Cheers Mackattack. I am now coaching Boavista from Portugues 3 rd tier. First thing I had to do was ask the board to invest in youth coaching and get feeder teams. This is a much longer drawn out bet, but these youths will get better as you get better and less likely to be poached.

@-|WaD|-TriCYCLE It is very personal i agree and trust me you fly into rages at all levels ;) The reason I play the game is I love developing youth players and the best place to do this is with the top teams. The grind of lower leagues just dont excite me as much but thats the beauty of this game, the amount of replay value and differing playstyles.
TriCYCLE 30 Jan, 2017 @ 4:01pm
Starting the game with powerful teams (i.e. Barça. RM, B. Munich, etc.) Gives you confidence to set up your tactics and understand the game better without flying into a rage everytime you lose - trust me, this happens far more often than anyone cares to admit :steamhappy:

However; after a couple of seasons of terrorising world football and collecting every award known to man, surely the gamer within dictates we set ourselves a tougher task, a real challenge. Pick 2nd, 3rd division teams you may be fond of (i.e. family from that area, went to visit in summer, had a fling there once... etc) and slug it out in front of 15 away fans for the much needed 3 points for promotion. Enter the world of player loans and bringing in 40 y.o. has-beens on a one year contract to get you through the season, clear the dead wood. Far, far more enjoyable when you get say Burgos FC in Spanish 2nd division B and propell them to CL finalists within 5 seasons.

Just a very personal though, enjoy the game.

@mikaeln6 Its not just about winning with the best team, it was the manner in which victory came. Over 60% possesion in matches, dominating shots and getting nothing but positive comments from the press. Not many tatcics can acheive that.
Matarese 28 Jan, 2017 @ 6:47am
I never used others formation, but I will try this...even it not suits for my Juve Italian clubs and league,I used 3 different tacticts before match, but it was always wide play with very high defense line so I always took the advantage in midfield, with a complete 1 forward who is good with head goals, and another who is in fact playing as a fifth midfielder/advanced but I gave him instructions to play as a defend forward who open up to gain balls and it worked brilliant with Dybala and a more up with Mandzukic as complete forward.I won four consecutive league titles !! In the years when Juve was not the a "top class" team...they were in that time building a new young and big team without Pirlo.Today in real life they built again the Great Juve with Conte that made the same thing I did, then came Allegri and again A Force named Juventus won 4 consecutive Scudetto! I hope they will win this year the Champions League....it's time, they deserve it

Barcelona? you can win with any tactic with this team
:steamfacepalm:

Excellent tactic, concede a fair bit but that doesnt matter when you're 5 goals up
edwardsharp 19 Aug, 2014 @ 5:33am
very good going forward but does concede a fair bit, at least 1 per game and can be embarrassed if a team gets a few early lucky goals
PotThief902 11 Aug, 2014 @ 1:04pm
Thats great and all, but what are the roles & dutys of the players & what are the touchline instructions?

NRAdude45 30 Jul, 2014 @ 11:33am
Sorry for asking this, but I'm not sure how to find/use this? I've downloaded it and everything, but I'm still fairly new to the game so I'm not entirely sure how to implement it.
Lesterkie 28 Jul, 2014 @ 8:07am
brilliant tactic and i suggest you tweak as you go along as it performs differently for diff teams. Like i said previously won the world cup 2014 with England with no changes. with liverpool have been up and down. keep trying different things to suit your team and players.
Lesterkie 28 Jul, 2014 @ 8:06am
So did some tweaks again and for the life of me cant recall all but had as I made changes on the fly and have now a much more solid defence. Possession and chances are lower but we more responsible. will give it another season or two and report back and then try to compare the changes.

city with 13 goals
Mackattak  [author] 24 Jul, 2014 @ 5:32am
@Jaytee-AS has been said in previous posts its really a 'Plug & Play' tactic for the top taems in there respected divisions. Though someone has tried it with Southampton to good success. Have you tried tweaking it at all? Brining the 2 APs back, Playing more Balanced and Controlled? Adjusting Team instuctions? I think it has been mentioned in earlier posts that this will help when playing with weaker teams.
Mackattak  [author] 24 Jul, 2014 @ 5:25am
@Eindbaas-22 goals in a season doesnt seem to bad, whats the lowest conceded in your league so far? This tactic has been updated recently so install the new one. Tighter Marking has been added to team instructions and the DM is now a Halfback.
Jaytee 24 Jul, 2014 @ 2:56am
Does nothing for me. 2 wins, 4 draws and 8 losses in my last 14 games.

