I suppose the Badger technically fits the bill of being an armed, warp capable miner, but I think that asking it to deal with a swarm of small SVs won't work either.
I tried heavy lasers and positron turrets for the front two hardpoints, and I'm fairly happy with the turrets- they add decent shield damage against POIs, but do well enough against drones that it doesn't seem like a waste to have them and not heavy minigun turrets.
The issue is that heavy lasers have a block limit of 6, which doesn't put out enough damage quickly enough for some of the thornier POis- specifically I was going for an X-Corp Lab and a couple of X-Corp Computer Factories, and finding that I would lose shield, retreat, and discovered that the POi's shield regenerated faster than mine. It's not that the damage was bad, but with only 6 of them I needed more time on target than the shield really allowed for.
The modulated lasers look like they are more built for the sort of burst damage that the Ghost really needs. Do ultraviolet lasers have no bonus against shield, or only the standard laser bonus? They might be a nice compromise if it's the latter.
The Gamma lasers are really powerful against shields, but they come at an insance CPU cost and have a terrible range. So I tend to prefer the regular Laser cannons or their heavy variant.
Positrons are kinda ok I guess? I still prefer heavy minigun turrets for more anti-figher firepower.
The obvious option is to fill in all the slots with more of the same, then just upgrade what can be upgraded, so that you'd have heavy minigun turrets on all the turret hardpoints and heavy laser cannons.
But I suppose you could also opt for gamma lasers on the lower fixed hardpoints and put positron beam turrets or laser turrets on the front two turret hardpoints. For those who've already tried one or the other, which would you recommend?
The impression I got and the progression I followed is that this is supposed to be more of a mid game ship- you use the Badger with the Penumbra, then keep the Badger when you first upgrade to the Eclipse, and then replace the Badger with this once you have another solution for mining.
@Ente- I see a long ranged radar listed in equipment, and I definitely paid the advanced upgrade kit for the blueprint, but it seems the game decided to screw me over because mine came out without one. I figure these weird bugs happen and I should just replace it, but i'm not sure where it goes- there's no obvious spot that i can see, and I can't find it in any of the images. Is it buried in the hull somewhere?
@andreich.md: Brauchst das Reforged Eden Scenario, die Bomben gibts nur in dem.
@Icy: Missing generators means you probably tried to spawn it in Vanilla. Use the Reforged Eden Scenario instead.
@Hecken: Bless you! *Looks at thumbnail* whats with it? Oo
...*cough*thumbnail*cough*... xD
What I can always recommend is the Anvil Discord. There they have the "Anvil Catalogue" channels where they catalogue selected blueprints for a given purpose, like e.g. Starter SV. They also test the blueprints to ensure they actually work within some basic requirements.
The Ghost here has actually been built for this catalogue, but is not yet included there as it still needs to be tested by the guys.
Thanks :)
