I see where you are coming from, you want a mod which works even in online play and avoid clutter in addons list caused by excessive count of mods. I totally understand that. Thing is that Valve should've done that already since this is under their control actually, not under our control for the guns to play proper sounds. This mod also features a similar reload fix as seen in my Military Sniper Rifle Done Right mod. I'll just add that I tinkered with the events for the firing sounds but once I compiled it with swapped event sounds, the problem persisted and was even worse. For VScript mods, I think due to the nature of code it can be executed across all connected players so everyone can have the sound fix for the pistols implemented. Glad I could be of help for you.

The only reason I asked about this is because vscripts works only on local servers.
I also asked this because some mods also have sound fixes (for example, military sniper rifle with it's clip load "crack" fix), so I wanted to see everything in one place instead of installing a million mods (for proper working you need a mod, then another one, another fix, etc.)
It's not a problem to install and use vscripts, but most pf players prefer official server than locals =/
Thanks for detailed answers anyway.

I'm not going to do* this.

Continuing my answer, if you are asking if is it possible to achieve the same results as seen in ChamoChimi's mod which uses VScript to fix firing sounds, then the answer is no. Why? To quote myself from the Bug Report Section discussion - it isn't possible because sounds are assigned wrong from the client-side level of the game, which is why this VScript patch even works - since it interacts with the client-side level of the game. Valve would need to issue a patch in order to fix the firing sounds problem for pistols. Mods that achieve similar results aren't going to fix the underlying issue. When I was making this mod initially however, I considered doing it but I had no power to do so as I had no proper knowledge prior how to re-animate thing properly. Now, I can't see the point of doing this. If Valve doesn't care, I don't think anyone should but good thing is that this VScript mod exists.

Just use VScript mod from ChamoChimi. Yes, many mods do flip gun models to force them to use proper sounds or just swap event sounds in animation sequences. However, I'm not going to so this, since this is not my fault and my mod will actually go well with ChamoChimi's mod. The main point of this mod wasn't to fix weapon sounds but rather fix the model and to choose appropriate sounds for weapon reload, see the description.

Hello
Sorry about necroing comment section, just saw your "done right" mods.
If it's possible, could you please add right/left gun sound fix?
ChamoChimi made one, but it's a vscript version, it only works on local servers. There must be non vscript versions, but they require another pistol models to use.
Here is his mod:

@Killa
I am pretty sure there are mods that get you covered. However I have mainly focused here on fixing P220 so I don't really see a point in making a dual glock mod. You can also try to install the following mod alongside with a P220 replacement mod so you get fixed textures for your right sided glock too.

Can you try to make a pistol mod where only the left pistol shows so it's still modernized compared to l4d1 but its just two glocks instead of whatever the hell the right pistol is

@Media Buff
Sure I'll consider that, thanks for the idea. I just finished spray dusting my PC equipment and I need to do some PC maintenance.

