They need to be flammable. lol

Something like fabric panels could be used to build larger structures, similar to armor panels. Really, I just want to be able to make a HAB like in the martian.
Razametaza 20 Oct, 2022 @ 6:24pm
Have you considered hinge and/or rotor passages?
I tried using the L-shaped fabric passage blocks that are available to make a crude 'elbow' hinge passage but the collision tolerances caused the two grids to have A Bad Time.

this could be used to make extending pressurized docking ports

This looks like a fun mod. Could make for some interesting builds!

@shumbalion Thanks, nice catch. I hadn't even noticed that, as I already had the blocks in my hotbar, so I wasn't looking for them. I just fixed these.

Thanks for the suggestions. I think I'm going to have to remake these, as I took a look back at them over the weekend and realized that they are just really poorly made, and it makes it hard to make any edits to them without clipping everywhere, etc. I have a process in mind that I think is going to make it much easier to churn out new blocks, if it works the way I think it will.

Small typo in your icon path in BlockCategories ;)
<icon>Textures\Icons\FabricPassageExtension.dds</Icon>
should be
<Icon>Textures\GUI\Icons\FabricPassageExtension.dds</Icon>
Thus why I wasn’t seeing the graphics :)

+1 for small grid :D These are super sweet, and all the more impressive when you have them in game! Its great to have blocks that step away from the rigid structures SE is dominated by. As for "Add a vertical block" in your todo list, id love to see a 1x2 or even 1x3 slope. Keep up the good work! Now to download this 20 times until steam manages to send the missing icon file lol.

Go home, Mike. You're drunk.
TheGreatMike 11 Aug, 2022 @ 11:16am
Can you make them flammable?

.. asking for a friend.
kickformoney  [author] 7 Aug, 2022 @ 9:23pm
Thank you very much for saying so. I've made a few more mods for my personal use since this one, and once this project at work goes live, I'm planning on revisiting this mod with some more experience and knocking out some of these items on the to-do list.
FrogStrFytr 7 Aug, 2022 @ 9:08am
I think what I like the most on your mod is the idea, that canvas becomes more useful! there are some ressources in SE that ... could simply be more useful. And you've seen that opportunity!
FrogStrFytr 7 Aug, 2022 @ 8:58am
amazing work and great idea!
kickformoney  [author] 16 Jul, 2022 @ 8:26am
I might if there's enough interest (as there are a lot of blocks), but the smallest these can be for a small grid block will be 5x5x5, which is pretty hefty for a small grid.
Paladinboyd 15 Jul, 2022 @ 3:27am
May I ask if there would be a small grid version?
FifthPegasus 12 Jul, 2022 @ 8:21pm
This looks great! Possible to make an airtight hinge style? I do know that airtight-ness is wonky as hell in flexible blocks. There used to be something similar and you could put your head inside the airtight space from outside the block. I found it funny.

And I am seconding the Extendable one mentioned below
kickformoney  [author] 12 Jul, 2022 @ 7:45pm
Thanks for the suggestion. However, I don't believe that what you're looking for is possible in the engine.

As far as I'm aware, SE considers an airtight interior to be the empty space between six airtight blocks. The only way to pressurize the system would be to have separate top, bottom, left, right, etc. pieces and paste them together to make a "single" airtight passage.
Renay Edor 12 Jul, 2022 @ 5:38pm
some blocks I think could be really useful could be a 'vent' block, so that the interiors of the corridors could be separately pressurized from other grids (it might help with your weird pressurization thing? Still not sure I understand it right but i'll make it work :D)
⎝⧹Greedynuf⧸⎠ 25 Jun, 2022 @ 8:39am
I think I saw red vent
DiamondKnight1 24 Jun, 2022 @ 6:43pm
@kickformoney Yeah for sure and at the moment we can still use pistons to extend a tunnel. Might be a little janky but i can make it work
kickformoney  [author] 24 Jun, 2022 @ 5:50pm
@DiamondKnight1 Okay, thanks, that sounds like an interesting use of a door block. I haven't worked with subparts, yet, but I'll add it to the to-do list.
DiamondKnight1 24 Jun, 2022 @ 5:42pm
@kickformoney, yeah with that you're halfway there if you wanted to make an extending passage. the trick is to use a door block. The "door" part is the tunnel that extends instead of hinging like a normal door. Thats how its done in the mod i linked if you're interested in seeing how that works.
kickformoney  [author] 24 Jun, 2022 @ 5:25pm
@DiamondKnight1 I think the main issue with this is that these meshes are paper thin to support the look and still allow an engineer to walk through them without clipping through the mesh. It's already a pretty tight squeeze, as it already doesn't have enough room to allow you to walk through in third person.

