I just tested it and it does work.
Are you even talking about the HUD icon and not the rifle model listed in Requited items?

Should be working now. For some reason, there was a SVU (a Russian sniper rifle) icon for the G3 ('military sniper rifle'), although I did test it out before uploading to the Workshop. Steam, what do you think are you doing…
