@Nimlothsirion Top! Viel Spaß beim Spielen
Nimlothsirion 18 Aug @ 7:03am
Das komplette Spiel neu installiert, Proton ge 9-22 installiert. Toolkit undves funktioniert wieder... Danke Mudfreak für deine Hilfe
mud-freak  [author] 15 Aug @ 12:54pm
If assume the mentioned file is "_delete_me.vdf"? That is a *hidden* file in the Gothic/Data-folder. Once deleted, it will continue.
luj 15 Aug @ 4:23am
I`m trying to play gothic for long time lmao

every time i turn it on i have notification that i have to delete a file which is not in game folder

any ideas what can i do with it?

and when i`m trying to play without a ninja is not even possible
mud-freak  [author] 15 Aug @ 3:56am
Nimlothsirion 10 Aug @ 8:49am
Muss ich den Toolkit aus dem Steam Workshop noch installieren oder einfach nur abonnieren? Das habe ich schon versucht, da stürzt das Spiel direkt nach dem Intro ab...
mud-freak  [author] 9 Aug @ 4:18pm
As the message states, you will need to install the toolkit. It is also available here on the steam workshop. If you were to follow the link in the message, you can also find a direct link to the steam page.
Nimlothsirion 9 Aug @ 1:20am
https://we.tl/t-ibKfyIZ9m7 is the error.. or I come after the intro straight back to the main where I can start the game...
mud-freak  [author] 8 Aug @ 9:49am
@Nimlothsirion you can use some file or image hosting website to link your screenshot. Otherwise, it's easier to offer support if you open an ISSUE on Github at https://github.com/szapp/Ninja/issues
Nimlothsirion 8 Aug @ 9:24am
Afer the intro it comes back to the main page for a start. Can I add here some photos?
mud-freak  [author] 5 Aug @ 1:02pm
@Nimlothsirion I think so. If you give me some more info, I am sure we can make it work: What exactly does not work; do you have an error or crash?
Nimlothsirion 5 Aug @ 12:20am
hi, i deleted the delete me file , add the toolkit. but it wont work .can you please help me?
LlamaSpitsFire 17 Jul @ 8:38pm
Thanks @mud-freak. Everything works fine!
mud-freak  [author] 16 Jul @ 4:04am
@LlamaSpitsFire Install the Toolkit, like the error message says. You can find Toolkit in the Steam Workshop as well.
LlamaSpitsFire 14 Jul @ 8:37pm
Removing _delete_me.vdf helps a little - game is now loading with Ninja subscribed but there is still issue with plugin Bonus Independent Training - after enabling it shows upon startup "Missing dependency" error
waldlaeufer 14 Jul @ 2:14pm
Deleting the file worked for me.
Thanks @mud-freak
mud-freak  [author] 14 Jul @ 10:25am
If really not a hidden file (need to enable showing hidden files), try completely unsubscribing from Ninja, starting Gothic, then restarting Steam and finally resubscribing. That‘s just a guess. The error says there is a file _delete_me.vdf in the Data directory while the game is running.
Samplastek 14 Jul @ 10:04am
Same Issue as waldlaeufer here: Problem is thet the file "_delete_me.vdf" is nowhere to be found in the steam game directory
mud-freak  [author] 13 Jul @ 11:00pm
@waldlaeufer Thanks for reporting that! That file is a left-over from a previous Gothic session that seemingly didn't clean up properly. In your Steam directory find the Data folder in Gothic 2 ( C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Gothic II\Data ) and delete the file _delete_me.vdf in there. It might be a hidden file.
waldlaeufer 13 Jul @ 10:13pm
After your Update and the integration of toolkit dependency i get following error message when starting the game: J:NINJA: Illegal VDF: _DELETE_ME
Mods:
Toolkit
Ninja
Union - patch for Gothic 2
D3D11 Renderer Mod
obaida.shaban98 13 Jul @ 4:17pm
How can I remove it or solve the problem?
mud-freak  [author] 1 Jul @ 3:16pm
There will be a release that should reduce the false-positive detections. There is just little time at the moment. Please be patient or verify the software using the check sums from the above linked website and add exclusions once convinced.

Ich hab sämtliche Mods + Ninja bereits mehrmals runtergeladen und es scheint nicht zu funktionieren, woran könnte das liegen?