These blocks are all airtight, despite being open on one or more sides when placed (please place responsibly), I just didn't want to limit the scenarios that they could be used in, so technically, you could slap one over a door, half block, etc., and have an "always open" passage through one of these, if you were so inclined.
DiamondKnight1 24 Jun, 2022 @ 12:55pm
Also for everyones information any block can be made air tight with the correct hitboxes. The hitbox and the model dont have to match. This star trek mod I linked also has an airlock door. even when the door is open its still air tight. Same with the force field hangar door, open closed on off its still air tight either way. An airtight hinge is possible as long as the air box of both halves of the hinge overlap.
DiamondKnight1 24 Jun, 2022 @ 12:53pm
@kickformoney check out this mod. There is a docking umbilical in this mod. Its a door that extends. Its hitbox is air tight and it links to a connector block. It makes an air tight seal between two grids without merging grids. Even works with small grid and large grid. https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2634862322
g o o s e 24 Jun, 2022 @ 12:01pm
@Xecutor I know that Spacebar has a hinge and rotor with a hollow inside so it is certainly possible, but I doubt it will be possible to make it airtight
Pounce 24 Jun, 2022 @ 9:53am
Articulated passages seems to be an technical challenge, the physics engine hates them
LSG123 24 Jun, 2022 @ 6:28am
i for one would love if you did an extending one, really want an extending docking tunnel and the only one that exists is way too massive, tried making one with pistons n stuff but the amount of clang is completely unmanageable
kickformoney  [author] 24 Jun, 2022 @ 4:31am
@DiamondKnight1 If by "extending" you mean you can manually lay and weld up block after block, then yes! But if you mean it in the way I think you do, then, no, there's no animation with these blocks, and if that's a possibility, that might be a while, as I only started working with Blender a few weeks ago.

@Xecutor I don't know how I would make the deformation work (or the action, since you'll be inside it), or if any of that's even possible, but I'll look into it.
omni 23 Jun, 2022 @ 11:59pm
i now kinda Expect to see someone do a video of attacking a ship using this to make a Bordering tunnel
Xecutor 23 Jun, 2022 @ 7:54pm
I was thinking a hinge you could walk through that bends like the vanilla conveyer hinge
DiamondKnight1 23 Jun, 2022 @ 7:12pm
Is this an extending docking umbilical?
Totally Not An Illuminate Spy 22 Jun, 2022 @ 6:18pm
What that guy is probably meaning is a version that hinges/bends like the hinge block.

If I recall right, the OG modded hinge had baffles as part of its design, like your blocks. If you ever consider tackling it as a challenge, you might be able to refer to that?
kickformoney  [author] 20 Jun, 2022 @ 2:38pm
@Xecutor Thanks. I'm not sure what you're thinking of, can you elaborate?

@jterry1124 Thanks!
jterry1124 20 Jun, 2022 @ 12:44pm
Nicely done. Keep up the good work.
Xecutor 20 Jun, 2022 @ 12:03pm
Cool stuff, ever think we'll get a hinge version?
kickformoney  [author] 19 Jun, 2022 @ 7:51am
Thanks for saying so! I made these to use in my buddy's server, but he doesn't seem interested in using them, so I'm glad they're not going to waste!
Totally Not An Illuminate Spy 19 Jun, 2022 @ 3:09am
I really like these. Keep up the good work.
