Hello. I am very happy. that you decided to take up this mod, because the mechanics are just gorgeous. But I have a question for you: I manage the role play server and now we use the damage field for quests.simulating radiation. Could you help us a little? We need one single block. which could change the range and power of radiation. The final goal is that players must look for the right ways in destroyed cities and bypass/ repair dangerous zones (put a dome made of impenetrable materials)

@Jorenge05 Had to look that one up, looks like it could be a neat early game option

@geraveoyomama That is a long term goal as I like IO and having to engineer around that much heavy equipment would be a neat challenge

@Laskoviu_mat I really wish I knew unfortunately about the time I took over the mod I got a promotion at work and *poof* went my free time. This project is always in the back of my mind though and I have a bunch of ideas to expand it.

@Mr. Synnystr The hand off didn't go poorly, the mod was already a bit broken when I got it which why I wanted to fix it (try Punks to see what I mean). Sadly when I went to upload I must of borked something, after asking some questions on the modding discord I have a possible path forward I just need the time.

I'm sorry the hand-off went badly for you, TheSuperIntendnt. Looks like you've got a good bit of work ahead, but... Take your time, I'm sure you'll get it all sorted.

... Meanwhile, I'll be following this mod with great interest (I'm surprised I didn't hear about the previous one, I've been saying that reactors should be a bit more dangerous than vanilla lets on for some time now), and I'm looking forward to when it's in a new, and stable condition.

This should be Fun. :steamthumbsup:

theres also an idea of gas cooled reactors, so when the mod is finished but you have a feeling to add more theres always new ideas that will come to ones mind
also love this mod even if its broken

Hey, take your time! I get it; life comes first.
I only knew about this mod because it made the developer's community spotlight.
Maybe you can get someone to collaborate with you, and help speed it along, alleviating some of the work load. I'd help, but I don't know the first thing about making mods in this game.

I look forward to when this mod is working again!
If it can be made to be compatible with the modern and fancy HUD, and the HUD elements of Eat. Drink. Sleep. Repeat! mod, I will be in SE heaven! Vanilla HUD really needs an overhaul, and some color.

Just an update, I have been messing with the code when I have time(new job has been burning my time/energy) but don't have anything ready for release, the second I do you'll have it.

@Destiny Getting everything working is my first priority but I like the idea of separating the reactor overhauls from the hazards, the challenge will be maintaining compatibility.

Again sorry for the delay, I haven't forgot about ya.

Doesn't seem to work.
I can build all the stuff from the mod, but none of the hazards seem to be in play, and reactors appear to be unchanged. I'm running a few survival mods, so maybe they're interfering? Doesn't seem to matter if I place the mod above or below the others. Always have Tex HUD API at the top of my list, as a lot of QoL mods I like require it. Other mods work fine, so I'm not sure what's going on with this mod.

I'm guessing this isn't compatible with Eat. Drink. Sleep. Repeat! and the HUD - Modern and Fancy mods? I'm not getting the HUD elements like in your screenshot.

fusion reactor would be exactly the same as the no-radiation-electricity reactor one, just no control rods.

ohhhhhh i love this reactor meltdowns funnnnn :D
but can you make a version that is just solely the reactor runaway/meltdown
it would only have the new reactor mechanics.

no radiation, no electricity damage.

i would also like it if there was a fusion reactor version (basically, no control rods, in science fiction these things are powered by lasers and are usually a pure ball of energy from the lasers)

yea work on fixing has the Base and Framework there then add new stuff no point to add more stuff if whats there doesn't work

Sorry for the lack of progress, IRL is rather nuts right now between work and family stuff.

Once I get things working again I'll look into adding new stuff but to answer some comments:


@Tasty Mango The original mod didn't effect NPC owned reactors for that exact reason (but they would if you take ownership)

@onewhofound In its current form perhaps, I'm hoping to improve that

@Rusted Droid The original mod was compatible but didn't any interaction I'll have to see if its possible

sounds like now Fighters need more Heavily Armored Reactors and Combat Ships could Benefit From Emergency Eject Buttons for Reactors to Save the rest of the Ship From a Meltdown

This mod is for adding a lot of annoying mechanics that add nothing to the game except waste your time repetitively doing the same task over and over.

Though how well does this play with NPC reactors? Do spawned ships suddenly go nova if they were made before this mod?

This mod look's like it uses as on the tin description. So i'm hoping it works off in game queues as in to hot take damage to cold take damage reactor leaking take damage something sparking have a shocking time. If this only applies to reactor based on redlining the reactor to heat it up I would like to see spark damage added to other broken block's heat added to refinery's and furnace and maybe cold added to H2 generator and O2 tanks ?
