A little late, but I was really agonizing over some final picks:

https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/workshop/filedetails/discussion/2857842616/596288556263036980/

This topic contains the track-list for Music for the End 2.0 and its upcoming expansion Encore! Many of your requests have been implemented into Encore! Let me know what you guys think and if there's anything you're excited to see by responding to the discussion topic!
kassidy  [author] 9 Oct @ 9:16pm
Hey everyone, nothing but good news:

The new Script Manager is now more-or-less complete, and it's a pretty dramatic improvement from the old one in ways both back-end and front-end! Likewise, I've just about finished up the finalized tracklisting for Encore and all of the changes coming to all of the mods' tracklists--tomorrow I'm planning to finish implementing all new tracks and I'll be posting the updated tracklist tomorrow for everyone to see, so you guys can get a taste of what's coming in Encore (and the new Home Labelled update, which will be rolled into Encore!)

You can likely expect 2.0 very soon, as long as you think of 'very soon' as a relative term! We're probably a couple weeks out at most, finally!

Trust me, you guys are gonna' love this shit, I'm just as eager to play with it as you all are!
Satanás 7 Oct @ 10:49pm
@lea I have to launch a server later today, so I will test the server with all mods and one with only the music mod and post the report later if i have the same problem.
kassidy  [author] 7 Oct @ 10:44pm
@Satanás What happens when you try to launch the server, exactly? Could you perhaps produce an error log? Look for C:\Users\(you)\Zomboid\logs\ and then scroll to the bottom. Open the text file with the most recent date named DebugLog, then post the relevant portion of the end in the Report a Bug section.
Satanás 7 Oct @ 10:40pm
Well, I hope I can find my problem till 42, no other music mod is good like End!
Satanás 7 Oct @ 10:38pm
@lea It's possible there's a conflict with another mod. I've always used this mod on my local server without issues, but since September, I haven't been able to launch the server with the mod enabled. Now that I think about it, I did test a server with only the music mod enabled, so maybe it's corrupted? I can use other true music mods, just this mod. I'm not sure. I'm not playing much until version 42 is stable, so it's not a big concern. I just wanted to check if this is a known issue.
kassidy  [author] 7 Oct @ 6:38pm
@Satanás No? This mod hasn't been updated in years and no one has commented anything to that effect. What problem are you encountering? Infinite loading?

You may not have the required space for the mod wherever the server is starting. When you first spin up a server, it downloads local copies of the mods it's intended to run. If it can't do this, it will hang forever.
Satanás 7 Oct @ 4:09pm
Hello, for the past month I haven't been able to launch a server with the mod on. Is this a known problem that will be fixed in 2.0?
kassidy  [author] 1 Oct @ 4:50pm
@Ariex We just didn't like the idea of reuploading True Music ourselves. We don't begrudge others doing so or using reuploaded versions themselves, but the idea of fully repacking True Music didn't sit right with us.

We will release the fix for sound emitters as a standalone offering when 2.0 is ready so that anyone who uses True Music can benefit from it, but 2.0 will include it so that you don't have to download both. Just bear in mind that we have no plans to permanently support True Music or act as custodians for it in its infinite undeath!

Or, to put it in a more human way, we aren't committing to maintaining True Music in any way--this is a hopefully one-time fix!
Ariex 1 Oct @ 1:54pm
@lea what's the point of incorporating the fix for a dependency here Wouldn't be better to just post your fixed version of True Music b42? Genuinely curious about your rationale there
kassidy  [author] 27 Sep @ 3:10pm
MFTEOTW 2's upload will support both B42 and B41 and actually has a feature that only works in B42 currently (the ability to decide whether you want to display vinyls facing up or slanted)!

2.0 also introduces some fixes for True Music in B42. As far as we could tell, True Music B42 has serious problems with sound emitters breaking when you get too far away (so True Music players stop playing music when you get to the distance where the music would start to fade), and we fixed that!
Cash 27 Sep @ 4:04am
Hate to be the one to say it, but is MFTEOTW 2.0 going to be available for b42? Or is it gonna "kick ass" only in 41?
Krytera 24 Sep @ 3:20pm
So excited for the new update
WrongTypeOfHero 22 Sep @ 10:37pm
oh awesome! keep up the good work!
kassidy  [author] 22 Sep @ 9:40pm
Also, we have a nice bit of news: The script manager is coming along well. No two ways about it, we've taken two more months than projected and counting, but trust us, it's going to kick ASS.

A major upside to the rewrite is that radio stations will now be ad hoc. You can edit them without restarting your world or server, and clients don't have to download a thing from the server. Everything is host-side and realtime!

This is especially good news for servers, where we love the idea of server owners using the dialogue system to provide in-game news and info. This way, you can change your track-listing and dialogue in minutes without forcing players to restart or download anything!
cutiebabysparkles 22 Sep @ 8:32pm
I really like this idea! ty for the reply
kassidy  [author] 22 Sep @ 2:34pm
@cutiebabysparkles Hi there! You should know that when Music for the End 2.0 comes out, it will include a system that allows our entire loot system to work with all True Music mods. That way, if someone has both our mods installed, our loot system will apply to your mod, including your tracks in the loot-boxes, in zombie drops, and smoothing out drop rates in general.

