We need to update 1.16.2.1!!!
crazyscot2012 17 Jan @ 11:53am
So is there a way to combine this mod with other mods that modify Asatru? So that way this one's holy sites are the ones that work but the tenants of say the Old Gods mod would work?
hedop 27 Nov, 2024 @ 10:56pm
Is it still up to date?
Ġedryht of Wōden 9 Nov, 2024 @ 7:30am
This conflicts with the Wulþus Gutþiudō mod as that mod adds a new Germanic faith. (It's a mod that adds Remnants of the East Germanic cultures).
Tho it doesn't alter Asatru, I don't think so I have no idea why.

@Woden Warrior
Nice round number.:steammocking: But yeah would be nice.
Ġedryht of Wōden 8 Nov, 2024 @ 12:32pm
Why not keep Paderborn? It was the site of the Irminsul tree which would obviously have been interpreted as Yggdrasil to the Norse. The Norse themselves were influenced by the West Germanics (Jutland inhabitants) genetically and possibly culturally (the cult of Odin is speculated to have possibly been influenced by the Celts and spread to Scandinavia by the West Germanics). Besides, Hindus get to have 7 holy sites (adding more holysites for all religions would be great actually).
hedop 10 Oct, 2024 @ 10:10am
That would be cool.

@Siaxares
You can use "*" symbol to tell the launcher to ignore the game version change.
Example:
1.*.* - will show error only when the game will update to 2.0.0.
Siaxares  [author] 2 Oct, 2024 @ 6:33am
The mod works perfectly. But I will update just to have correct version later
hedop 2 Oct, 2024 @ 6:15am
Update?
Siaxares  [author] 10 Jul, 2024 @ 3:54am
@Widen Warrior There are other mods that keep it. I made this mod to solely focus on areas that Norse gameplay actually exists. Decisions, characters etc are a factor here.
Ġedryht of Wōden 6 Jul, 2024 @ 11:53am
Paderborn should've been kept.
Siaxares  [author] 11 Jun, 2024 @ 11:05am
@OdenOlofsson Yes. Unfortunately, holy sites are set on new game start and can't be changed easily after. So the mod will only work if you start a new game
Falubo2008 11 Jun, 2024 @ 4:30am
Is it required to start a new campaign for it to fully work?
Siaxares  [author] 6 Jun, 2024 @ 1:22pm
@Nibbes
It doesn't mess with the UI at all. The names are just Asatru names of those provinces that game automatically gives them if the owner is Asatru. The mod does not change the UI at all.
Nibbes 6 Jun, 2024 @ 1:13pm
Great mod! but does the mod mess with any county UI files?
Siaxares  [author] 3 Jun, 2024 @ 12:46pm
The mod still works. I will make an official update later. (Just to have correct version on Steam)
Décimo 13 Dec, 2023 @ 1:50pm
Does this work in a current game?
Kinnslayer 12 Dec, 2023 @ 3:33pm
Works fine with update
IAmTheMistake 21 Nov, 2023 @ 8:46pm
So does this mod still work even after every other update?
Siaxares  [author] 12 Sep, 2022 @ 3:48am
The mod still works. It will continue to work unless there is an update to Germanic faith. The only files this mod edits are Germanic faith files, and currently Asatru is the only Germanic faith.