Gateshead in League 2.
Jeffke 24 Jul, 2014 @ 1:49am
season update in Pl with united i played 24 games won 19 draw 2 and losed 2! scored 77 goals and leaked 22 goals! what are the best changes for stopping the leaking goals
Lesterkie 23 Jul, 2014 @ 1:06pm
ABSOLUTELY STUNNING TACTIC. the most consistant ever. got england on a 20 match unbeated streak. and won the world cup beating holland 5-1 en route lol. one thing i have seen with Liverpool is, moving from attacking to control. less leakage of goals, i also have match training to the right 30%. Tactics for match and defend for other. and this has liverpool firing much more consistanly. and defending much much better.
chimpansteve 22 Jul, 2014 @ 7:28pm
A great (and I mean REALLY great) tactic if you have a team full of world class players. Complete suicide for a low-to-mid ranking club though. You'll ship a goal every five minutes
Mns 22 Jul, 2014 @ 9:32am
I've subscrided this awesome tactic but i cannot find it in-game.Anyone could help, please?
Aggion 22 Jul, 2014 @ 1:44am
played with feyenoord first season, got 5 losses, made it into uefa cup quarters and won league and cup. i like it! will use it alot!
Mackattak  [author] 22 Jul, 2014 @ 12:38am
So dont think you can just 'plug and play' any tactics, Football Manager has evolved so much over the years now there is so much more you have to consider. I am currently micro-managing players a lot more with FM14, constantly praising/criticising players form and last games, managing individual/team training, gettting high paid players off the wage bill and handling contracts all while looking for good youth players to bring in. But this is why we love the game though isnt it.
Mackattak  [author] 22 Jul, 2014 @ 12:38am
There are other things that will affect the outcome of your match, pre-match talks with the press have to be handled well. Always avoid over confidence, look for the option that has 'we will have to be at our best' or 'it will be a struggle, but we will come out on top' at the end of the answersand pick those. I am currently playing my second seaon with Bayern Munich, the first season I had a 'Medium' win bonus and I let in a lot of goals. My second season I have a 'High' win bonus and I am scoring for fun and conceding much less so this is another factor you need to consider.
Mackattak  [author] 22 Jul, 2014 @ 12:37am
Yeah I noticed that. Anyone who was 'Complacent' at half time, individually I would 'Cautiously' tell them 'I was not happy with them' and that used to get a good reaction. Dont tell your whole team this though as it can have negative affects for the team. i.e if you are 1-0 down or drawing at half time and you have had the most shots and the most posession still 'Assertively' tell you team 'I'm happy with the way things are going, keep playing the way your playing and the result will come'. Only 'Aggressivley' tell you team something if you have the option 'where's your passion lads, do you even want to win this match' I think it goes. 'Aggressivley' saying 'Show me something in the second half' had too many long term negative affects and your players morale really starts to get affected.
Damedius 21 Jul, 2014 @ 2:56pm
@Mack Just to add to what you were saying. I really paid attention to team talks at the end of last season and got promotion to the Premier League. So much of the inconsistentcy I was experiencing could have been to do complacency. After winning big they would be complacent the next game.
vicenteraira 21 Jul, 2014 @ 12:46pm
I will try it (updated) another time, but not so soon. I will report you as soon as I try, ok?
Anyway, thanks for the hint. Tactic is really good in many aspects, just need more defensive solidity, which I will test when I have the time. :)
Mackattak  [author] 21 Jul, 2014 @ 10:25am
I must stress to you though the importance of good training and good press and team talks, if you dont have these perfect you will struggle. The tactic does work well as others have stated and should work for a team like Dortmund.
Mackattak  [author] 21 Jul, 2014 @ 10:18am
Yes the Defensive fragilities have been addressed if you read all the past posts. I hve updated the tactic to include the suggestions that have been made by others and if you update the tactic you will see an improvement. As suggested by 'GFRay' add Team instructions 'Tight Marking'. Opposition instructions are what the assistant tells me, then I use 'Tight Marking' and 'Closing Down' on 'always' for the CF. Then 'Tight Marking' for rest of the opposition Midfield.
vicenteraira 21 Jul, 2014 @ 10:06am
Tried it with Borussia Dortmund, during the pre-season friendlies it seemed promising: too many ball possession, chances to score, pressure in the offensive midfield, etc.
Then came the Supercup: a defeat by 2x1 to Bayern. Ok, a "normal" result so far. I beated by 3:0 a shitty club in the Pokal (Cup). Then, in Bundesliga debut, I won by 3:1 versus Nuremberg in an away match; 3:2 against Hannover at home, than came a defeat by 2:3 for Hertha in Berlin; again a victory (I forgot against who), by 4:2; another defeat strode, this time, against Freiburg, by 2:3. I won against Shakhtar Donestk, at home, by 2:0, but in a luckily way, not impossing the style, after it, a pathetic 0:0 versus Eintracht Braunschweig and I gave up of the same.