It also means that you will be able to include your own items in our Easter Egg drop pool, among other things!
cutiebabysparkles 21 Sep @ 5:12pm
hiii id like to if it would be possible to only have the hoard boxes items or something for my music mod im making on my server or to at least have my own music added to your hoard boxes when having both mods
kassidy  [author] 9 Sep @ 2:51pm
Hey folks, not much news, but I just want to post and assure folks that we're still hard at work! Rewriting that major system is taking a bit longer than expected, but we really want to get this right so that the mod is as usable as possible from day 1.

Plus, every day that the code things take longer, I'm given more time to refine the tracklisting for the upcoming Encore expansion. SO many bangers. We're up to 200 songs in the Main and Extended packs, 250 in the Home Labelled pack which I've been sharpening constantly and replacing songs with songs I'm more passionate about, and a ton of really fun easter egg tracks.

MFTEOTW 2.0 will be WAY worth the wait, trust me!
Garfield. 27 Aug @ 12:58pm
okay, i have no idea what happened within the past week or so but i was playing on my b41 save, everything works fine, went to load it up yesterday and every cassette/vinyl had a ? as the icon, thought this was a weird corruption bug, reinstalled mods, didnt help

proceeded to open a cassette horde, gave me an error and didnt drop any cassettes, thought my save was ruined so i started a new save to test, same things happened but now there was an error every second about loot spawns

eventually after so much troubleshooting i found out that the spawn errors were caused by true music radio, but from what i can tell the icon error is from ANY mod that adds icons

this definitely isnt on your guys end since this mod hasnt been updated in a while, it isnt on true music radio either, as that hasnt been updated in months...

i dont know what the hell happened and am posting this here to see if anyone else can verify im not crazy :spiffo:
kassidy  [author] 21 Aug @ 10:45pm
I think quite hard about the track-lists and I've been having a lot of fun curating them, honestly. Right now, the track-list on the pastebin is way way behind where I'm at, and I've got a really well formatted, neat and tidy looking track-list that will go into a topic on the discussion forum for the upload when the update drops.

I'm really excited about Home Labelled in particular. It's my music taste rather than a general vertical slice of music, but I'm getting it refined as hell with some real bangers. I'm confident about including it as part of Encore because it's so good, I want folks to use it!

I can't wait to share 2.0 with y'all, I can't be shy about it, this shit's gonna' kick ass in every way.
Norinia 21 Aug @ 10:33pm
Thank you for still working on this and keeping it organized :) A lot of True Music lovers end up just dumping their random playlist with no way to know what their mod actually has.
kassidy  [author] 21 Aug @ 5:12pm
Hey folks, just want to talk about where we're at.

No bad news, just lateral news! On the code side of things, we're having to rewrite a major system to accommodate some expandability that we want to make sure people have access to--that is, editing the content of radio stations easily.

I have been working on refining the custom zombies and, more importantly, the track-list! I just keep coming across amazing songs for the upcoming Encore expansion, and I've been heavily tuning Home Labelled to make it as absolutely wall-to-wall packed with bangers as I can. Heads up that Home Labelled will soon become Encore, as Encore will release to its workshop page and absorb Home Labelled as a new branch for Encore.

I can't give any ETAs, it'll probably be a bit with this rewrite, but things are looking great!
kassidy  [author] 19 Aug @ 7:10pm
All tracks in this mod appear on both formats.
Tr4ppeR 17 Aug @ 11:28pm
are some tracks exclusively vinyls or can i just disable vinyls and have everything spawned as cassettes?
WrongTypeOfHero 15 Aug @ 9:56pm
Then wait a moment for the object to load. Those appear whenever the object is unable to load in
ChipR 15 Aug @ 9:38pm
nope
WrongTypeOfHero 15 Aug @ 8:24pm
Are you using Proximity Inventory? @ChipR
ChipR 15 Aug @ 2:14pm
i keep finding this item "wait a moment or stop using proximity inv.." scattered all around buildings
what are those about?
WrongTypeOfHero 7 Aug @ 6:18pm
yay more loads!!!
kassidy  [author] 7 Aug @ 5:25pm
You will all be pleased to know that I remembered today that Harry Enfield's classic smash-hit "Loadsamoney" is from the 80s, and it will be coming in the Encore expansion.

Get ready for lods of emone.
WrongTypeOfHero 6 Aug @ 3:39pm
:steamhappy: Excited for this when it comes out!
kassidy  [author] 6 Aug @ 2:43pm
Hi folks.

Just want to put out an update that work is ongoing. We are carving towards the last bits of our to-do list, though I still can't give any estimates as who knows what bugbears may surprise us in the process. Mostly want to let everyone know that the mod is very much incoming still.

A lot of the work left to do is with our incredibly talented coder, so I have been somewhat more frivolous with my time and have been hard at work adding a lot of classics to the upcoming Encore Expansion. It has ballooned from 190/85/10/40 songs to 200/150/15/50 songs. The Home Labelled branch is now at a hefty 250 as well, up from the mere 99 that it is in the live branch. Lots of bangers in there!

