Dei Gratia (1.32)
Hey everyone! I’m currently working on an unofficial update of Dei Gratia for EU4 v1.37, with permission from Nguyen, the original creator. The new version is still in testing, but if you run into any bugs or issues with the current release, feel free to share them here — I’ll take note and try to address them in the upcoming update.
Hey @Nguyen! I used to really enjoy Dei Gratia a lot, and I noticed it’s still stuck on 1.32.2 while EU4 has moved up to 1.37.5. I was thinking about updating it to run on the latest version, mostly for compatibility, but also adding a few mechanics of my own as submod-style features.

Would you be okay with me working on this and sharing it as an unofficial update? I’d of course give full credit to you as the original creator.

@DarkLegion Because the dev stopped development altogether after how poorly performed Leviathan at first launch. And even though EU4 has gone a long way since that disaster and Paradox got its life together, the dev is basically sticking to his guns and after making a tantrum on the current direction of the game, he decided to stop working on the mod. The guy even uninstalled the game.

So... basically a tantrum.

I don't understand why the mod is still listed though. It should be removed altogether (alongside other outdated/dead mods)

@DarkLegion Dev stopped updating the mod due to disaster of leviathan as well as disagreement with the changing direction of EU4 after Leviathan.

Already 1.37 is the latest version of EU4. Can't you at least update to the latest version?

Hello. How do i conquer provinces inside HRE? Conquest CB doesn`t work.

DarkLegion 7 May, 2023 @ 8:09am
Why is the mod still out of date even though the game has progressed so far?
Saul Goodman 30 Apr, 2023 @ 6:14pm
yeah not being able to do anything about corrruption is horrible, there is not a decision or mission for big nations to gain corruption reduction modifiers, only if you take half of the İndia as Mughals you'll gain like 5 yearly corruption modifier

In my opinion, this should be fixed by weakening the event after a certain time of 10 years in peace. For example, from 0.75 corruption back to 0.50 and so on. Or something else with which you can counteract so that you can remove this event. Because it is VERY unrealistic that in a state is permanently so high corruption, if the state has the political will to fight this. And to counteract this with state houses is not a solution.

The event greatly reduces the popularity and potential of the mod.
I hope that this will be changed somehow. Greetings

The mod is really great and I like it a lot. But the Endemic Corruption is a real punishment for the player for his expansion. In my game with Byzantine I currently earn about 150 gold per month, of which about 100 gold for corruption alone go with an Endemic Corruption value of 0.70 Corruption. This really ruins the fun of playing with the MOD and this event damages the MOD immensely. For me, the Endemic Corruption Event, is the worst in the whole mod. I think they had a certain realism in mind with this event. But that the event lasts the whole game and even gets worse, makes the whole game fun kaput.

still best mod ever created btw

I like this mod and I do hope it gets an update someday

Wow. Unplayable, you say? Childish much? You do know that there are tons of other modders (with plenty complex ones too) who didn't just throw a tantrum and leave, right? The decision to stop is your own, and I respect it; but please don't make it sound so darn immature.
Stowyn 17 Sep, 2022 @ 2:05pm
I hope you come back, this is a great mod

Quite possibly my favourite mod for this game, had just the right mix of everything.
Really heartbreaking to learn that it will never get updated.
Baron Von Poonslayer 17 May, 2022 @ 4:41pm
Great mod, very good balance changes to combat, a unique dev system, and outstanding attention to detail, unfortunately for some campaigns, the game can be rendered unplayable, stopping nearly every month for more then 2 minutes at a time.
五道口第一勘探员 14 May, 2022 @ 1:40pm
the best mod I've ever played and it's sorry to know that it won't be updated. Good job.
DarkLegion 1 May, 2022 @ 3:00am
It's the only mod that will get me back in the game and it's sad to learn that it won't be updated

how can i form Japan in this mod. is this possible only in the late game? because i took Kyoto but nothing happened
Nguyen  [author] 30 Mar, 2022 @ 11:08am
As far as I am concerned, 1.30.6 was the last real patch for EU4, it was the last time the game was at least semi-balanced, and unless 1.34 is some sort of miracle patch that actually fixes the unmoddable issues and bugs plaguing the game, I will not return.

For the record, mods like LiT have also gone dormant in large part because of Paradox's failures. It is just pitiful how many dedicated fans and players Paradox drove away with its own greed and incompetence.

If someone would like to continue using DG's resources themselves to create their own mod, they're welcome to do so, but I had already given up on EU4 as of January.

