So, I'm amused to report that this interaction apparently works as theorised and is fun... up until the shotty/shield Assault Infantry gets mind controlled and I realised my field medic couldn't hit him with an arc thrower to sedate him and get him back without hunting the sectoid hiding behind a pair of spectres.
Well, I guess when I play stupid games I win stupid prizes lol

Just remember that if you are adjacent to enemies you are also giving them half cover.

... now I'm not sure if I should avoid this or cackle insanely with a perma full cover Assault Infantry charging everything with a shotgun with talon rounds for giggles.

This looks like a fun mod to bridge to the Proficiency classes. My inner munchkin is rebelling at me asking this, but I am curious about the interaction between this mod and Iridar's Shield Rework, however.

Since ballistic shields grant a soldier permanent low cover status, does that mean if I munchkin a bit and give low profile to a phalanx or an assault infantry with a shield, he/she will always be considered in full cover for the purposes of enemy accuracy?

Oh cool. I always use Tesla's armor upgrades so having some new options for that is great for me
