Despite having 9999 durability, my sling has reached ~100 in only a week or so in game, is this a bug or is the sling just weirdly easy to break?

G.E.A.R. fixes a *cosmetic* back placement issue, it's *optional* but recommended, I'll edit the description to reflect that

I'm confused. The mod description says Standalone, but you guys talk about needing some thing called G.E.A.R.

I don't know why there are so many almost identical sling mods on the workshop, but can anyone vouch for this one? I'm currently using https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2684045242 and really don't see any difference.

I see, that might be a base game issue since I had to reference vanilla game files to get the back stuff working, at least as long as you have G.E.A.R. or probably even another mod which implements custom attachment stuffs

Seem like it's actually working but only for guns. If i put any melee weapon on my back it displays in diagonal.

as long as you have G.E.A.R. somewhere you're good, load order really doesn't matter much for zomboid, for organization's sake dependencies go low as last is loaded first (bottom to top), and map tilesets should go at the bottom with maps right above them

I played around with my load order and deleted mods to reduce the errors to 0 but now the weapon on the back display in diagonal.

Any idea where i should place it? Early or late? Before or after G.E.A.R?

do you have both this mod and GEAR CORE enabled on both your main menu mods screen and in your save's mods? you just have to equip a backpack and put a weapon on your back slot, not on the sling, if you want the diagonal back attachment where the gun is facing down you have to use the 4th sling position and attach the weapon to your sling

I must be doing something wrong, I've spawned in a few backpacks, and tried the backpack mount but nothing, still tilted on back

if you're talking about the second image, that happens if you have a backpack on you and put a gun on your back slot, for that to work with this mod you need G.E.A.R. CORE

Should be noted, if you're really dedicated to using multiple slings, you can edit the worn layers to have wear multiple.

you can tinker adding files or chunks of code from G.E.A.R. Core if you want, I'm stumped at the moment, I can't really code and making G.E.A.R. Core a dependency does the job for now, I'm on the PZ discord if you wanna hmu

Did a bit of testing and found a few things...

Using this mod with Noir Backpacks Attachments (Probably Authentic Z as well) will make the issue not appear.

The original rifle sling fix by Bambi will not cause it to appear.

I checked the "Sling_ISHotbarAttachDefinition.lua" for this mod and noticed these lines were not commented out compared to the old fix.

I'm guessing this is how you fixed weapons on backpacks not defaulting to their original position without a bag, but this is might be the cause.

Also never noticed before, but trying to use the hotkeys added by this mod (and bambi's fix) when there is no hotbar item (like sling/holster) equipped for that slot will cause an error, but it's probably not severe enough to cause multiplayer games to crash.

noname has helped me find that having G.E.A.R. Core installed fixes the issue where a slung weapon moves to your backpack, please get it if you haven't already

note: ONLY G.E.A.R. ***CORE*** is required

it would be very uncomfortable to sling two entire long guns to your person, your body could probably only handle one slung weapon plus gear, you're lucky the game lets you have a back slot too, which you can still use, also adding the capacity to have more than one sling on you is above my pay grade and might be impossible due to how the game and its hotbar attachments work

It would be nice wear any of the Front Position with another Sling at Position 4 (On the back) at the same time.

most of the impact is in loading times tbh, my PC isn't amazing, I just know what I want to have installed, I've had more issues with modded Ravenfield than PZ even if my mods list for that game is like under half the size

325 mods :O You don't have performance issues?
I've only got 104 installed, but the only mods I can think of that might fix/affect the issue are ones that modify or add slots to the hotbar.

I've tested this using only the necessary mods and I was able to reproduce the issue, it seems some mod is fixing this, but I have 325 mods installed... I'm not going to be able to find out anytime soon. if this mod works correctly for you and your mods list is significantly smaller, could you try to find which mod somehow fixes this issue?

@Heman So if you drag a weapon into the sling hotbar slot it goes into the back slot instead? No mods other than this installed? What happens if you use the "attach to" context menu option? You cannot attach 2 long weapons to your character even while wearing the sling?

@holyjay he means the weapon go to the backpack slot no matter how you use it, I have the same issue.

@noname If you are testing in singleplayer you can add -debug for launch options in steam game properties. It'll give you more info and options like spawning in items without cheat menu. Try verifying files integrity too. Make sure you disabled all mods aside from this one (including other versions of this sling mod) just to make sure this is the problem. Which sling positions are you using? And when you say weapons sling on backpack, does that mean when you sling a weapon in the back slot and another in the sling slot they both appear on your back? Or any weapon on sling keeps moving to the back slot? And lastly, just want to be 100% sure you are not getting the wearable rifle sling and gun sling attachment mixed up.

@holyjay checked this out and same thing. I have only cheat menu now to spawn backpacks for test and still same problem. Duffel bag and satchel works fine, but dont want to work with big backpacks

@noname Is brita/gunfighter the problem? Have you tested with only this mod?

yes and all new weapons and backpacks from brita works as intended. this sling works too but only without backpack or with satchel :)

do you have Arsenal26's Gunfighter? that's a dependency for Brita's

Tried to create new singleplayer with just brita weapons/armor and your sling mod, still sling weapons on backpack, no matter when I equip backpack before or after sling :( any ideas how to fix? maybe I need something else, some mod except this one?

nah patching SLEO is too big scale for me, I'm sure it'll get updated eventually, I use the Transmogrify mod to hide certain items so I guess most of my experience is with the tactical outfits
