I tried every configuration. The geothermal side of it is NOT worth it. It never creates enough steam to spin the turbine. well it does but it is on then off on then off (250m below the head). SO 50MW? not even close! Broken is the only thing to surmise.
Swadius 5 Jul @ 3:16am
@SmugWyrmling.
There is a piece called "Geothermal Pipe Mount" that needs to be placed immediately right under the geothermal well head. Did you put this piece in?

The instructions on this page does not even mention it needing the piece to be in. And the description in the game mentions using the well mount to connect the well tip to the well head, but there is ambiguity on whether you need 1 put down or one for each end, and where exactly this piece goes. Some explicit instructions would help a great deal.

I have been trying to get the geothermal head to transfer the heat from the tip. the tip is 400m underground and I have no idea what is going on
chouchydog 9 Apr @ 7:08am
qeustion, is there a way so i can make the things like turbines and other things still need their input mats/supply for them to function in creative instead of them being magically working
Vas 31 Jan @ 8:38pm
I love this mod though, it replaces the magic reactors the game comes with, however I'd like to see a smaller reactor that takes less reactor components and space. Even if less efficient and such. That thing is gigantic compared to what I needed.

Here's some screenshots of it when I used it in an emergency situation on my ship.

Wanted to point out a small glitch with the solar concentrator, it seems to be misaligned. I aim it away from the sun at a 90 degree angle to get most optimal power.
Dr. Blackwood 25 Jan @ 1:49am
Am I the only one whose steam system doesn't seem to work?
Using this mod here only, not the "IO mother mod".

I drilled a 600m deep hole, stuck the geo well tip at the end of that hole onto a geo pipe all the way up to a well-head. Then I connected the well-head to a steam pipe that runs into a steam tank and from there into a turbine. Waited a good 2 hours so far, but nothing is happening at all.

Little edit: To test the system itself, I quickly connected a row of solar panels to the pipes and voilà, immediately the turbines begin to purr like a kitten. So it seems an issue related only to the well parts?
Farro 3 Nov, 2024 @ 11:39pm
The steam turbines are loud as hell and fuck up the game's audio completely
Hellboy 8 Aug, 2024 @ 9:13pm
Is it possible to make these small blocks as well :)
debstar 26 May, 2024 @ 7:31am
hi i am using Industrial Overhaul ...to make Geothermal works for me, ...it seems I need only to connect the Geothermal to turbine. and no Other Steam sources.

Geothermal + turbine = OK
Geothermal + Solar Concentrator or Coil Boiler + turbine = KO

So ..I built 2 turbines : One for Solar / Coil Boiler + tanks and another one connected only to the geothermal system.

I figured it out by cutting connections.
Vas 14 Apr, 2024 @ 6:01pm
I think I figured it out, it seems to have a delay of some kind before it can begin doing anything on each new device you add. Did the nuclear reactor and it took a while for it to turn on too.
Vas 7 Apr, 2024 @ 11:37pm
Oh and now it finally turned on, for no reason at all. My batteries have been near empty forever, I fiddled with the steam system for ages trying to make it do something. Tons of heat sitting around inside it. Once I gave up and went to expand my solar array, I come back and its FINALLY generating power. For no reason it just started to work...
Vas 7 Apr, 2024 @ 11:04pm
I can't get this to work. I have heat building up in the well head, but no steam is being produced. It will not begin doing anything. I have empty batteries, my base is barely powered right now. I was hoping this could provide power but it can't so far. :/