I am now playing Stellaris, a game developed by people who actually play and love their own game, and it's a way better experience. We all know no one at Tinto actually plays EU4 and they only are collecting paychecks for putting out garbage work. While Stellaris is constantly getting new looks at balance, creative content, and even downright good AI now, EU4 continues to be a dumpster fire.

It is frankly embarrassing how much EU4 has been broken and ruined by both poor coding and an almost malevolent implementation of features no one asked for, such as concentrate development, tribal development, expand administration, and the natives in Oceania. Undoubtedly many of these features contributed to the bugginess of 1.31 and succeeding patches, and it is honestly insulting how much the game would be improved if Tinto devs just didn't touch and break things they cannot understand. Instead we just get more worthless DLC bloat.
Nguyen  [author] 30 Mar, 2022 @ 11:03am
I've reported a number of bugs to PDX forums, many of which have gone unaddressed despite PDX claiming 1.33 EU4 to be one of the most bug-free strategy games on the market in a dev diary. It's a straight-up lie, HOI4 and Stellaris are far less buggy.

If you want to see some spaghetti code, go into vanilla, and you will find that if you are full occupied at any point you cease to pay interest on loans as long as you remain at war afterward. This bug broke a multiplayer game we played because someone could not go bankrupt.

Also, ever since 1.32, if you make a tributary while you are at war, the tributary will join your ongoing wars.

This, on top of the fact that AI is about the least functional it's ever been in EU4, literally randomly turning off at times in 1.33, just settles the fact that EU4 is a dead game for me.
Nguyen  [author] 30 Mar, 2022 @ 10:57am
@DarkLegion
There won't be an update. I've ceased to mod EU4, the game is dead because the developers of EU4 have broken it past 1.31, never fixed a good amount of the bugs, and worse introduced new ones and terrible "optimizations" in 1.33 such as the inability to read how much debt you have and the horrible map mode changes.

I've uninstalled EU4 and I probably will not be playing it again.

Compared to 1.32 in vanilla, can you still force develop institutions? How would you get them as a non-European nation?

Why am I unable to defend my vassals or marches? Whenever ai attacks them I don't get called into wars to defend them but ai defends their vassals all the time
Cam 26 Feb, 2022 @ 9:26pm
Also it says it adds mission trees, but to what countries?
Cam 26 Feb, 2022 @ 9:24pm
Can we get just a map version of this with the flavor, like events, as a separate mod?
Shirefrosk34 21 Feb, 2022 @ 9:00pm
Noticed that the game starts freezing and then crashing around 1481 I've tried reloading to an earlier save but the game still crashes around that year. Any solutions?
Angelic Burrito 19 Feb, 2022 @ 7:00pm
@The Henchgirls - In this mod, if both you and the target are in the HRE then the 'conquest' CB doesn't apply—even if you have a claim. You need another CB (literally any other CB, AFAIK) like 'subjugation' or 'imperial ban', and even 'diplomatic insult' allowed me to take land in the 1.30 version of this mod.
The Henchgirls 16 Feb, 2022 @ 1:49pm
So, uh, I got a claim on Görz as Styria, yet, I'm not getting a Casus Belli. Why is this?

does there exist a light version with only the modded map?

Furthermore:

- All dev is not equal. Dev shouldn't be equal when counting toward the dev thresholds of corruption gain. The ottomans, ruling over many different cultures and religions, shouldn't be equally affected by dev as an unified France.

- Rampant colonization of German and dutch minors is very obnoxious and should be dealt with.
Lunk 9 Feb, 2022 @ 10:39am
Good mod, though a few suggestions:

- Inflation really should matter more. One of the reasons the Spanish Empire declined is due to its over-reliance on gold and silver. Inflation should increase dramatically if too much of your income is generated by gold, i.e if it is a certain percentage of tax and production income.

- As others have said, the mod is severely slowed down by the sheer amount of provinces. Can more be done to optimize it?

- Ming is appropriately hampered by a few mechanics and modifiers to facilitate a collapse later on in the game. However, the Indian nations are supremely strong, and don't seem to have any obstructions. In my game, Delhi became an unstoppable blobber with by far the strongest military and the best economy. Any plans for mechanics enabling an European takeover?

Bug: In the "The Bohemian Succession" event (ipeHAB.43 in ipeHAB.txt), if Styria formed Austria (HAB) before Bohemia chooses "We will keep our freedom!" then the -200 opinion gets applied to Hungary instead of Bohemia.
yoavlavi1 8 Feb, 2022 @ 3:06am
hi man great work with this mode, but you need to nerf the amout of millitarization you lose from province because you added so much provincces to the game
Ic3cube2210 7 Feb, 2022 @ 7:18pm
I is there a way to revoke a commandery subject type or is it a bug that you can't do it?
