is missing Bretonnia horses (bretonnians do it better).
It seems that Colored horse Empire (+Bretonnians do it better) isn't being detected by the launcher as a valid parent mod for this mod.

Are you sure this works? on the campaign map all the dukes are just some generic blue colour.