It appears this has been an issue for a long time as I've seen a lot of people saying they can't get it to work either. Is this no longer being maintained?
Snipou 25 Feb, 2024 @ 10:25am
Great mod thank you!
However, is it intended that the welltips can store an unlimited quantity of heat and that the wellheads can instantly generate an unlimited flow of steam? (corresponding to the stored heat) Because it very quickly gives "unlimited" energy. Worse, we have access to heat items, so we can move them in a compact ship with a few turbines and have almost unlimited energy too :/
The heat items have no volume or weight so it can quickly break the survival game.
The solution would be to simply not have access to it, and perhaps to put a storage limit in the welltips, because the heat accumulates when we do not use it, and we end up with an incredible amount of energy. quickly, which is a shame for the balance
Blutwurst 10 Feb, 2024 @ 9:10pm
looks like some people have issues to get the geo-plant started. the answere is easy. its only working when you need it. and its only producing the amount of energy you really need, not the full possible output.
just try to build some battaries in a row and you will see how this geathermal plant will start to charge them. when they are full the plant will slow down again.
pbpz22 19 Dec, 2023 @ 8:23am
Just build up. Wellhead is producing approx 8 heat per second. It is also shown in the cargo section. But no steam. The Steam tanks aren't filled up. What is required?
Joergitech 23 Nov, 2023 @ 4:09am
hi thanks for standalone version little wish the coal boiler ar missing think is with IO x.62 implantet kann you that implant to
Silverado Legion 17 Aug, 2023 @ 8:33am
Is there a way to set steam turbines to still require steam to produce power in Creative?
snark 4 Aug, 2023 @ 10:17am
Okay, for some reason now the heat is flowing to the wellhead, but it's not being converted to steam. It's connected to a steam tank and turbine via steam pipes.
snark 3 Aug, 2023 @ 11:06pm
Well tip connected with well pipes to the well head, but the heat cannot move from the well tip to the well head. I tried connecting the well tip directly to the well head, heat cannot move between them. According to the overlay, they both have ports in the appropriate places, but heat simply can't move from the well tip.
Nuko - San 30 Jul, 2023 @ 12:39pm
Built the Well head underground, that wouldn't change much would it? I got the wellhead generating 600 of "heat" and every time I take it away another 600 pops right in in its place, the thing is connected to the turbine with a tank (that shows inventory (NAN) and not filling in with anything, turbine not doing anything, any tips?
TwistedSoul 8 Jun, 2023 @ 7:04am
Is the Solar Collectors producing Oxygen instead of Steam a known issue?
BuildInfo shows them producing 13L/s of O2
I can't get them to run any turbines :(
Nirahiel 24 Mar, 2023 @ 4:39am
An adapter for steam tubes to regular conveyors would be nice. Or a steam tube connector perhaps.
erik 14 Feb, 2023 @ 9:24am
petite video serait la bienvenus
Kire Vien 11 Feb, 2023 @ 11:37am
is there a limit to the number of turbine per wellhead?
ryans610 5 Feb, 2023 @ 6:07pm
Just a heads up, if using this mod along side with the "Life Support System" script, it will take control over the geothermal well tips and shut it down, adding "LSS_IGNORE" into custom data of
the well tips to avoid that.
LSS script: https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1162428509
jivaii 11 Jan, 2023 @ 1:16am
Warfare reactors aren't generating any waste fuel.
NathorusLP - Allkeyshop 16 Dec, 2022 @ 2:24am
Thanks for this mod, it's really great. Although I was first in despair because of the solar concentrators but after I finally got help to use the isy script for these concentrators. Finally works my farm. For those of you who do not have a script, Isy Solar Alignment works. If it does not work, enter "realign" in the argument and then the rotation to the sun works. You will be recognized as an oxygen farm and not as a solar panel.
Made Dragon 29 Nov, 2022 @ 10:21am
'Viable Hydrogen' mod breaks the turbine, it works without it.
Made Dragon 20 Nov, 2022 @ 1:04pm
Same, steam turbine doesn't work, buildinfo says it's filled to NAN% (0 out of 0 liters).
-=Jordan=- 20 Nov, 2022 @ 12:11pm
Steam turbine isnt working, and i dont know why(
|RD| OneSki 21 Oct, 2022 @ 7:19pm
Put a geothermal tip 10km underground and connected 8 steam tanks and 8 steam turbines. All together, that earned me a grand total of 400 MW power. I build one x100 Arc Reactor and it gives me 100GW. This mod isn't worth it.
Menos 4 Oct, 2022 @ 10:43am
The steam turbine should be priority 1 (like solar panels) as there is no reason to not have them running all the time, as their power is infinite.
Ribbons0121R121 13 Sep, 2022 @ 1:35pm
thats a large mod
thecanineone 19 Aug, 2022 @ 1:51pm
I'd like to suggest an additional source of heat: your basic IRL type as beloved by Victorians and steampunk fans, a boiler with attached firebox - either solid fuel or gas-fired. Great big heavy block either way. The existence of the wood harvesting mod makes for an obvious compatibility thing with solid fuel, gas-fired should probably need a huge very heavy condenser to be more ice efficient than the same power output worth of vanilla hydrogen engines cause being compact isn't these things job. Should probably also violently explode if it runs out of water before it runs out of fuel.
Kherianda 8 Aug, 2022 @ 6:29am
Does the well-head need to be on the ground? Does it need to be near the ground? Can it be in the air? Is it the distance between the well-head and well-tip that matters? How does it know the well tip is deep enough? Distance to the planet's core? I have a kilometer deep hole and it's not producing steam.
Rusted Droid 27 Jul, 2022 @ 7:47am
@Clockwork168
Can you add Block that refill H2 tanks (block) with H2 bottles (item) same logic as you made with "Waste" in vanilla Reactors?

