is this mod no longer being developed
Faire Agarwen 16 May, 2016 @ 5:00pm
I was literally thinking about Star Trek mods for Civ 5, specifically new civilizations. The Federation itself, the Vulcans, the Romulans, the Ferengi, the Cardassians, the Borg (the civ you never want to play against!), the Klingons (obviously, because Star Trek without Klingons is like Star Wars without the Force...)

you should continue with this please

@Hadron you should make these! there are lots of people who would love to have a collection of trek mods in the civ v workshop. while itzzikei might make a collection for be, many players would prefer one for civ v, because a. civ v in its current stage is a better game than be in its current stage, and b. because they dont want to spend their money on buying be.

You should make the Dominon and make there bonus the cost to of production for units are halfed and there matanince to but they are 15% less efective
Hadron 30 Nov, 2014 @ 6:06pm

@Av Kahless is the leader in this mod
Av Rand 24 Sep, 2014 @ 4:16pm
Will you have galron or martok as the leader?
Delport Breckland 13 Sep, 2014 @ 5:39pm
Damnit. I was already going to have trouble convincing myself not to buy BE as soon as possible. Now there will be Star Trek mods? Why does the universe hate my budget?!

Humour aside I like this idea and would love to help test your mods, since you are open to feedback. I really hate seeing a very clever mod idea that isn't well-balanced and having to not use it because the author doesn't want to update it. If you do decide to work on the Civ V version, let me know! Otherwise, I will look for your mods when I get BE.

Makes sence really, being orientated to sci-fi.

what, beyong earth?
ChefBoyIkei  [author] 18 Aug, 2014 @ 1:42pm
The only reason I haven't done anything since release is the new civ is right around the corner. I will make the civs there.
Bias Galtar 18 Aug, 2014 @ 6:41am
@JEELEN I would love a space map for this mod, but it will probably never happen. when firaxis had a modder do it for them in civ 4 so they could put in bts, that was probably the only time a modder will make a space map for a civ game. there just arent enough modders, and there are too many suggestions being thrown at them that something as hard a space map for civ v will ever catch much appeal
JEELEN 17 Aug, 2014 @ 4:02am
Star Trek going CiV? Sweet. But...will there be a space map?

...All units get automatic upgrades if within (or once in range) of a cube, upgrades in damage defense are a percentage per era upgrade, also the Borg should have huge advantage in defense bonus vs a civilization after a few drones and cubes are defeated by that civilization (adaptive shields), that bonus resetting at the beginning of each new era. Drones and scout ships that are outside of a 15 tile radius of a cube or a city would receive a penalty of 75% reduction in defense and offense and can only move one tile per turn. Drones that have at least two other drones within a 2 tile radius gain a 20% bonus in offense and only a 25% penalty outside the range of a cube or city. All drones are also workers (like Roman legions).
IronSmith 19 Jul, 2014 @ 7:11pm
...There would only be 4 Borg units; Drone (cheep slow but but strong melee land only unit, cannot embark), Scout ship aka sphere (expensive fast medium ranged amphibious direct fire only can hold 3 drones and has huge line of sight), Cube (very expensive ocean faring long ranged unit that can spit out a drone per 2 turns direct fire only, can hold 8 drones like an aircraft carrier), Queen (general, only one allowed, one gifted free at beginning of game and auto replaced every time it dies after 2 turns of complete anarchy, but provides 300% bonus to any unit within 3 tiles). If a cube is within 10 tile radius drones get a bonus to relocate to any other tile within that same cubes 10 tile radius (transporters, like airport)...
IronSmith 19 Jul, 2014 @ 7:09pm
All resources should output generous amounts of gold and/or food but nothing else. The Borg should inherently have order and autocracy completely gifted to them minus things like bonus to happiness science and trade. The Borg version of research should take the form of assimilation, up to 6 technologies per city captured but only those technologies that have already been researched by the loosing civilization and the number of technologies gained would be based upon the science output of the city captured, capturing the capital city of another civilization would give the Borg all technologies that civilization has researched. Capturing scientists and engineers and generals would provide a random technology (like stumbling over ruins). Ruins would always provide a new technology up-to classical era or a settler afterword. 50% of units defeated would be assimilated (like the pirate upgrade) the other 50% would provide gold...
IronSmith 19 Jul, 2014 @ 7:09pm
The Borg should not be able to research their own technology or develop great people or works of art, adopt social policies, generate faith, generate happiness/unhappiness or golden ages, influence culture, offer intrigue, trade, make decelerations of friendship, denounce other players, or build research buildings or economic buildings, derive benefit from any world wonder nor natural wonder. Also Borg should have no spies/diplomats. Negotiations of peace should be impossible once the Borg make their first attack (inside another civilizations territory, resistance is futile), war can only be ended after a previously Borg-assimilated city is completely raised (capturing a Borg city is not possible). Borg territory is always a 3 tile radius around their city for per-industrial eras, after industrial the radius expands +1....
Bias Galtar 19 Jul, 2014 @ 11:35am
@Zavien99_Anrk the vulcans in enterprise had a pretty strong military (stronger than earth's anyway)
ChefBoyIkei  [author] 18 Jul, 2014 @ 5:19pm
I am going to do seperate Civs as Seperate Mods.
DefinitelyNotRuby 18 Jul, 2014 @ 12:33pm
maybe dominion races could be seperate, but if not:
DOMINION:
>UA - Galactic Rule- +3 culture and +10% combat strength per city state ally, unhappiness from number of cities reduced by 5% per city state ally, +15% science per defencive pact.
>UU - Jem-Hadaar(spelling)- replaces Paratroopers, +25% Combat bonus vs melee units, +10% vs ranged units, however after 5 turns of leaving one of your cities, takes 5 points of attrition damage per turn (runs out of white drugs)
>UB - Vorta Cloning Facility, replaces military base, same as military base but gives +3 food and +2 Culture.
>ALSO, new wonder: The Great Link, unlocks after researching Atomic Theory, +5 culture, +8 faith, +1 food, +2 unhappiness, +1 production.
Lentrax 18 Jul, 2014 @ 3:13am
Another idea for the Borg as a playable civ might be something like:
UA-Collective Mind (Unhappiness from number of citizens reduced by 50%)
UB- Assimilation chamber. Replaces Courthouse. Allows Borg to build the original civ's UU.
UU- Drone (replaces Mechanized Infantry) Has Siege and March promotions.

