Hey. Minor issue - arrMissions config in XComMissionDefs is slightly incorrect and is causing a redscreen/log warning:

SquadSpawnSizeOverride=4, \\)

Should be

SquadSpawnSizeOverride=4)

I haven't tried that in a long time. If I remember correctly, you get both regions, but have -1 available contacts. So, you would need to get another contact just to get back to 0 available.

So what happens if the player had one open contact slot, initiate covert mission chain, and then initiate contact with a different region?

Yes, you need to be able to contact a region for it to show up as a mission chain from this mod. So, you need to have a contact available and a region with the "make contact" button available.

I think I know why it sometimes picks a region you are scanning in, but it requires a code change to fix. In X2StrategyElement_ACURActivityChain.uc there is a function IsRegionAvailable, that (if I'm reading it right) flags if the chain can be started at all.

IsRegionAvailable counts up the regions that are available, excluding ones currently being scanned, and returns true if that number > 0 (among other verifications). But, when picking which region to start the chain in (in the function ChooseRandomUnlockedRegion) it picks a random available region without the "is it already being scanned" check.

I've had that happen a time or two as well. If you get the chain in a region you are already scanning, you should ignore the chain, it won't change the scan time. But if the chain gets started, like if you didn't notice it was in the region you were scanning, it'll change the time and you should ignore the scan instead.

The new chain seems to work. Another issue I'm having is if I've already started contacting a region I can still have the chain to spawn. If this happens the region I was contacting is both available as a chain *and* through the traditional method. The scanning time also increased from whatever it was to 38 days.

I gave this another try, and again the full chain completed but the region is not unlocked. If I try to unlock it with intel now it has a scan time of 128 days. I'm a noob at this launch log thing, but I think I managed to get it up on pastebin, hopefully the link works. https://pastebin.com/Rz4X2dLG

I copied the part from just before the last part of the activity chain triggered (if I'm reading it correctly) through the end of the log.

since people don't read change notes:

I need logs of your game (it's the launch.log files, it's in the same folder directory where XCOM 2 stores its saved games) if you run into the bug

it will be way more informative than whatever your complaint is going be worded like because I have a bunch of logging statements meant to check what the game is precisely doing when I'm telling it to try cleaning itself up

It specifically needs to be a log of your game *immediately after the chain was done or expired*

there are several websites out there that will accept file uploads, and will give you a link that you can give me so I can see it

I got this chain for East Africa, but couldn't try it because my soldier were still low rank. Now, several in-game weekds later, the chain has disappeared (obviously) but when I want to unlock East Africa, 135 days are required :/

Is there anyway to see which region is being contacted. It says 6-8 days until you try to scan then it goes to 120 days and cancels the chain

I kept getting crashes on city centre havoc mission. I get the sky ranger bit then ctd.
Tried going back to save before it spawns samexissue
Also cleared config and verified files.
Going to start over and see of yhe same thing happens on the mission again. Thought you would want to be aware

GreatOldOne, I think that may be what happens if you manually contact the same region as this event chain. Unfortunately the mod does NOT prevent you from doing that. It does tell you which region is being targetted but if you're not paying attention you could end up manually contacting the same region.

I have done this event chain 3 times so far in my current game and it worked fine all 3 times.

What Crazy eye said. All this mod has done for me is to make the region in question literally disappear off of the geo-map. Poof. Uncontactable, just an empty space on the map. I like the idea of being able to contact a region out of reach on the normal relay chain via another means, but that is a serious bug. At that point, the region might as have the XCOM EU red swirl for all the good it does you.

You don't need the squad size increase for this mod. For the final mission it just has you pick 2 4 man squads and you get both of them for the mission. I just finished the final mission in my current game and did not have any issues. The final reward makes contact with a nearby territory without you having to scan or spend any intel on it. It also gives you an income increase for the region. The only glitch I have run into so far with this mod is that you can get the event chain started and then make contact with the same region manually before you finish the final mission. I did that the first time I tried the mod when I wasn't paying attention. It does tell you which territory is being targetted though on the very first mission so it doesn't require any guess work.

@Jay_64 If you're talking about More Squad Size Upgrade, that mod is incompatible with Covert Infiltration and therefore this mod as well. CI was designed for 6 man squads, and the upgrades are for infiltration missions only. In Assault type missions you can bring the maximum number of soldiers (6 by default can be changed in CI's config) from day0.

There is another mod called size squad that naturally increases the XCOM squad size. Can this mod corrupt the Assault mission? since it improves more soldier in the squad?

Got this activity chain again later, and completed it successfully. But the region does not seem to have unlocked, it still needs to be contacted with intel as far as I can tell. The last mission didn't seem abnormally difficult, there were 12 enemies plus a Chosen but nothing that couldn't have been handled by a normal squad. Possibly something conflicting with ABA? That's the only other major game-impacting mod that I have besides CI itself.

Not sure if I am just misreading how this works, but I had this activity chain pop for West Africa in my current campaign immediately AFTER I had just initiated contact with West Africa in the traditional manner. I.e. I had spent the intel and started the scan. I assumed there was then no point in starting the activity chain, so I left it alone. Or did I misunderstand and it would actually unlock some other region? Incidentally in this particular game West Africa is the Blacksite region, so probably not practical to do a whole activity chain to unlock it just to save a little intel, so I probably wouldn't have done it in this instance anyway.

I encountered another bug I completed the activity chain and the region was not unlocked, still had the make contact banner. Also on the City center wreak havoc mission there were 4 alien/advent enemies plus the chosen warlock, a total of five enemies. Based on the description that does not seem like the intended spawns. Both of these bugs were in different campaigns but no changes in mod list.

So I found a bug, if the player starts making contact with a region and completes making contact with said region, via scanning, while the chain to make contact with that region is active but the player also abandons the chain to make contact with said region. The region ceases to exist on the geoscape. The game will spawn any missions that were supposed to be in that region in the nearest ocean. Contact with the region is maintained but the supply drop is affected negatively.

If the activity chain had already spawned when the mod updates happened, it'll still use the outdated template.

It's possible the mod hadn't updated on my end when I ran this, but Month 1 I got this chain without having Resistance Comms researched. I do play with the Busy Skies second wave option enabled, so is it possible that that is enabling the chain to proc without checking for the relevant tech?

I am guessing since it has the [CI] in the name, Covert Infiltration as a required mod, the preview is in the CI-style for the "overhaul that is not LWotC" and is achieved using an entire chain mechanic not present in any in way in LWotC ... that you might be correct.

This sounds great - variety in mission size is something less common. The occasional full-out urban assault sounds like a great change of pace mission in CI!

This is epic. Would it be possible to add a config option for swapping the "standard" regional contact scan to forcing CI chains only? Also, is this chain blocked if you have run out of available contacts?