The tactics have their pros, but the defensive fragility and the opácity of Lewandowski in the atttack made me kinda disappointed with that.
Anway, thanks for sharing it.
Damedius 20 Jul, 2014 @ 11:43am
@John Mcnicoll. This is a very demanding tactic. If you don't have good players your players are liable to make mistakes. These mistakes will turn into goals for the ooposition. For a lower team I would recommend changing to control and removing high tempo and hassle opponents. This is a very demanding tactic. I'm in the championship league with a weak team and my team is inconsistent with this tactic because of that. I can win 4-1 one game and be behind 4-0 in the first half of the next game. Despite of this my team is performing way above expectations.
Mackattak  [author] 20 Jul, 2014 @ 9:47am
Just finished my Bayern playthrough, 12 draws, 4 losses in all competitions. Won everything except German Cup. A lot harder than the Barca playthrough and was conceding a lot more goals. As some have suggested earlier you need to change a few things when playing with lower teams. I have changed the DPL back to DM 'Defend' as I was leaking goals with Bayern as well. AS suggested by 'GFRay' I added Team instructions 'Tight Marking' too. Opposition instructions are what the assistant tells me, then I use 'Tight Marking' and 'Closing Down' on 'always' for the CF. Then 'Tight Marking' for rest of the opposition Midfield. Try not to use 'Closing Down' on the Midfield as it can pull your defenders all over the place. I will test out some of the other suggestions I have been reading about like the DM to HB or Reg and report back.
Mackattak  [author] 20 Jul, 2014 @ 9:45am
@Bouldy7 - Not at all true, in fact he won player of the year and dedicated the award to me. I think unfortunatly for those pics he never scored but he was still my best player.
john.mcnicoll 20 Jul, 2014 @ 8:30am
ive been using it with lower league teams...not very convincing
Jeffke 20 Jul, 2014 @ 6:45am
played with united against city it was a away match i lost 4-0 en didnt create any changes. what do i need to do for win against a great team
GFRay 20 Jul, 2014 @ 6:11am
Changes i would suggest: Add the instruction "Push higher up", this complements the offside instruction. I've set the DM to a HB with defend duty. And i've set the AF to a DLF with attack duty. This way he creates much more space for the IF's and AP's and still scores lots of goals..
Bouldy7 20 Jul, 2014 @ 5:52am
Only negative - lack of goals from messi we can see in the pics. Arguably not getting the very best out of him
