Alright, let me get this story straight. The original image for this smiling figure is unknown, however it most likely came from Smile Dog, you know, that old 2008 creepypasta designed to make kids pee their pants and do everything in their power to not look directly at it as the creepypasta, as I'd remembered it, was said to invade your mind and tell you to "Spread the word";however, I got that wrong when I was younger, as apparently it threatened to kill you and your family instead. Anyway, the eyes were later given two clicks in Microsoft Paint or something for the blaring white pupils at some point and then introduced to SCP-087-B in 2012. Way way after that, sometime in 2022, some kid took the image and used it for a "Backrooms Smiler Nextbot", even though the exact same thing already exists on the workshop under a different name.
