@Greer contextually, Russian troops all buy their own kit. Whilst they are issued stuff, for the most part its all personally acquired materiel they enter the field with (hence camos all being random as hell or EMR), FAST helms and gorka jackets are also freakishly common for them now too, chiefly along the same principles. And in the overall battlespace, yeah you're not going to have an easy time identifying a Russian elm by kit alone- they all kinda blend. Which is evidently what results in the armbands being used to differentiate exploitation vs disruption forces; helps them figure out who is supposed to be where doing what.

Funnily enough too, disruption elm units (red armbands) have been seen more often with more 'modern' kit, chiefly because those guys know they're doing dangerous as hell jobs and prefer to have the best stuff they can buy at hand.

Exactly why? I don't know. But that's just how it goes in reality from footages seen.

Russian National Guards don't follow the same standards like the other branches either. They tend to have very different stuff compared to their Ground Forces counterparts.

I mean, that sounds somewhat accurate but I think that there would at least be some sort of basic handout to lesser units that would seem more accurate than it being totally random in terms of equipment. It just makes it seem like there isn't anything to differentiate the models of the Russian National guard and the GRU (Not that I'm trying to downplay the reuse of models, they're still very well made. It was just kind of... odd.)

And I think lesser Russian units would simply just not use a helmet instead of buying one that wouldn't do them any good and would essentially be an unnecessary burden.

I hope what I said somewhat made sense.

And not every OpsCore FAST high cut helmet is a real one. It can be some cheap airsoft clone that doesn't offer the same quality, who knows. Especially common with the lesser units

Not all armed forces have the same rules and standards. For something like Russia, when it comes to being deployed into warzones, they can be quite unorthodox and random. You can say the same for Ukraine.

They pretty much mostly buy or acquire their own equipment through whatever means necessary. From helmets, plate carriers, optics, etc

I get all of the squad compositions, which I love because I felt as though squads without this mod seem pretty bare bones.

I guess the bit that confused me the most was seeing Militia with more US-Styled gear, but with your explanation and the inclusion Islamic bandannas it now makes sense.

Though in countries like Russia for example, seeing squads range from some units in the National Guard looking the exact same as the Spetsnaz SSO was a little confusing.

And so far the variety of units and their compositions are based off their real life counterparts. Such as US Army squads being 9 man strong with 2 fireteams and 1 squad leader. German Panzergrenadiere having 6 man squads, Russian squads ranging from 7-10 man squads depending on what kind of unit they are, etc.

GRM acquired a lot of US small arms and Humvees thanks to American evacuation in Afghanistan and them capturing Iraq and a lot of US aid stockpiles

Russia uses a lot of Multicam and ATACS camo mixed in with EMR because that's what they have been using in Ukraine, Africa, and wherever they go on deployments

I guess. But I was just worried in case you needed the DLC is all. I also don't want to sound like a dick when I said that there wasn't much variety between a countries units, because it's still one of the best mods I've ever seen.

I didn't think I was referring to common stereotypes when I said there wasn't much variety between units though.

The GRM just looks a lot like the US skin presets and I was confused if that was just because I didn't have the DLC so it wouldn't register skin concepts made by the devs behind the DLCs.

A lot of units like the Russian SSO and GRU seem to look like units from the US, so I thought that was either a skin change or a consequence of me not using the DLC.

I really like this CTA mod, however, Is it possible for the smoke canisters on the MBTs, APCs, etc. were like the real life works where they use white phosporous or smoke shells rather than just smoke appearing from the ground?