Repair this ... please

Dear mud-freak [author],

As you are undoubtedly aware, this mod is being flagged as malware. From what I've surmised this is a false positive yet it nonetheless instills a sense of unease and dread in me. Help me mud-freak [author], I beseech you!

I need to read it from your own keyboard. Is this indeed a false positive, and will you pinky promise that my information is not sold to Indian scammers? I NEED YOU TO SAY IT.

With regards,
-Me

I allowed defender in windows 10 to run this file and the game (unofficial.modification) is now working.
mud-freak  [author] 13 Apr @ 11:58pm
A code signing certificate was issued to help remove the false positive detection. Read more about it here and how you can support the project and incurring costs: https://github.com/szapp/Ninja/discussions/37

mud-freak  [author] 31 Mar @ 3:23am
Anti virus detection strategies might have changed. Ninja is open source [github.com] and provides check-sums [github.com] for end-users to confirm. The project lacks financial support for explicitly signing the software. For now, this means anyone can help by reporting the file as non-threat and adding exclusion rules to their anti virus software.

Same problem
Skurczybyk 26 Mar @ 11:22am
Also have the same problem as Famrir, couldn't even react because defender already deleted the file and I couldn't restore it

Famrir 26 Mar @ 7:08am
For some reason the game won't start today.I have installed Ninja/Union/ItemMap from Steam and GD3D11 from Github. When i disable ninja the game starts, but when i enable it and try to start,Windows Defender shows this:

Detected: Adware:Win32/Agent
Status: Removed

Details: This program delivers potentially unwanted advertisements to your computer.

Affected items:

file: D:\Steam\steamapps\common\Gothic II\system\ninja.dll

I allowed it in Microsoft Defender and i can play again with the mods, but is it safe?
gandombe 18 Feb @ 11:39am
Can I just say props to the author @mud-freak for being so responsive and making this mod. Even if I'm not quite sure what it does. It makes mods run better? Ok good enough for me. I'm the average consumer
Zuben 4 Jan @ 11:18am
I would never have guessed on my own that this setting could affect on it.
mud-freak  [author] 4 Jan @ 11:14am
@Zuben thanks for letting me know! Have fun playing!
Zuben 4 Jan @ 11:10am
@mud-freak Excluding gothic2.exe in DEP settings resolve problem and gothic2 with ninja has work. Thanks for help.
mud-freak  [author] 4 Jan @ 7:04am
No, Ninja only minimally triggers native engine functions of Gothic and does not rely on any external libraries. You can check if your data execution prevention (DEP) settings have changed (google for details): The gothic executables should be either excluded or DEP disabled/only enabled for Windows processes. Additionally, check if Gothic is installed in the Program Files directories (that should be avoided) and everything is launched with administrative privileges.
Zuben 3 Jan @ 4:40pm
That's exactly what I checked today and it still doesn't start. Are there any net frameworks or somthings unrelated to gothic what can affect the performance of this?
mud-freak  [author] 3 Jan @ 1:09pm
Just to make sure we are on the same page:
1. You installed Gothic 2: Gold Edition on Steam
2. You activated the Workshop Beta
3. You subscribed to Ninja in the Steam Workshop
4. You have (for temporary testing purposes) no other workshop item subscribed than Ninja
5. Your Gothic installation is exclusively maintained by Steam and there is no extra software/tools/mods you installed manually.

In that configuration, my game starts without problems. If you follow the configuration above to the letter, do you still have the issue? Or does your configuration look different?
Zuben 3 Jan @ 12:04pm
I have no idea what happened. I deleted all the Gothic files, installed clean gothic only added ninja and it still doesn't work. On the exact same configuration with union it worked without a problem a few days ago. It wasn't even the reinstall that broke it the first time, it was just checking the integrity of the files on steam.

@obsranayelena Can you write the error message. Maybe there is an easy fix.

@Zuben Have you tried without the zParserExtender (last line in your error trace). Depending on the version this might be integrated in Union. This looks the cause. Ninja itself is unlikely to be involved in the error because it does not modify any of the listed portions of the engine.
Zuben 2 Jan @ 6:43pm
My gothic with ninja work fine but I had to reinstall it. After reinstalation every attempt to launch the game ends with this error if ninja is enable in mod menager. I tried disabling all other mods but it had no effect, game still crash. After disable ninja work without issue.
