It's a bandaid solution, like you said it would likely be easier for them to make changes to the meme on their end, however it may be their intention to allow Legendary items to be created regardless of other settings with that meme.

They should be compatible now as this version uses Harmony which allows multiple mods to modify the same elements without breaking each other. If you find any incompatibilities please let me know!

I saw some mods that are incompatible with the old one: static quality plus. Are they still incompatible or is it fixed?

That'd work, but would need to be a postfix applied after their postfix to postprocessproduct, so you can know if it reached legendary without an inspiration, which is getting a bit silly. Ideally the VE team would change where they modify the quality, since the current method happens after the message is already sent, meaning the quality in the letter is incorrect. I submitted a bug report/suggestion to their doc, but idk if they'll change it.

Ah gotcha. I'll take a look to see if I can add a compatibility patch to account for that. Maybe add an option to automatically decrease quality by a stage if that meme is active?

Turns out it was Vanilla Ideologies Expanded's "crafting quality increased" meme. It performs its increase in a postfix to postprocessproduct, thus overriding the (correctly limited) quality set by this mod.

I don't think I have any other mods that should affect quality; No Job Authors is the only one I could see potentially conflicting. I'll see if I can debug some more with crafting notifications re-enabled. It could be that my crafters are getting more inspirations than I realized, but it seems like too many legendaries for the small number of crafters I have.

Just tested, and it appears to work as intended for me. Both with 20 skill and Cheat Quality, inspiration was required to create a Legendary item and only Masterwork items were created otherwise. I also tested regular tailor bench and electric tailor bench. Do you have any other mods that affect quality, inspiration, etc.? This mod should be compatible with most things, but if someone affects the quality of an item after it was created, that may allow for creation of Legendary items regardless of settings.

"Legendary requires inspiration" doesn't seem to be working for tailoring benches (and possibly other stations); I keep getting legendary clothes with the setting enabled. Just using an electric tailor bench with a level 20 crafter, happens for vanilla and vanilla apparel expanded items.

Currently, there is no interaction with Vanilla Traits Expanded. Static Quality has Last priority on patching the relevant method, so likely it would overwrite whatever VTE does.

It's very possible, but something I haven't quite looked in to because of compatibility reasons. I'll see if I can think of a way to include skills above level 20.

I don't know how much would be involved with adding an option like this, but I figure it can't hurt to ask for it.
Could you add sliders to allow further adjustment of level thresholds quality? Specifically to allow for ranges above 20 skill. Using a mod like Endless Growth alongside this would stretch out how long before a guaranteed specific quality is achievable.
Again, I don't know what it would take to add something like that.

Seems to have a little bug, it doesn't take into account creativity inspiration. My pawn has produced as a good item, as his skill level determines based on the default settings, but had creativity inspiration, so the item quality should have been two levels higher. (1.4)

You can, they just need to be precisely done. I'm going to work on making them sliders to make it easier to control but in the meantime you need to do them super meticulously. Not sure why it does that when entering the numbers.

The settings can't be changed properly, they're forced to the one after -1 or the one before +1, but any numbers inbetween that should be valid won't take.

That's a good idea. I just pushed an update to add that. Should be working just fine! It's a little tricky getting the values right sometimes as they are clamped in such a way that they cannot be higher than the one after nor lower than the one before, so you need to be a little careful when changing them.

It would be cool if we could adjust where the breakpoints are. For instance if you are lucky one out of the expect 10 times when making an item, you expect to have the following qualities in vanilla:

0 -> poor
1-3 -> normal
4-9 -> good
10-17 -> excellent
18-19 -> masterwork

In a future update, it would be really cool if there were options to change quality based on the type of thing. As in, construction quality being fixed but crafting quality acting more like vanilla, or other things like that

I was about to report the opposite problem to Torres where I'm getting Legendary quality constructed stuff (tables etc) despite it being set to Legendary requires inspiration, but I just noticed I have a mod (which is now redundant thanks to this mod) called 'No random construction quality' installed:

Only mentioning it here because I thought I had a good handle on my mod list, and yet I still missed it, so it may help when figuring out 'issues'.

Also a huge thanks for this mod. Having a level 20 crafter spitting out crap quality Cataphract armour is just plain ridiculous...

I don't believe there have been any updates that would cause this to stop working. Perhaps you have a conflicting addon? It should be compatible with anything that patches QualityUtility::GenerateQualityCreatedByPawn unless it uses a Prefix.

I'm running Duck's Insane Skills, and my Skill 23 Crafting pawn can only build "excellent" Cataphract armor. It's like the... 5th in a row or so now.
Keep in mind I "Crafting quality" precept at "Increased", meaning everything is +1 quality.
So it's all just "good" basically :D

The need for inspiration is also disabled, but even then it should be "masterwork" turned to "legendary" by the precept.

As the pawn has previously made some legendary work, I figure this is because of "skill>20"

When I use drones in "Project RimFactory-Drones "to craft buildings, is it a matter of my" Static Quality Stripped "that I can't get the same quality? Or should I go to the Project RimFactory? Sorry for the mechanical translation

What level was their crafting? As I mentioned, Legendary items can be created without Inspiration in vanilla Rimworld (with Ideology) as soon as level 4 (explained here [rimworldwiki.com]). Obviously, the higher level their relevant skill, the more likely it is, but it's still possible.

Again, the "Legendary Requires Inspiration" only determines the quality of the thing before other bonuses such as Production Specialist or Perfectionist.
