Just wanted to say this mod is amazing!
I personally am not as much into Cookie Run as much as I was in 2022, but I still love the game. I've learned a lot since I've made Gingerbrave (check out my Engineer mod!), and I am planning on making a much more polished version of Gingerbrave sometime in the future
Sure! Just please give credit if you do.
I'll have to give it a shot!
Sure, just as long as you give propper credit
Thank you for all of the support, but I think that this is going to be the end of updates for Gingerbrave for now. Although, feel free to still comment your suggestions for balance changes, and I might give a shot at implementing them if it isn't too difficult.
I'm honored that I could put the first true Cookie Run rep on the workshop, and I took all of your positive comments to heart, I hope you all continue to enjoy his sugary adventures.
3. Yeah, I know uspecial is quite lackluster, but I did that because fspecial is really good for getting back to the stage and I didn't want him to have too good of a recovery, although I could make it more similar to robin uspecial where it throws down 1-3 acorns as they fly away, I just fear that this could be spammed, but I'll test it out.
4. You aren't the first person to suggest that, but the main problem that I run into is how to indicate what direction the cannon would be pointing, since it is constantly shifting sprites, plus it sounds like it'd be complicated to code on top of how it already works, so I think that it's fine how it is right now, but I can totally see where you're coming from.
Thanks for your suggestions, this was very helpful and I'll try to work on these improvements when I get the chance.
Thanks for the feedback!
1. yeah, I've heard that dspecial is a bit lackluster, but the Sora move actually sounds like a really good idea to fix that! I'll do my best to make that if I get the chance(although the way the code works, it may or may not allow me to do that, but I'll give it a shot because I really like the idea).
2. I see, I'm not the greatest with move statistics like frame data and stuff, but I can try to make it more of a combo starter. Although I don't want to give him invincibility, he doesn't have a hurtbox where the fire is, so it's still pretty safe unless you're fighting something with a Belmont's level of disjoint.
(there's 2 parts because steam is epic)
3. up special (pancake cookie), okay this one might be tricky to code, but have pancake drop a bomb where the animation starts so the move can have a reason be used on stage and not just as a recovery because currently the move has no depth whatsoever.
4. neutral special (gumball cookie) feels great, if there was a way to change the shot trajectory that would be cool but its already great so it doesn't matter, it would basically just be going above and beyond
thanks in advance for any changes you do make. I know programming can be, at times, time consuming and difficult and if you are balancing developing out of passion with work or school it is doubly difficult. I just want to see these changes made to improve the playstyle of a character I love and want others to love as well.
1. down special (wizard cookie) should act a lot more like sora thundernaga (from super smash brothers ultimate) since that is how it acts in the original games and it would cover more ground, making the ability feel worth its cooldown.
2. side special (brave dash) should be a combo starter, so less knockback, more invincibility, I know it would contradict the source material to reduce knockback, but it would lead to a more fluid gameplay experience that lets players feel cool while comboing, more weak moves strung together feels alot better than one .
(making a second comment, steam cant handle actual comments)
I don't have much feedback, but here's what I have so far
- Gingerbraves' default ingame color (mainly his white outlines which is his Hair, eyes, and skull buttons) should be more bleach white.
- Just a small suggestion, but do you think you can use SFX from source game instead (Cookie Run: Ovenbreak or Cookie Run Kingdom, your choice). there's actually a ton of effects that might be more fitting over the others, such as Pancake Cookie appearing, Gumball Cookies' gumball cannon attack hit, bat swing and hit, and maybe others if you intend to give them sfx.
Overall, that's all I got. I'll be testing more to see what else I find. I'm just so freaking glad were getting Ovenbreak representation in ROA, this is definitely one of my top 10 best creations this year!