I checked the mod on release of Iberia DLC and everything seemed to work, so there is no need for an update. But please let me know if there is an issue with the mod.
HookinDaG 30 Jul, 2022 @ 6:34pm
Hey i was wondering when you might be planning to update this mod, I'm super interested in trying it out!:bad_beauty:
Ghrond 28 Jul, 2022 @ 12:00pm
Honestly, as someone who loves to go for The Kingdom of Mann & The Isles, I adore being able to reform the faith on my own instead of having to arbitrarily grab random counties in Norway, Sweden, and Friese that are not meaningful to my pirate empire in any other way.
UhtredOfBannerlord 19 Jul, 2022 @ 2:14pm
Does this work with the latest update?
Nibbes 16 Jul, 2022 @ 1:08pm
Do you care about balance or making alternative to this with more holy sites plus ones you took out. In my opinion pagans should be able to use any holy sites especially other pagan ones from nearby cultures. Perun in Slavic and Germanic Odin have very similar folklore. The Asatru should have Iceland site plus one In Kiev. Even Roman pagans converted Holiest city in Christianity and Judaism to Temple of Jupiter as partly as middle finger to the Jews.
For example, if Norse pagan reformer went full Mohammad and took over Rome he might destroy Papacy and Christian idols to just replace them with Asatru ones and maybe proclaim a new Rome(under Norse)
GamerFromGondor 30 Jun, 2022 @ 10:06pm
Getting this mod updated for 1.6.X would be amazing, whenever you have the time ofc
Brigid 3 Jun, 2022 @ 11:14am
Tengri's sites are massively spread out. Maybe them next?
Rob'sEvilTwin 1 Jun, 2022 @ 1:26am
Love your work mate. Having Kyiv as a holy site and none in Denmark was driving me bonkers :D
Kinnslayer 31 May, 2022 @ 2:16pm
Love this mod and have to have it now.
Siaxares  [author] 19 May, 2022 @ 9:55pm
@AmericanHeathen

I am not a "viking" fanboy. This is a ultimately a gameplay mod, and completely inline with paradox's policies of how the game should work. Asatru is the only pagan religion in the game that has very spread out holy sites, which makes reformation harder. The only other religion like this was the Finno-Ugric religion and guess what Paradox did to that? You guessed it right, they separated them into two religions, one for Siberians and one for Finno-Ugric area. The old Saxon religion and people don't even exist in 867 start date, and you want to sacrifice the gameplay of the Norse to appease some perceived historical accuracy that is widely contested due to lack of evidence? Sorry, but no. In CK3, paradox has clearly made Asatru religion for the Norse, this is simply undeniable, and this mod builds up on that.
AmericanHeathen 19 May, 2022 @ 6:37pm
@Torture Devices R Us

No point in fighting that battle. The creator is just a Viking fanboy, which is 100% fine. "Viking religion" when viking isn't a race or ethnic group or a culture. Bases the argument around what Paradox put in the game. Meanwhile, Asatru is a modern religion sect that was created in the 1970's Iceland. Asatru meaning "faith in the Aesir" which completely leaves out the Vanir, of which Freya and Freyr are apart of, the ladder of which is the most commonly worshiped god in Sweden, more so than Odin. Paradox puts in a "holy sites" of a possibly fictional hero in Ragnar Lodrok who as a "holy site" for his martyrdom lmao. The creator puts two holy sites in Celtic/Brethonic territory haha love it. I think he is getting culturally significant sites mixed up with "holy sites". The Norse faith is the Germanic faith, we all stand with Odin, Thor, Freya, Freyr, and the other Aesir and Vanir.
Siaxares  [author] 14 May, 2022 @ 3:59am
There is no point in trying to use the term "Germanic" here to force all of them under one Umbrella in CK3. CK3 loves and encourages these separations and unique identities. There is no mention of the Irminsul among viking tribes and I wanted to make the religion serve the Scandinavians and Vikings in this game rather than a none existent Saxon religion (in the game). By the start of the viking age, Paderborn was completely forgotten and abandoned by vikings and it's also hampers gameplay in CK3.

Whether historically they were separate or not, they are and should be in CK3 game, the same way Paradox separated the Siberian and Finno-Urgic religion in the game. If they are forced into one, none of them will get the flavor they deserve. Saxon or Anglo Saxon paganism will need it's own religion, it cannot use the viking one. The game clearly states it is the religion of the Norse and natives of Scandinavia and this mod just works on that.
Torture Devices R Us 13 May, 2022 @ 1:12pm
The Germanic religion was never significantly divided at least in as much as we can infer from the sources, the idea of a separate Saxon religion to the rest of Germanic paganism is ahistorical and kind of silly. We know from the Anglo-Saxon rune poems of a marked continuity between Saxon and Scandinavian beliefs
Torture Devices R Us 13 May, 2022 @ 1:10pm
Paderborn was/is a holy site because of the presence of the Pillar of Awe, and the proximity of Donar's Oak. The Externsteine rock carving in the area shows the Irminsul being brought down by the Christians, but prior to the destruction of Irminsul and Donar's Oak in the 800s this was an extremely holy area for Germanic pagans.
Mina 11 May, 2022 @ 6:46pm
This mod is based.
Rhzyo 10 May, 2022 @ 11:21pm
Great mod cheers, I did change the isle holy sites to Iceland tho just my preference, it's definitely alot easier to edit good mods than to make good mods. Thanks again
Ambitions 10 May, 2022 @ 5:45am
Like the 3+3 distribution. :steamthumbsup:
Dirge 10 May, 2022 @ 2:17am
Thanks for the mod, always wondered why Paderborn was an Asatru site. Kiev makes sense but as you say, it's very far from Norse territory, and it only becomes a viable target in game if you're building a great Norse empire which stretches southeast, so most players won't ever touch it.
Siaxares  [author] 9 May, 2022 @ 12:05pm
@AmericanHeathen
Haven't decided yet, but I might change the tenets too, though not all of them. Sharing at least one tenet between Norse and Saxon religion is ideal in my opinion.

