It's just my personal take, I love the way this item looks but I can't imagine using it if I can't paint the tube. Looking at how the paints look in your image, it looks best with the color that matches the tube already. Other colors are ruined by how green it is

Originally the mask was entirely paintable. If you want i can *try* to see how it looks with green bits paintable, but the detailing with suffer

I feel like this would be really cool if the tube was on both sides of the filter so that it doesn't look as weird from different angles. Also maybe if the tube wasn't green players could decide on their own what color the tube is. Making it green no matter what kind of ruins it for certain color schemes
