i dont know if youre still working on this but you cant change the sound back to the vanilla.

@Bayrain I agree, but I decided to only spawn the vanilla crowbar in case another mod requires it for, for example, a recipe.
I may add an option to include it in the spawn list in the future.

Was hoping the color varations would spawn as well, instead of just the basic Crowbar and then you gotta repaint it

@TeaStain tested it in my save, works with Common Sense! Eggon's All Doors Are Yours still requires vanilla crowbar but that mod hasn't been updated since 2022 so that could be why..

@MrAnonymous All the variations added by this mod count as different items. If the trait changes the stats of the vanilla crowbar than it would only have an effect on the vanilla crowbar.

Is this compatable with the crowbar+ for the Gordanite trait added by traits mods?

I wish it was compatible with Common Sense i would like to break into trunks with my trusty red crowbar. It's not compatible with Eggon's All Doors Are Yours either, as taking a door requires vanilla crowbar. There's gotta be a way for to make the game think its a vanilla crowbar

For those wondering the exact compat with SOMW:
I am able to strip the paint and paint the modified crowbar with no problems. However they do indeed as stated by author have different stats.
The differing stats between the two mods are as follows:
SOMW (Blue Crowbar): 0.68 - 1.35 damage, 20 condition, 1 in 45 condition loss, and 35% crit
Painted crowbars: 0.6 - 1.15 damage, 15 condition, 1 in 70 condition loss, and 20% crit
and the models match cleanly so I definitely recommend them together if you're okay with those stat differences.

@pooping guy spc:sl I haven't tested it yet but it shouldn't break anything. Any changes made by SOMW would only apply the vanilla crowbar though. The painted crowbars from this mod are seperate items and their stats wouldn't be effected by any changes made by SOMW.

To answer your question: this mod should work with SOMW but changes made by SOMW would only apply tot the vanilla crowbar, not to the painted crowbars. You could use both mods at once but the experience might not be ideal.

@FnTRozsa Thanks for the kind words! The sound effect is just taken straight from Half-Life, I only added it because I think it sounds funny. I didn't really expect anyone to play with it seriously. So yeah, let's just call the volume an "artistic" choise lol.

@TeaStain Thank you and yes the one with the half life sound, nothing wrong with the sfx of choice btw just the volume that it was set.

it is just to loud for me if it was subtle like the vanilla one defo be enjoying it more, great mod tho keep on rocking wish you well on all of your upcoming projects.

In case of the latter: use the mod "PaintableCrowbars" and not "PaintableCrowbars_SND_[X]"

If you do mean the vanilla sound: yes, there might be a mod for it. Or I could quickly make one but I don't really do modding anymore and I have other projects that are more important.

@Swifthawkee - I have previously attempted to do this but couldn't figure it out. The better lockpicking mod uses a lot of lua scripting which I don't know how to work with. I'll take another look but won't put too much time into it since I am busy with school and other, more interesting projects.

@EvilMoustacheGuy thank you for taking the time to test this, I just took a look myself and the spawn rate was indeed very low. I remember finding plenty during testing so I have no idea why they were so low. I increased the spawn rates massively and could now find multiple in one warehouse with extremely rare loot settings.

tried it again. Even turned off every mod, but this one.
Aparently, spawn chance of the paint stripper is pretty low even with Abundant loot settings (and with additional mod items and chance tweaks it's nearly close to zero)

@EvilMoustacheGuy, it might be because you are in raven creek. The mod adds the item to the vanilla spawn tables but Raven Creek might use custom tables or the outdated distributions file.

(The mod adds paint stripper to these spawn tables: ArtSupplies, CabinetFactoryTools, CratePaint)

I started a new game entirely. Lots of paint, but no paint strippers.
Granted, I was in Raven Creek location, so maybe 'cause of that there wasn't any of it to spawn. Will try in Vanilla areas when I'll have time.

@EvilMoustacheGuy, the paint stripper should spawn in the same locations as normal paint. Have you already explored the areas you are looking in before activating the mod? It should spawn if you look in an area you haven't been to before.

Where does the Paint stripper usually spawns? Having trouble finding any even with buffed up loot in the settings