@burden of life
do you think you could do something similar to the SMG? i downloaded a clean skin for it earlier and noticed the fire rate is set to semi-auto rather than full-auto by default
Nigerian Prince  [author] 25 Apr, 2022 @ 9:07am
@Sheridan
What do you mean by saying campaign specific ? --You mean like the model is only used for specific campaign set? Well, I need to think about it, especially when it's about republishing. For a quicker response and to remain notified about the deal, feel free to add me. I think I need you to explain this to me in detail how it works.
Wesker's Girlfriend 25 Apr, 2022 @ 8:00am
I meant that I can do this only for Left 4 Dead 2 campaigns because there's mods out there that are campaign specific, but I was asking for your permission to republish it that way. I would credit you, I just wanna repack this with that sound fix mod that reverses the dual pistol audio and make it L4D2 campaign exclusive.
Nigerian Prince  [author] 25 Apr, 2022 @ 4:51am
@Sheridan
Unfortunately, no. Left 4 Dead 2 shares the content across the whole game, lots of games are done this way to save time spent on creating animations, so in your case, I say that you can't have separate animations for each campaign. The magic would need to happen to make devs create viewmodel animations just for campaigns, like entirely new sets of animations. Well, newer games, with a higher budget, do that but this isn't the case for L4D2, sorry.
About the firing sound reversal - Sorry, this isn't the case here. Though I believe Valve should fix it since it is a client-side issue or at very least the community devs of TLS should report about this bug to Valve.
Wesker's Girlfriend 25 Apr, 2022 @ 3:43am
Can I do this for L4D2 campaigns only? Does this also reverse the firing sounds for the dual pistols so the P220 and Glock have their respective correct sounds?
Oats 9 Mar, 2022 @ 6:39am
can you do this for L4D1 animations?
rdgreen1022 4 Mar, 2022 @ 5:34pm
that's pretty insane i will say
Nigerian Prince  [author] 4 Mar, 2022 @ 4:57pm
@rdgreen1022
No, I am not even a "day two fix". I am a "day three fix" :ujel:
rdgreen1022 4 Mar, 2022 @ 4:56pm
are you a day two fix?
Nigerian Prince  [author] 4 Mar, 2022 @ 4:47pm
@rdgreen1022
No, I am not a "day one fix".
rdgreen1022 4 Mar, 2022 @ 2:04pm
you are a day one fix
Nigerian Prince  [author] 4 Mar, 2022 @ 7:18am
@rdgreen1022
Nick's pale on the video because I used previously another fix for the "Day One" skin for Nick but switched to the one currently seen on the screenshots because it looks more canon and retains that "day one" feel. Check the comment section for the mod link if you're interested.
rdgreen1022 3 Mar, 2022 @ 4:55am
why is nick pale in the video and screenshots
Nigerian Prince  [author] 3 Mar, 2022 @ 4:14am
@Razorkiller
I've been asked about this before and I am aware that people need a quick comparison. I have a perfect day to do that so expect a redone screenshots with comparison working on fly as you look at them.
Razorkiller 3 Mar, 2022 @ 3:56am
I know this isn't too much to ask but can you do before and after images to see how they looked through in-game comparison?
I am aware that VALVe loves to put most weapons into safety on the weapons yet you can still fire them in their games but just curious how it still looks up close.
LegoRTS 2 Mar, 2022 @ 3:35pm
Thanks for the mod!
Nigerian Prince  [author] 2 Mar, 2022 @ 1:18am
As since this mod has a 100% positive feedback from all of you and I thank you so much for that because it really makes me happy for what I’ve done, I need to state a monologue at this point which will be prevalent for everyone who’s supporting and looking out for my future work:
As much as I can, I will try to look out for the improvements, be responsible for the responsibilties I took for my mods and continue the workshop growth as my capabilities go.
Nigerian Prince  [author] 2 Mar, 2022 @ 12:40am
@sansroblox33
These are a “Day One” skins for all survivors with one exception being Nick, using the fixed version of hands for his Day One skin.

Survivor skins I mean
LegoRTS 1 Mar, 2022 @ 4:05pm
What is the mod for the clean versions in this video?
Nigerian Prince  [author] 28 Feb, 2022 @ 3:08am
Will do, just give me a bit of time. I planned to redo these screenshots anyway.
Cursed Hawkins 27 Feb, 2022 @ 5:09pm
You probably should do before and after images, because I don't think many people are going to know where the safety is on these pistols.
Nigerian Prince  [author] 26 Feb, 2022 @ 10:52pm
Thanks Querentin but this isn’t going to work well for this mod as decompiling the vanilla pistol model file caused deltas to be broken and I quite figured out myself how to deal with that problem myself. Also, TLS animations were meant to be used.
Querentin 26 Feb, 2022 @ 10:39pm
You are welcome to use my source files if you find them useful; they are essentially the vanilla animations before the TLS update. mediafire(dot)com/file/jf7oxlkbyyoi9a4/glock_colt_pistols_src.rar/file
Querentin 26 Feb, 2022 @ 10:15pm
Simply switch the left and right fire anims, and then modify the last fire anims appropriately. That's how I fixed it in my pistols mod https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1446870909
Edison Gar 26 Feb, 2022 @ 9:12pm
Nevermind then, I'll think about it myself.
Nigerian Prince  [author] 26 Feb, 2022 @ 9:01pm
Well, changing the sounds in the sequences was pain in the ass due to fact I did those changes on a compiled file. All the animations and sequences are derived from hexed vanilla pistol model.
Edison Gar 26 Feb, 2022 @ 8:58pm
@daew0ox7 of course it's not possible, but I actually wanted to edit myself for glock pistol to fire first then p220 pistol to match the gun sound.
Nigerian Prince  [author] 26 Feb, 2022 @ 8:56pm
I don’t think it’s possible to switch the firing sounds as since these are handled by the game client and not the sequences in .qc files. I left it as it is because of it. The rest however should be fixed.
Edison Gar 26 Feb, 2022 @ 8:41pm
Looks decently edited :) I was wondering if I could edit for myself cause on dual pistols, the p220 pistol on the right it's still firing glock sound. So I was wondering I could reverse the sequence just like my addon. :)