Keep an eye out!
kassidy  [author] 27 Jul @ 1:33am
There's really nothing that the community can test for us--right now it is just a bottleneck of how much we can get done every day. We already know what's left to do and it's just finding the time to do it. It's soon to come, don't worry.

To give you a little insight, a big bugbear we've run into and that we're working through are some issues with the base True Music. B42 seems to have some problems maintaining sound emitters in the way True Music expects, so right now in B42 True Music walking a certain distance from a device playing a song will cut it off entirely instead of beginning to fade it.

The good news is that MFTEOTW will hopefully fix these bugs and make True Music more usable for anyone who installs it--but it is taking us some time.
Ariex 27 Jul @ 12:23am
It's been a month since the patch was first teased. If it's already in advanced testing phase, have you considered opening it up for community testing? It doesn't have to be perfect right away, many of us would be excited just to experience the update and would be more than happy to help identify bugs along the way.

It could be a great opportunity to keep us all happy while getting valuable feedback.
kassidy  [author] 23 Jul @ 6:00pm
Hi -- yes, the long and short of it is that it will be done when it's done, but I do want to give a smaller update.

It's nothing but good news behind the scenes. While we thought we'd be in the compiling and testing phase much sooner than this as you saw of course, the good news is that the mod is now more or less fully in testing and we're ironing out the last kinks.

Things are still well underway and you should expect to hear from us very, very soon.
estrojyn 23 Jul @ 5:16pm
fair
WrongTypeOfHero 23 Jul @ 3:55pm
@estrojyn It'll be done when it's done
estrojyn 23 Jul @ 3:22pm
any further updates??
kassidy  [author] 14 Jul @ 6:18pm
@KasioPuppy Yes, 2.0 will support both versions and the radio will function in B41's multiplayer. Hopefully support for both will be hosted in the same upload.

@klapsu You search for them in the Item List as with any other item. I'm not sure why you'd be having that issue, my apologies.
KasioPuppy 14 Jul @ 5:30pm
will 2.0 work on both b41 and 42 when it drops?
klapsu 14 Jul @ 12:19pm
how can i get specific cassettes in the admin menu? i'm searching for house of the rising sun and i can't find it anywhere in the admin item menu
albion  [author] 12 Jul @ 7:51pm
there are unofficial ports of true music for build 42 that seem to work well enough
hoodie 12 Jul @ 7:44pm
So does that mean the 2.0 will drop anyway or will it be put off until a working port can be made?
kassidy  [author] 12 Jul @ 2:18pm
My understanding is that True Music is currently broken in B42, mostly due to updates to the file structure. Much speculation abounds about Tsar and how the situation in Ukraine may have impacted or halted his development, but whatever the case, it seems unlikely that he'll return any time soon.

Consequently, all we can really do is recommend people pick up unofficial re-uploads of the mod. I don't normally support that kind of thing, but obviously these are extenuating circumstances. MFTEOTW will not contain this and will need such a reupload to work.
hoodie 12 Jul @ 6:38am
Is this mod going to be able to function independently? It seems True Music b42 is broken currently
kassidy  [author] 9 Jul @ 12:26am
A little sneak peek: One facet of our time spent has been circling back to touch up old features we had new ideas for. It's a small facet, but has yielded big results!

They're still in testing, but our new traits look like this:
MUSIC ENTHUSIAST (-1)
- 20% chance to find an extra cassette in any relevant container
- 1% chance (on top of normal rates) to find a cache
- Spawn with 10 random cassettes

MUSIC COLLECTOR (-2) (mutually exclusive with above)
- 33% chance for bonus cassette
- 2% chance to find a cache
- Spawn with 15 random cassettes, a blank cassette, and a wearable boombox
- Gain +10 items upon opening any cache!

MUSIC SCAVENGER (-2) (not mutually exclusive)
- 8% chance to find a cassette on any zombie even if Zed Drops is off
- Small increase to finding easter egg items
- +10 items and 1 blank cassette upon opening any cache!
- Spawn with a cassette bag!
kassidy  [author] 8 Jul @ 8:46pm
@Gab Yeah, I've kinda' learned that lesson in this process! :P That's why I didn't give one!

I completely agree with you on all fronts. It was just a mistake, and not because I feel especially guilty for not making those deadlines--as you said, this is contractless volunteer work for which only one person has tipped me (and unfortunately that tip is only a fraction of what I spent on this mod!)

All that said, the news is all good behind the scenes. :) No ETA, but you should know that I'm very happy with the pace of work right now and I'm honestly just as excited as everyone else to actually get to play with it!
Gab 8 Jul @ 5:53pm
Not really my business but if I may make a suggestion when it comes to ETAs: just don't give them. No point to it. You're not on a contract and you're not legally liable for missing deadlines. You can give updates as to what you've completed periodically, but the only ETA you should be giving is "it's done when it's done". Anything more specific than that shouldn't exceed "ETA in year 20xx". Seen this happen too many times when folks are too optimistic about what is essentially contractless volunteer work.