Just a thought.
Commissar Crow 17 Jul, 2014 @ 6:56pm
Borg (Revised)
Special Ability- Assimation (66% [same as Germany] chance of defeated unit joining your side)
Special Building- Maturation Chambers (15% production bonus on melee units)
Special Unit- Drones (+15xp and 25% combat bonus against citys)
Commissar Crow 17 Jul, 2014 @ 6:54pm
The Vulcans could be the religous/culture based civ, and have a nice bonus for combat troops. Maby something like "Logical Thinking (15% more effective in combat)" or some other bonus I can't think of as of now... And definatly have some sort of special temple as their special building, have it produce 2 religon and culture.
Zavien99_anrK 17 Jul, 2014 @ 9:56am
this could be a very interesting mod but the planned civ are generally all military (and something) with the exception of the vulcans (culture/science) and the ferengi (commerce/ city state). iv been racking my brain to think of other more varied factions, the minor civs being made major might help as they r generally culture based, u'd only need a few more trading civs n u'd have a good balance
ChefBoyIkei  [author] 17 Jul, 2014 @ 9:22am
I like those Ideas @crow, but I have to agree with @Zavien99_Anrk.
Zavien99_anrK 17 Jul, 2014 @ 8:22am
@crow, ur borg r maybe a bit overpowered.... just a tad. drop assimilation to 15 with perhaps an upgrade to 30 thru promotions, would tie nicely to an exp boost thru mut chambers if u drop production bonus to +1 prod + %25 melee
Alanthemoderate 16 Jul, 2014 @ 6:50pm
Breen
Special Ability- Arctic World (+2 food, culture and production on tundra and arctic tiles)
Special Unit- CRM (Replaces bazooka, double attack)
Special Improvement- Slaver Post (Replaces Trading Post, +1 production, may be built on arctic tiles)
Commissar Crow 16 Jul, 2014 @ 5:08pm
Borg
Special Ability- Assimation (100% chance of defeated unit joining your side)
Special Building- Maturation Chambers (50% production bonus on melee units)
Special Unit- Drones (+15xp and 50% combat bonus against citys)
xanther 15 Jul, 2014 @ 9:17pm
Borg should get bonuses against cities and building a huge sprawling empire... all will be assimilated!
HSCrimson 15 Jul, 2014 @ 3:01pm
Klingon Defence Force, Starfleet, and the Romulan Star EMpire should all have their respective races. cardassians are alone and ferengi are merchants. Add Gorn (Lizardmen) to the KDF too as their main attack power.

Just a suggestion, thanks

rich261 15 Jul, 2014 @ 12:47pm
Looking forward to this. Understandably, I think you want to have Klingons, Vulcans etc. as individual civs, even though they are part of the Federation. Hence, rather than having Federation as a civ, could I suggest having Starfleet as a civ instead?
ChefBoyIkei  [author] 14 Jul, 2014 @ 9:30pm
Yeah, I noticed that aswell @mpr101, a temp fix is to use advanced setup. I will try to get this fixed as soon as possible
IAHawk 14 Jul, 2014 @ 11:36am
It bugged me from scrolling through all the civilizations so I can not even scroll through what all I have with this.
McMagic 13 Jul, 2014 @ 10:08pm
This is gonna be good
Circe Tekla Vas-Lansing 13 Jul, 2014 @ 1:16pm
Nice, Can't wait till it is done...
Pah-Wraith Gul Dukat 12 Jul, 2014 @ 5:46pm
@Venetian yes thank you for letting me know, im not sure why it didnt come ot mind.
Charley 12 Jul, 2014 @ 12:18pm
I think that the federation should be seperate races but maybe have like a secenario where they are allied
Bias Galtar 12 Jul, 2014 @ 8:36am
@lorenz.connor refer to my prev comment on pg 2 of the comments section
Bias Galtar 12 Jul, 2014 @ 8:35am
@Sony I noticed this glitch too. The way to get around it is to go into "advanced settings", and then where it calls says something like "player 1: random civ", click on that, and there it lets you pick your civ. a bit more complicated, but it works.
Pah-Wraith Gul Dukat 11 Jul, 2014 @ 10:51pm
Im soo glad somebody took the time to make star trek civs, all of my support is behind this mod. But as of now i cant play it because this mod breaks my scroll down bar for the civilization selection lol.
LoreLock 11 Jul, 2014 @ 9:55pm
you should make seas into stary background so it looks like threy are colonializing (if spelled wrong please exuse) space and boats should be retextured to space ships