PPL are wanting this in SE.

Hyomoto 18 Jul, 2022 @ 5:35pm
I don't know if this will help, but I had the same issues. The author just doesn't do a good job describing what you should see. The welltip has to be > 150m down, and you'll know is far enough because the light on the wellhead will turn green. It's easiest to just set a GPS point and dig 160m down. This *should* start producing heat which will accumulate in the wellhead. As for the Steam, I found that it didn't seem to do anything until I also built a tank. The mod says it's optional, but I couldn't get the wellhead to produce steam without one.

Once you have heat in the wellhead, and steam in the tank ... the turbine might still not start. You should see it *visually* spinning, even when it isn't producing power. If you don't it might be that one of your steam pipe segments is just being a jerk. I had to rebuild a small section of it, and for whatever reason _that_ ended up getting it going.
Alejandr4550 18 Jul, 2022 @ 2:25am
I see that there are many people with the problem of the turbine not starting. Same here for me. It is utterly irritating digging a f/&$ing hole lower down that a politicians moral sense and then build and stare at a long ass tube for longer that i want to admit, for then this shit not to work in the end. Recommend caution using this until it is a bit more polished. :steamsad:
Cosmos 23 Jun, 2022 @ 1:12pm
the steam turbine never starts for me
PhyreFox 4 Jun, 2022 @ 1:31pm
the newly modeled Warfare reactors do not appear to be generating the waste byproduct, while the standard reactor models do.
Shaftiel 4 May, 2022 @ 3:20pm
It appears the Solar Concentrators are being treated as Oxygen farms, so they're generating O2 instead of Steam.
Frosty 27 Apr, 2022 @ 5:51pm
Suggestion - a Hydrogen to Steam "Boiler"
MattPlaysSimulations 27 Apr, 2022 @ 2:41am
For some unknown reason, the models for some of the pipes are invisible
Psykikk 17 Apr, 2022 @ 11:05pm
@wolfy
had the same issue , and basically what it came down to was something with tanks and connections (pipes). so I grinded down some tanks (and pipe pieces) , repaired and suddenly it worked.

sadly, neither pipes nor tanks give off any kind of indication if they are properly working or not.
the mod would be awesome if they somehow would show if they are working or not (like conveyors)
Wolfy 17 Apr, 2022 @ 5:59pm
@Clockwork168 The mod is still working ? because I have been unable to make the steam turbine work, is there a trick or something? once it showed me a message that the turbine was full but it produced 0 energy and then I changed its place to put the steam tank and it didn't even make the animation or fill up, help please
Psykikk 14 Apr, 2022 @ 10:23pm
for anyone wondering:
I tested three hydrogen rebalancing mods and none work as intended or produce unwanted side effects.

so please be aware: this mod is definitely not compatible with any hydrogen rebalancing mods.

@Clockwork
to the mod creator: would be awesome if steam / heat ressources wouldn´t touch / conflict with existing ores / gases / configs
Psykikk 14 Apr, 2022 @ 6:38am
added to that, I also put concentrators plus script in to the network. they work and build up "Oxygen"...
so I get heat from the well, and Oxygen from the concentrators. but steam ? no dice ...
Psykikk 13 Apr, 2022 @ 10:41pm
could someone point me to the right direction as to why geothermal does not seem to work for me ?
it "should" be pretty starightforward to set up:

well head on top. LOOOONG pipe down. well tip(s) down under.
netx to well head I got tanks and the engine.
all connected to the steam network. I also got power to "kickstart" the whole thing. yet, no steam, no power created.

what am I missing ?
Chuckw34 5 Apr, 2022 @ 3:41am
As a follow-up that consumption info was based on the Buildinfo mod. I see that if you hover over the Turbine in the G menu it consumes 50 L/s max. That is still 100 concentrators but at least somewhat feasible.
