both of your reactors dont heat up the boiler(s) enough to generate steam, will this be fixed in the future? i really love both of your nuclear reactor addons and we would love to see them work once more

There's no addons or modded pieces in the build. Its all "au naturel" using only parts from the base game with no adjustments.

Can't explain why that may be happening. The bottom area in the middle is the reactor pod that has the ability to be "changed out". If it's missing perhaps something in MP is causing it to fall off on spawn. There are multiple batteries and they are contained in the back of the main rear. From everything I can see everything is running fine.

It appears the key wont turn due to lack of power. I've also noticed when I spawn it, the bottom area in the middle seems to be missing.

Hi noob get rekt. Infinite power is not required and there are a number of batteries on board. All you should have to do is turn the key in the control cab to start the heat buildup. It will take a bit of time for it to reach temperatures enough to generate the steam to run the turbines. After that it's self sustaining.

I can't even seem to startup the reactor, because theres no power on the car. Does this require infinite power as im trying to use it on a MP server that has that disabled.

The reactor car never seems to have power, making it impossible for me to attach it to the train. How do I solve this?

Hi DemDemz. I deleted my previous response as I had responded thinking this was about the reactor in the FENRIS. For the Reactor Car I just retried it and I didn't have any issues. In fact it's overheating a bit with the OVERPRESSURE kicking on as I haven't updated since a pressure update last year. Looking at that now.

Is it possible that when you engaged the key that the rods didn't make it fully in to the receivers? That may happen sometimes especially if it's not running using High Physics.

doesnt seem to function properly I turned the key the tempetures dont rise above ambient temperture.

Hi Patrick Wallace. I just ran a test with two scenarios... dropping the reactor pack and attaching the cables, attaching the cables before dropping the reactor pack. In both cases I was able to get a successful lift to get the reactor pack reattached. Hmmm... I wonder if the issue is not related to the power of the winch (I believe that is fine) but the elasticity of the rope? I'm running with High Physics settings... what settings are you set for?

Hi Yeetlazar. I'll be working on some additional cars shortly. I just need to rebuild some of the older ones to accommodate the new bogies. The old bogies seem to now cause damage when climbing on the bridges at high speed. As for the rod assembly.. no. It's a different setup. I'm trying to upload a new update but the update process seems to be glitching. The new update allows you to disconnect the old package and winch it down or up. I'm looking in the future at how I can work a rod change out for the package.

I suspected it was major cheesing of game mechanics. That's really quite hilarious. I was confused why you were using flywheels as decoration when you could be stuffing more turbines in. Thank you very much for useful information. :D

Hi Drift_91. The secret is using flywheels to develop a massive amount of torque and a clutch set to 0.5 on the generator.

The steam turbines constantly develop sizeable torque even at very low pressure, You don't need a lot of heat either to get that steam. The turbines also seem to operate in an additive type of mode where steam is always causing rotation and not stopped like in Diesel engines. In Diesels the fuel usage and "spark" is dependent upon the rotation of the crankshaft. In turbines it just keeps building as the steam in, water out is never stopped. The result is that you can get large sets of flywheels spinning at accelerating rates generating a ton of torque.

With all that torque how do you get RPS for the Gens? 3 Gearboxes set to 3:1 with a Clutch set to 0.5 between the turbine shafts (5 turbines feeding it) and the gearboxes. The clutch item may be a bit of glitch but it works, is know by the devs and has been around for a long period of time.

Damn it, you beat me to it! I've been working on a nuclear powered train for a while, but can't get it to do the speeds I want without draining the battery. If you don't mind me asking, how in the hell do you get 6100 SWatt from this thing in such a compact package? I've got my reactor and boiler in a separate car from the turbines and generator, yet somehow can still only generate 700 SWatt.

For the meltdown the reactor has to be active (turn the key). All the meltdown does it prevent the Control Rods from being inserted which allows for a runaway radiation cascade causing meltdown.

Hi Hunter. Currently I don't have any plans to weaponize the train but it's not out of the question. I'm still working on a crane car and a container car to complete the "set". I'm definitely interested in looking at what the Industrial DLC will provide and will work more towards that. At present I'm still considering some other cars such as vehicle transporter and a motor car that will be shorter and it's only purpose is to provide additional force only ever as a slave.

I like the concept and design. Kinda sorta off topic here, but would you ever plan on making a fortress type train/command/battle train. With the new update coming out it'd be interesting to see more combat/command trains
