This just enhances them, it doesn't make them super bright. Try to play around with your monitor's settings.

Can you change this so it includes the battle map edges or is that too much/not something you're interested in? I find it's an issue specifically on snow terrain, where in a lot of cases you cannot see the map edge, even if you mouse over it.

It turned out that there were two separate issues:

First, as you say, I didn't have the lock set up properly.

Second, however, there was also an outdated mod that wouldn't allow the game to show border colors at all - regardless of the lock status.

So now I am good! ;)

So it seems you need to clock on the lock icon when you zoom out of the map. @Lampros maybe we both accidentally unclicked that? I see the borders again when that icon is on.

Not a mod issue either. Tested and the same occurs with an un-modded, vanilla game...

Yeah, I've been able to see them fine until this update! ;)

Checked game options, and asked for help on the general forum, and nobody could tell me solution that worked. I guess I will try to go through every mod I have, but they are mostly the same mods that worked before the update, so I don't know ;(

Check if you have a mod that disables borders or if there is any setting in the game's options.

Hi, I cannot see colors for borders at all. What's strange is I cannot even see vanilla border colors if I turn this mod off. Do you know if there are any mods that might interfere with colors? I am so stumped. I've tried every bright/clearer border mods, and I cannot see any colors with them either.

this mod is great! my eyes have trouble seeing the old borders, so this mod helps a lot
