When I enable this mod, the collectible plants from the Apex Survival DLC disappear.

I'm a bit late lol but I more or less agree with Tal. Since this mod is themed for realism, it would be nice if it either affected gravity as well, or there was another mod version that also affected gravity. It would be nice if I didn't have to manually edit the file for that every time I make a new world.

@Tal he should not do anything of the sort, we the consumer of mods should be happy when something changed to the better and not have to pay of it instead of sulking due to our unfullfilled unwarranted expectations.

This is not realistic. If you change atmosphere you should also change gravity of the planet. Because with the vanilla gravity these planets MUST have atmospheres.

Yep, this mod works great with Space Just Got Real. Never heard of rendering improved so I can't say whether that will work

Yes - with only 10% air density, wind turbines are mostly ineffective on Mars.

In Vanilla Atmospheric Engine Limit Altitude for Pertam is 1052 compared to 10080 for Earth. this prevents most air traffic related mods from spawning ships. did you by chance increase this for Pertam ?

Ok, no more heavy storms on Triton, Mars, or Europa. Only light weather, and it's less common overall. I also increased the atmosphere density for Triton and Mars, because while 0.002% atmospheric density on Triton was realistic, it served no purpose to gameplay. Hopefully this now strikes a good balance between realism and fun gameplay.

Yep--the first time I touched down, the parachutes did nothing and I had to use hydro's to land, then a winter storm picked up. My two cents--my vote would be either leave the storms and thin to something more reasonable like 20-80% atmo, or completely remove it all.

That is... something I never thought about. Weather should definitely not be a thing on Triton, and it might need to be updated on other planets too. Thank you for pointing that out!

I've been using this on our MP server for some time and the feedback is great--but everyone is confused about Triton. You thinned out the atmosphere so much but left in the weather... is that intentional or an oversight? Either way, thanks for keeping things interesting in SE.

That is the right file, you just have to delete SANDBOX_0_0_0_.sbsB5 before loading the world.

I did try editing the save files, but for some reason I can't get them to take effect anymore. Whenever I load the world the gravity values just revert back to vanilla. However, on my existing world where I already made the changes, the changes stay. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? If you can just edit the save files, that is true a mod isn't really needed for that, but for some reason it isn't working for me anymore. It used to... I don't know what changed.

I'm editing the SurfaceGravity value in the SANDBOX_0_0_0_.sbs file under AppData > Roaming > SpaceEngineers > [My stream ID] > [The world name]. Is this the wrong file?

Oh, my bad. I didn't realize I never posted here that I was removing that. To me it seemed like there was no point to keeping it, because (a) having so many different versions of the mod (with gravity changes, without gravity changes, visuals only, and mod compatibility versions for each of them) was a pain to keep track of, (b) the gravity values don't even change when you make a new star system world, you have to manually place planets in creative mode for the new value to apply, and (c) this mod is based on changing the atmospheres, so might as well stick to just that. If you want realistic gravity values, the easiest way is probably just to edit save files anyways. Or use a workshop world that has the realistic values already, and if that's not something that already exists, it wouldn't be hard to make.

Yeah this mod doesn't seem to work in terms of gravity change anymore. Darn it, finally someone fixes Keen's gravity values and then immediately the functionality is removed? :(

Fixed atmospheres is still great though anyways...

I have moved the visual changes into its own mod, which is now listed in the description of this mod. This mod does include it though, you shouldn't use both at the same time.
So, anyone who just wanted the visuals can now go use that mod instead.

I believe if I remember right you can have certain types of vehicles set up to spawn within certain atmospheric types but its been a long time since I actually looked into it. One of my mods adds spawn vehicles. You might check that out and see if you can figure out from that, how to make it work cause I believe it lets you spawn those vehicles on any planet, even Mars types.

On another note, I think I will take the visual changes from this mod and make a separate mod that doesn't actually alter the atmospheres and just alters the visuals. Then this won't be a problem, for anyone who just wants the visual changes.

Okay, I have been trying to fix this spawn point thing for a while. I eventually had to look into the game's code because I couldn't figure out why it was removing the spawn points. It turns out it's just part of the way the game generates spawn points that makes it so you can't respawn on planets that have atmospheres much thinner than 100% density. which makes sense for vanilla since there are none. Unfortunately, there is no way I know of to get around this. Sorry!

Funny things happen when you increase a planet size to 1000KM or more. The ground starts to warp in strange ways. Mountains grow as you get closer to them. The ground comes to meet you when you're landing. Even more strange when you get to extreme sizes like 10,000KM, the world warps up around you as if you're in a crater constantly. :O

yep @Vas. that's actually not even part of the mod, its just part of the game. The atmosphere heights scale linearly with planet size. I think the space engineers wiki has the equation that the game uses to determine the atmosphere height for a planet of a given size.

I assume you can change the size of these planets freely right? When making a solar system and such? And using a mod that lets you size up above max size too and these things will scale for the most part?

The mod is for changing the atmospheres. The gravity part is kind of a secondary feature. And unfortunately there's nothing I can do about it, this is just the way Space Engineers does things.

shift+F10 in creative mode opens the spawn menu. If you don't want to spawn in every planet manually though, you can also edit the world's save files after creating it and change the gravity values to what you want there. I'm not gonna explain the whole process to you, but it is pretty easy to do, since you can just edit the files in a normal text editor.