I haven't fully decided on Saxon holy sites either, but the guaranteed 3 are Paderborn, Zeeland and Sjaelland. I've been busy with other stuff, so the Saxon mod will be delayed.
AmesNFire 9 May, 2022 @ 12:01pm
Thanks for this mod @Siaxares

It always felt weird to me that the 'Norse' faith had holy sites outside of Scandinavia, especially in the early start.
AmericanHeathen 9 May, 2022 @ 11:06am
@Siaxares
Are you changing tenets for Saxons or is the only thing you are changing the holy sites?
Siaxares  [author] 9 May, 2022 @ 3:36am
@Dimathevs
Changes to holy sites need fresh saves, so yes.
Dimathevs 9 May, 2022 @ 2:49am
dumb question, this will require a fresh save right?
Siaxares  [author] 8 May, 2022 @ 1:34pm
I actually did a bit of search on workshop before releasing the mod and saw many mods that had different visions for Asatru, and many of them are nice. This was simply a mod I made for myself and decided to share. A lot of things people commented on here already exist on workshop, and they are up to date.
Siaxares  [author] 8 May, 2022 @ 1:20pm
@AmericanHeathen
How can we split Catholicism from Orthodox but not split what the Norse practiced from Saxons? It's ludicrous to claim they were exactly the same. Sure, mechanic wise, they could be part of the same religion group, the same way both Catholic and Orthodox are "Christian". But they should be separate, sort of like heresies of each other. So this way they can share some holy sites (definitely Sjaelland for example) but also have their own unique holy sites as well. Paderborn and Zeeland was never significant to the Norse, the same way Uppsala and Ranaheim were not significant to the Saxons. But Sjaelland was significant to both.
♥ Knife Goblin ♥ 8 May, 2022 @ 12:51pm
@CrUsHeR None of that sounds bad. What is your point?
AmericanHeathen 8 May, 2022 @ 11:33am
@Siaxares
Apparently Paradox needs a history lesson haha, or maybe it was just bad wording on there part. I do love they're games but "Asatru" is a term coined in the 1970's in Iceland for make a modern name of the religion for what the Christian called Heathens during the time of the game. Also called Germanic Paganism. The Irminsul for Saxons is Yggdrasil for the Norse but they are one in the same.

Any who, best of luck with your mods. I would limit holy sites to 5 just so it isn't overkill. Also if you are going to make the the Saxon branch, it would be tough to change anything imo. Everything the Asatru religion in game, the Saxons also did. Maybe add Sacred Groves to the Old Saxon culture. I am working on a Germanic Pack mod myself and did that. Maybe give them their own religion family under Heathen, then have the faiths as Saxon and Norse. Or maybe don't do anything and make whatever you want.
Siaxares  [author] 8 May, 2022 @ 11:04am
@AmericanHeathen
"Crusade"? It's already separate in the game. Paradox removed Zeeland as a holy site in the norse patch, citing it's a Saxon holy site and has nothing to do with vikings, going by that same logic, Paderborn is also not a viking holy site. On top of it, the religion clearly states it's a Norse religion native to people of Scandinavia, so they are ALREADY separate, I am just making it more convenient with this mod to play as the Norse.
