@Pureza Corezlaster all the beams actually have art, and is an eventual plan. Sadly, giving them canonical features (missiles, combos, etc.) requires some heavy coding.

However if it would show enough interest... making "basic" versions of each beam is definitely doable. Versions of each type, with swapping most likely done at some sort of workbench.

No missiles (unless it was it's own beam), no modular projectile type (i.e. long beam), and possibly no on-the-fly switching, but most would be accessible.

I would love to see this mod add more than just metroids, maybe some armor and weapons from the Metroid series as well?

Thank you, that will help. Once the coding work can be fully afforded, the mod will be updated, and IDEALLY it will enable the mod to be updated properly between versions, and always be working with at least it's metroid and evolution features.

@The Ducktor this will fully be using VFE. However they are still many abilities and features VFE can't do (and thus requires custom code), which is why the mod isn't going anywhere. There's no funds to update all the coding.

@Un7n0wn right now, the only way to come across them is either specific raids, or in the wild. However, the plan is to have a quest that allows you to enable them spawning, since lore-wise, they would be creaturesd that would rapidly grow and hunt all over the world.

Letting them follow the same pattern as insects could be ideal though. That may happen with certain ones, most likely anything that isn't still considered a "child" metroid.

@SepphorisVT Temperate forest actually. Nothing fancy or modded. I also don't run any mods that change the spawn rates but I do have a few animal mods.

Is there a reason you want them spawning with the normal wildlife? Seems like they could show up as a raid and not be immediately hostile (like insects), to give the player a little more warning and punish them for not taking it seriously.

@Un7n0wn mind providing the biome please? Most biomes have extremely low weight, but I can double check.

As for spawning I'm working on a solution to prevent certain metroids spawning before the player is ready.

Currently, the zeta metroids specifically are a problem early game. On a tribal start, they spawn with the normal wildlife in packs of around 3. Usually, they go on a rampage killing entire herds of even some of the stronger wildlife from Magical Menagerie (I watched one solo 3 kitsune specifically). All metroids will attack colony people and animals without warning (should at least have an animal hunting x alert like the normal animals) and they have a habit of swarming a single isolated creature (would be fine with a warning).

The spawn rate for wild metroids seems really high I'm not sure the exact numbers, but after dev removing a whole pack of zetas, I had a new pack by the next morning. They just don't let you get a foothold if you start below industrial tech. I'll be removing the mod for now, but I really like the direction you guys are going with this and I'll be back after some tuning. We really need more bio horror mods.

Update 8.21.2022

Fission and Fusion metroid defs have been removed for the time being, as they were incomplete metroids and caused issues when present. This may cause one-time missing def errors, but should be safe to ignore.

@GameofGames mote issue is mentioned on Discord (should mention it here), but it just a call for something that's eliminated. It is safe to ignore. EvoGrowth Fission is helpful though! That is also safe to ignore, as it cannot be called either currently.

I can ignore that error and even remove better loading from my list but I am still getting some red errors from RT, regarding "Air puff" and "evo growth fission"?

Is this incompatible with better loading? Better loading gives a warning that not all the .dll files assembled correctly and that it might be a load order or missing dependency. The modlist works fine without rimtroid and I use rimpy to sort and manage mods. There are also some additonal rimtroid related errors. https://gist.github.com/e0f5ac90514f62e4b3342013ff52ab1d There are some could not load reference errors that aren't related. (I switched back to another modlist but figured i should recreate the rimtroid issue to see if I could solve it.) It could be load order related but I figure I would throw out the hugslib here and it might be of some help.

@Best Username To Exist It was actually brought up to a coder yesterday! While the individual beams can certainly be done, making one truly accurate to the series is an absolutely MASSSIVE task, since Rimworld supports very little of what would be needed.

I'll be breaking it down once the time comes to work more on it. In the meantime, I'll probably release a minor mod that at least gives you individual cannons.
