Does this works with reliable smoke?

late to this, but getting the bug while not running MSO - just a variation of the OVA list

removing all of the disabled abilities, with the exception of 'overwatch', seems to fix this. i haven't tested more than this but i wonder if it's something to do with the LW abilities?

another thing: overwatch triggers inside of the smoke if your soldier steps outside of smoke on a blue turn, even if the overwatcher can't see them. for example, someone out in the open and they need alphasmoke to get to full concealment from a overwatcher. the smoke covers the whole area the overwatcher has vision on of the soldiers movement, but because they go a few extra unsmoked tiles behind concealment the overwatcher shoots they immediately as they move, in smoke. this may a known limitation, i'm not sure. it's unfortunately definitely put me off, as the use case is very llimited.

having the same error... all abilities grey out, cant move... nothing at all

idk what is causing it but when my heros are in the smoke they cant do anything at all, move, shoot etc

Sup, pretty sure I spotted a minor incompatibility with the Support class by Alpha115. See that class starts with an ability that makes it so that allies inside smoke clouds are meant to heal a small amount each turn while the smoke lasts. So far while playing with both I haven't seen that one ability work at all. It's not a big issue tbh, and I'm loving the way these smokes work now.

Can someone with the bug check to see if disabling LW Classes Perk Pack (and clearing your configs) makes the bug go away?
Deacon Ivory 8 Jun, 2022 @ 6:39am
I just saw a mod list that had the bug with EU Aim Rolls and Sniper Defense Fix. This bug seems to particularly hard to diagnose.
Stranger 5 Jun, 2022 @ 7:18pm
@Deacon Ivory I am also running MSO, and rebooting without it doesn't seem to remedy the issue.
woodydaisy 3 Jun, 2022 @ 4:26am
I aim the enemy unit inside the smoked area increase 20% aim.
And did't trigger overwatch then unit leave the smoked area.

yes running stealth overhaul and have the same prob, i try without it, lets see...
nope, its not stealth overhaul
Deacon Ivory 2 Jun, 2022 @ 8:06am
Some very early investigation is leading towards Musashi's Stealth Overhaul as one potential source of the conflict. Can anyone who has issues verify that they are or are not running Stealth Overhaul?

Can confirm that @crashdandicoot 's 'fix' works as described. I like the idea of this mod enough that if it continues to elude the author, I may try to strip my mod order and attempt to hunt down a possible culprit. If it's related to the ability disabler, I wonder if it may have something to do with RPGO or something like Primary Secondaries/something that has a separate effect on them.

To those who want to continue using this mod while this issue is present, there is a workaround to avoid the issue of disabled soldiers. Go to the XComDLC_AlphaSmoke.ini file and comment out the lines that begin "+AbilitiesDisabledWhileInSmoke ". This will stop you from being disabled by smoke, but it will also allow to use overwatch and other forbidden techniques in smoke. You'll have to be good little babies and restrain yourself from using them when you shouldn't be able to.

@∑3245 Perhaps this would help you figure out the source of the bug since you'd know how those lines are supposed to work
∑3245  [author] 31 May, 2022 @ 2:01pm
@SMmania123 Well I can't fix it because no one has given me any more information other than it drains AP, and I absolutely cannot reproduce the problem. I can't fix what I can't reproduce
SMmania123 31 May, 2022 @ 1:32pm
Until the bug fixed just use [WOTC] Rusty Smoke Concealment, and Grey Smoke Grenades. That's way to big of an issue to ignore. 2 confirmations is enough to avoid it for right now.
SMmania123 31 May, 2022 @ 1:28pm
@∑3245 can you fix that game crippling bug and tell us if its compatible with Grey Smoke Grenades please
PogChamp 29 May, 2022 @ 12:12am
Can confirm there's a bug that disables your soldiers. Almost cost me a mission when I lost 3 soldiers to it
crashdandicoot 25 May, 2022 @ 2:52pm
Seems like there is a bug at the moment causing smoke to render your soldiers completely incapable of movement or any other actions, so perhaps not the best time to download. I have seen this mod working well before though (on Beagle's stream, my modset almost identical to his) so I'm not sure what changed. Looking forward to it being up and running again as it was a great change to smoke mechanics.

@Lux Manifestus
+1 to your idea.

@∑3245
I want to try this pretty badly since smokes was always really boring and unintuitive. But I think i have something like three mods that modifies smoke grenades.. Do you know if Alpha Smoke works with: Grey Smoke Grenades (changes color of smoke from pink to grey for the two existing smoke grenade tiers), Grenade Rebalance (stat balance tweaks), Tier III Grenades (adds a 3rd tier Smoke Warhead along with some stat tweaks to existing grenades)?
Lux Manifestus 16 May, 2022 @ 9:58am
Could you add an option to remove the flanking bonus to targets in smoke? It would be most convenient.
∑3245  [author] 11 May, 2022 @ 2:35pm
@d09smeehan <MHN>
I kinda doubt it will work with those since I believe LWotC relies on the standard smoke.
d09smeehan <MHN> 11 May, 2022 @ 2:07pm
Sounds like a really great addition. It's a shame you weren't able to mess with LoS but this will still make smoke much more interesting to play around with.

Quick question though: I understand that modded overwatch abilities will not be affected, but would the new smoke effects still be triggered by modded smoke equipment? i.e. in LWOTC there are rockets/flamethrowers which leave smoke - assuming they are reusing vanilla smoke tile effects and not some custom thing I'm guessing the mod would still work for these?
marshmallow justice 10 May, 2022 @ 12:45am
Super cool. Makes smoke more than just a "ah I need some defense I guess" (or combat drugs aim boost in modded scenarios).

I don't really know how to add or compat stuff like Dense Smoke or similar smoke perk-boosting abilities that LWOTC has in many of its classes, so I think I'll have to skip on it because maybe they won't work or will cause problems with this new smoke changes, but it's a great addition to the workshop.
Ozy 9 May, 2022 @ 1:47pm
Pretty wacky idea, I like the overwatch-skill type immunity; the aim penalty I suppose is a worthy trade-off.
Stukov81-T.TV 9 May, 2022 @ 7:14am
Very interesting Mod! Congratulations
davidtriune 9 May, 2022 @ 12:52am
this is a nice improvement over my mod Shooters in Smoke are Penalized! I didnt think about OW immunity, nice work

Congrats on release! Looks quite interesting.
