Why don't you build your own train instead? You can't really expect anything better than this being created in Hammer

Are you exactly in the place shown on the screenshot with the train on it? The buttons should spawn it or you have some problem with restrictions. Check the console for errors

The map list is usually sorted alphabetically, so you can just look for the name gm_subwaytown... And yeah, gm_ maps are in the Sandbox section

I don't even know when will I begin to design the overall layout. Having started it two years ago as my first attempt with Hammer mapping (and 3D modelling whatsoever), so far I've nearly finished just 3 buildings, as I worked mostly only through the summer and spent most of the time doing probably unnecessarily meticulous optimisations. But I don't plan to build a city nor even a village, and I think the terrain shaping will go much faster once I get to it.

TL;DR: Expect at least a year, probably well over that.

This is probably the most complete part I can show you. It's only an attic, but maybe you can get from it some level of detail I'm trying to achieve. I also try to use custom textures where it's appropriate to.

Hyperion I would like to see that map, when is its completion?

Glad you enjoyed it. But as I stated in the description, it's only a reupload, which means that I did not create this map and don't own the source file necessary for editing and recompiling it. I could decompile and improve it myself, but that's not the most reliable process and I think it would be better to come up with a brand new and a more updated train map instead.

But I'm currently working on a countryside-themed build / roleplay hybrid map, which will probably not have any usable rails (although that might change with time), and I dare not start any other projects until it's finished.

i love it! but going up hills with trains need some improvements also add a few more stations. but on the bright side i love it! keep up the good work!

This map sucks with slig wolf's trains.

waitwairwaitwait.... do sligwolfs trains work because they do pretty good on most rails because all the rails are the same width.

Most of GMod trains can't go five seconds without derailing. I guess you can't keep the throttle switch on full forward all the time?
